Light Rails VS. Stationary Lights

After reading all of your previous post, I can agree that if you have the ability to get a huge room but the initial cost is a problem you should forget about movers. But that's all in theory. I think that the important thing to know is what are the goal and the needs and the budget of the setup you want to make. Anyway the importance is the fun you have growing and the yield you will be smoking.:D

For me, the setup I want to build as to be as efficient as possible while keeping the cost down. The huge advantage I have over other growers is that I can keep the cost down on a lot of things that's electronic. The setup is also a way for me to develop some idea in electronics.

A circular light mover wouldn't be that hard to build, only step motor and some hardware to attach the motor to the light, the driver is virtually free, since a lot of parts in electronic circuits I can get them free (from samples of different company)! Another example, A CO2 controller would barely cost me 40$, that's including the solenoid valve and a CO2 sensor that can be placed anywhere in the room, again the circuitry is virtually free, only the conception I have to come with, but it's rater an easy one.

Keep growing, growing, growing!!

nice, I like saving money by doing things myself too. Maybe you can do a DIY $40 Sniffer thread one of these days...

Movers or no movers, grow some weed and enjoy life. I was just putting my opinion on them out there.

i think for commercial growers, they'd probably buy more lights as they arnt really thinking, if i invest now i'll get more in the long run. they set up to get as many ounces now, plus they fill up they growing area with as many lights and plants as they can, so why waste time configurating the light movers ....to work in sync.commercial growers grow as big as they can filling the rooms, while small scale growers tend to stick below a certain amount of wattage in order not to be stick out. smaller growers stay say below 4k will use light movers to increase yeild in a given space and keeping, heat(ventilation)+cost of growing(electricity)+replacemenat of bulbs roughly the same(small increase). both made compelling arguements and enjoyed it.

conclusion-commercial=more lights
-small scale=light movers

the only way i can see light movers not producing more bud is if, the plants produce half as much then they would with constant light.

:woohoo:
i wonder why light movers break so fast hmmm?

This thread has made me laugh out loud, thanks for the comedy. I think one misses the point light movers work for you. You don't have to move "outside" plants to make up for more intense light in the middle. A real pain, and impossible if you have a system which can get messy. If juice costs doesn't matter of course more lights will give you more, (you still will move em to even out the canopy!) the mover will give more yield if you don't send it further than it will side light the ends. iow if you send it too far many plants are w/o light for some of the "on" time, not good! You will get much closer so you can max out lumens, a fact often over looked! With air-cooled I get 1k's to within 3" of the glass! I blow oscillating fans between the glass and tops. With 600's I can get so close its almost on them, I keep it up some for growth room. If I were setting up a room with 10 lights, movers would help lessen labor other than adjusting the ducts etc. Tighter budz with more intense light. I like movers but with large set-ups 10+ lights I'd avoid em other than for clones/Moms. Hell; a large set-up I'd use the Sun, lol you get the best of both worlds! :dueling: :sasmokin:
