hi, very nice information are to be read here.
I was wondering if a reflector the effitienz still could increase cxa 2530

I play with the thought

10 * cxa2530 + 630 + 660 + 450 + uv (perhaps) to build.

Water Cooler:http://www.aliexpress.com/item/Best...mm-MAluminum-Cooling-Block-for/679765325.html

The air-cooling system is great but I want to try water cooling at room temperature of the air come.
http://abload.de/img/turm2sb5.jpg principle of evaporation cold.

Keep it up guys

due to leds being surface mount, instead of reflectors you want lenses, which come in various degrees ~ 50-100*. The wider the lens angle the wider the spread

Thank you for your response pet.

I do not want to use lenses because the cheap plastic lenses usually have only 93% transparency. So led chip leave it open.

I've tried with sketchup to find the optimal location for my area.

a picture where in the distance with and without refector show. Area of illumination equal. distance increases. Unfortunately I can not find any wide-angle reflectors

I will probably work without reflector and extremely minimal irish the distance to the plant. with 115 degree I can live with.

I hear ya, but you can find quality lenses, which of course co$t more

If you are scrogging, or growing short plants, lenses should not be necessary, but they protect the fried eggs from any moisture/humidity, though the heat should burn it up long before causing an issue

Hi here,

Someone has tried the CXA1850? I would use 4 of these to light a 60cm x 60cm surface... it looks good to you?

And I have the choice between 2700K or 3000K, which one looks best for our plants?

If using only for flowering then yes, although I have seen several growers use throughout

Still, I would want ~ 15% 400-450

Amare Technologies has just introduced a very cool 360w COB with a UVb bar called Solar Eclipse
. Their www is now active

Thx for the info PetFlora, but Amare is a little expensive for my wallet, so I'll try to make my own led units... :)

And yes, it's only for flowering... ;)

That's good. Then it shouldn't be too difficult, but beyond my capabilities- tools and abilities

Quality cobs are $$$$ as are quality heat sinks

Best to use twice as many small watt cobs than a few larger

It was my first choice, 4x SolarSpec 150 Cree, but as you said, quality parts = quality prices... :)

If Victor want to offer some of them to me, it will be a pleasure to show how they work on different forums... :peek:

Doesn't hurt to ask

There are threads on RIU, GC, Open Grow...

I think 4 x 100/150s would be awesome for most growers

IMO, Cree are not THAT much superior, but they have the sexy name

does any one knwo about dimming these cobs?

im sourcing parts for my build but have kinda run into a potentially bankrupting situation with this.

the chips im going with are the 2540s wich run at 37-42vid like to dim them but most afordable dimmable drivers only go up to 24-some available at 36 max volts.

i read on the reef forums the dudes are doing manual dimming by running an ac-dc converter then adding a dimmer thingy onto that instead of using a dimmable driver? any techys in da house?

or if not im looking at 1500mA constant current drivers. the thing is the drivers im looking at run to a max voltage of 38v and at 1500mA these chips will pull smth like 39v--- seems that it will be ok(wiki reef forums) but just wanted to see what you guys think?

thank and sorry if that was confusing, luckily my father in law is an electrician so he makes sure i dont do anything that will kill myself or burn the house down but he is an old retired electrician so LEds came after his time, he admitadly doesnt know about how to drive them and all that but he can wire them like a pro =D

Read post nr 78 and you will find the driver i used to dim my lights... you need to connect your cob in series though in order to reach the lower limit of the "Hi-voltage".. My drivers goes from 350-700 mA but you can find 750-1500 mA in the same line of products! Super quality!

yeah i figured if have to get an adjustable current driver but its soo expensive just the fish peeps are doing it with dc/dc adjustable current drivers off a big f'king ac/dc converter, but those only push 12 volts usually so i guess for cobs its not going to work

thank you

I remember that people were thinking about using stroboscopic plant light as a way to save energy. This was a long time ago and i don't remember if there was a conclusion. This would be a interesting subject for a "side by side grow": Same amount of watt applied in different pulses!

If running at a 20% duty cycle, you'd need 5 times the lights to do it with. LOL Makes it expensive but if the gpw goes up and the experiment works, you'll have longer lasting LED's and can claim glory over the whole thing!

I've thought of even doing a 10% duty cycle using....some green LED or alteast 10000k color temp LED's with high green in them. It causes the plant to floursence inside much like a red laser and putting your finger tip on it, since blood reflects the light, the light that actually does make it inside bounces around. Same with green in a green plant! I've been reading about it. mr x's 10000k led's made me research on why those should be in the central because it's the bud column!

Any updates on these tests?

I was wondering if anyone did any side by side comparisons so far.

Or, maybe a few tests of the Spider cob against more expensive ones?

There are some grow trial images on the Growthstar facebook page. Definitely more effective than HPS.
