This is the one I will use. There are other more complicated plans out there, but whats the point? If Im not conscious my mind still likes to go the complicated route but Im working on reprogramming that glitch. I have tried, but words really cant describe how grateful I am for all the inspiration and knowledge that I have found here. The best I can do is live it Otherwise the words feel more like asskissing

CC - I will be checking several brew supply stores to see what of deal I can get on some good Barley. A while back you mentioned that the two row is what I should get. I looked around a bit online and found that most of the brewers out there seem to prefer a larger percentage of the six row because of its higher enzyme content. Since we are aiming for lots of enzyme action, wouldnt it be better to use the six row; or is there another reason for the two row?

No worries CC! I appreciate the info you shared, it nudged me in the direction of exploration after all
Ill share whatever else I might findIt will be interesting to get observe how the barley sprout brew does; so far Ive been mostly using wheat, I did one batch of barley that came from the bulk section at a local store but it didnt seem to do much compared to the wheat. Most of the grains sprouted so Im not sure why; old grain and therefore less enzymes maybe?

good to see you around here.microbeman - I'm not sure if Matt is still using Canna nutes, I haven't read enough of his veganics stuff to be sure. I will agree with you though that he makes some unbelievable ice water extracts
rrog - here is what your soil mix looks like. it barely has any visible hyphae on the top because I have it in a bag without a lid, but as soon as you dig down you reach this:
compare that with the current hyphal structure of CC's mix and you'll see what I mean :
No idea why it is performing above and beyond the other soil mixes to this extent...but i dont mind lol

Microbeman gets the credit for your success from his analysis on Sphagnum peat moss [cite]
After you read his results you can see that working with raw Canadian Sphagnum peat moss is the specific material we want to use. Base commercial mixes like Sunshine or Pro-Mix do not fall into this category. This information page from the Quebec Peat Moss Producer's Association is a fair overview.
The key to understanding the differences between Sphagnum and peat moss harvests is the Von Post Scale which is explained in greater detail if you're interested. H1 & H2 grades are the deal.
