BlueJayWay

What cultivar is that BJW?

Blue; Beauty. Is it a pure Indica?

Sour Bub?...radiating health she is~

MM - he looks like he was a great friend & lived a happy life!

Post edited for strain name, it's a lovely Peyote Purple- seed run, I think it's about as indica as it gets eh?

A few others in the bunch trasplanted to their final destination - the thin leafed gal is the freak of the group

(color adjusted for hps - "incandescent")

Bummer MM...

The One x DG SC99

...Heavy serrations on the leaves...not as hardy a cross as the others for some reason. Just kind of a runt considering her parents...all 5 of the seedlings look the same. They smell good though.

The One x BMR Bx1

Strong little squat plants. Leaf patterns of TO and BMR...this seed batch look fairly uniform. Reminds me of both BMR and TO....they reek.

The One x Mr. G's Cherry Bomb

Cherry-ish musky sweet...appears to have very resinous stems.

Make sure to take care of any and all tobacco mosaic virus infected plants, i have no reason to say you are infected but i definitely recommend researching and making sure you don't contaminate. this is something i have seen before first hand and is one of the leading causes of "runts"

I'm assuming that the frass is from BSF and if that's correct all of the claims made about their ability to fly through green plant material is true. When I've used wild Comfrey as an activator, unknown to me the BSF came along for the ride.

They consumed the Comfrey so fast that it wasn't able to perform as an activator. The compost was made in a product from SmartPots called Compost Sak which holds about 1/2 yard of material.

I became concerned because the pile was not heating up and I had used Alfalfa meal in addition to the Comfrey plants. Nothing was making sense so I took a pitchfork and lifted up some material and it looked like a sci-fi movie - the BSF grubs were in numbers I couldn't even guess at. The compost material looked like it was alive and moving - almost like the old days with mushrooms. Pretty weird.

I ended up having to wait until the grubs had done their thing and died and then I loaded it into worm bins and let that process take care of business.

I've found the dead adult bodies on the top of my worm bins and some people have posted that they actually bought the BSF kits in part to add some to their worm bins. Again, not a suggestion or recommendation but one way that they are used.

At least in Northwest Oregon, if you compost or do any large volume of working with worms, you will have BSF. Fact of life around here.

A couple of pet stores in PDX that cater to reptile owners have the kits, grubs, etc. to get people up and running in order to produce their own food. A koi farm towards the coast is also involved in the BSF deal.

Does that anything to do with the C 99 from several years back?

Yeppers...this particular combo 'Sweetest Cindy 99' is half Sweet Tooth #3 x C99...it's a Dutchgrown seed offering. SC99 is one of the only plants I've ever seen which performed like a champ in veg and flower..."a workhorse" as she describes it....and it's true except for the absolute lack of PM resistance in the PNW.... . I've a thought that years of chemi breeding led to super developed types being weak right out of the seed against PM...
..they don't have chemi fungicides to rely on when they hit a garden like mine.

I thought the cross to TO would be ???? Who knows....

Thanks to all for your empathy. Temujin had a long and fabulous life. In this last week, I knew he was going and asked a buddy to lend me his 22 just in case. Yesterday Temujin got up with help from his bed on the porch, walked across the driveway to one of his spots under a tree and fell over dead. I just hope that I can die so well.

MM, I'm so sorry. You have every bit of sympathy I can muster. Dogs really are man's best friend. The only grow partner a person can really trust at the end of a day.

I am sorry too i feel it because dogs are my other love and the two really go together dogs are the only ones you can trust at the end of the day.

Hey everybody :)
What a great thread! I'm new, but I wanted to let y'all know that I have so enjoyed working my way through this thread. Thanks to all who contributed for an informative and entertaining read. One of the things I love most about organic gardening is that there are always new things to learn, new topics to research, and new ideas to try out in my own garden. With all the supplementary material linked to in this thread, I have no shortage of reading material. Thanks again guys (and ladies). :smoke:

MM, I'm very sorry about your pup, my thoughts are with you. It sounds like he had a wonderful life and a peaceful death. May we all be so lucky.
