guess I'd better do the same with some Pk for the 4/20 cup! otherwise it'll be gone like yesterday, seems your quite busy in the new year as well! keep rockin it homie!

EDIT: How is the biozone workin out? is it still keeping things under control? My carbon scrubber, ionic breeze, and ONA all over the house CAN'T keep up! and I've got some diesel going in next so I definitely need to get a handle on it

I've got the BioZone 4,000 in the Attic, a BioZone 3,000 in the middle of the house, but I should probably get an in-duct BioZone as well maybe an induck 5,000 for my 2,000 sqft house.

As it is now I can keep the smell inside the house. You can't smell it from across the street or even right outside anymore. That is right before the BioZone you could smell Purple Kush a block away (LITERALLY).

I was planning on jarring up half of any PK that came to me from your garden anyway, so if you can't keep the jar sealed until 4/20 don't stress too much.

Peace, :joint:

ReUpgrading the Upgrading Room

ReUpgrading the Upgrading Room

Well about six months ago I took over a spare bedroom. That little bedroom with a closet turned into the upgrade room.

The first run was in 5 gallon buckets. The four PK were 49.50oz and the Aussie Blues were very disapointing smoke and quality but 37oz of hash making bud (those are posted earlier in the thread: working off stoned memory here).

Second run was 7PK in a BRAND NEW 8XL UC. I will now refer to as bad UC. Bad UC because they sold me poison airstones or air plugs more accurately. Maybe not posion but the crappyiest airstone possible. I snapped them all in half as I DOWNGRADED the BAD UC. The PKs yeilded 28oz. and the other BRAND NEW UC that went into the other side of the upgrade room had a mixed bag and yeilded about the same. Well quite frankly that sucked for the yield to go down from brand new systems with brand new chillers and great genetics. I knew things were crap and already planed to ditch the UC for the room but was going to finish out the plants that replaced the PKs.

Well anyway got back and the UC looked really crappy so now it is gone from the upgrade room. It is still looking OK modified in my veg and soon to be modified or retired out of the Dungeon.

So it is a NEW YEAR and OUT with the OLD UNDER PERFORMING UC and IN with who knows how good DIY buckets.

I am still addicted to upgrading so the buckets are two styles of 20gals instead of the UCs 8 or my old 5 :dance013:

Even better each bucket costs less than $30 in the state installed.

So out with the OLD:

And in with the NEW:

Not impressed? Well what about now?

Still no? Maybe now?

Well I hope life is great with you guys. It is wonderful and surreal here. There are 6 plants in the upgrade room and not a single one is PK. That will change really soon!

Peace, :joint:

damn that sucks to hear man... poison air plugs? i just use the cheap 6" stones and replace em every run; try cleaning it with physan20 before u give up on it or at least cannibalize it for parts ;)

awesome thread, i like your already-trimmed bushes
do you trim them when they are still in the "ground"?

this whole time i thought PK was Pure Kush.... i read for a few hours and finally i understand why your plants look so weird! haha

time to put down the bong and get some sleep

What do you mean poison are plugs. They infected your plants or they dont put out air? Im gonna give the uc a couple runs and see if I can get it dialed in. DIY buckets are always the shit. Good luck in with them monster buckets pretty cool.

Hey UC crowd. The airstones turned mushy broke off blue shit all over my hands, were not putting out any bubbles. When I snapped them in half there was a long plastic tube running the whole length (and not working presumably). You can't clean these things because they break apart.

The stones from the local hydro shop when broken in half have a nice clean tunnel down the middle no plastic shit. Also they don't fall apart in your hands.

To make things worse the UC 8xl is sold with a 59w air pump to drive 8 airstones and a 9" pond difuser. Are you fucking kidding? The 100w seems to work fine in the 12 site, but the AP60's blow. These systems run about $1300 and to screw over your customers with under powered air pumps and the worst airstones China has to offer is really shitty business. I would also suggest that the reccomended water level should be 2" below the indent at the top or appx 5" from the top of the net pot. I think having the bottom of your net pot in water 24/7 may be a no no. Let the roots hang or suffer the rot may be the truth.

Shcrews: When my trees are spaced out nicely I like to remove the fan leaves a week or so before harvest. Then I can hang the plant whole and give it a nice go over with the sissors. If they are all packed in like sardines (read UC needs to be wider and more spaced) then I just string them up so they don't break from weight. Chop, hang whole, trim off all fan leaves, rough 1st bud trim, cure whole for 4 to 5 days, 2nd bud trim place in mason jars.

Opt1c: It is all fine, I'm not going to get better if I don't try and the UC was good except the faults I mentioned. My new set up will be a lot more work in the beginning (test and adjust every plant daily, instead of just UC), but it will allow me to get each plant what she wants (mono cropping in the UC kind of gets there, but even with clones from the same mother, flowering plants grow differently and the big steal from the small).

BG: I still have the UCs I'll watch you. I'd recommend doubling the air (use the AP60 for epicneter only and a nice 80w for the 8 airstones).

Peace, :joint:

were you using sure to grow inserts or hydroton with your netpots in regards to the water level or do u think anything would b good at that water level; last run i did rockwool with the water just under the netpots wicking up and the plants loved it with zero rot; this run i'm doing hydroton with a higher water level but no probs so far

i have the 6 site uc and it comes with an ap-40 air pump; has worked fine so far... and the blue stuff the comes off the airstones is nothing compared to the brown stuff that comes off the hydroton(has anyone ever fully cleaned hydroton in the history of the world?)

That is a great post. Hydroton and RW were what I used in my 5 gals got great results, but the Hydroton breaks down all the time (well no shit I come to realize). We are growing trees and our roots are strong they drill through the tough top or bottom coating of STG, they go all the way through RW, and they grab and BREAK Hydroton. That is what they love to do.

I have had a few variation in the UC but it appears that the STG version is the WORST!!! The best seems to be Rapid Rooter, Rock Wool (eating crow here), and Hydroton (more crow, good to know my arrogance cost me many plants and pounds).

Even though the STG versions were the worst I have had several UC plants with the other set ups (1) Rapid Rooter and Hydroton (2) RR, Hydroton, & Rockwool (3) Rapid Rooter and STG (4) STG only

The pots with the STG caused the problems, plainting (1) too low in the net pot causes stunting but not death (2) does the best in the UC but not better than my 5gal buckets (3) can wick water all the way to the top of the rapid rooter causing problems but not death. For example in the dungeon right now I have nice RR w/ Hydroton. The RR's are split because the stalks are so big and the rr is bone dry. In the same UC I have (3) the stalk is much smaller, the rr is wet to the touch, there is a water line running up the stalk. The STG is wicking and screwing with me. Loosing ounces of Black Berry Bubba.

I'm fine with Hydroton dust now, but there are airstones that work for around a dollar so what came with the UC may have well been NONE, that would have made me happier.

Your water level should be fine if you are in (1) or (2).

I just took the AP60 (59 watts) and crimped off the air to the air stones in my veg unit (now all 59w to the pond diffuser). I brought in a nice 80w NGW airpump and set it to the 9 airstones in my veg room. I'm happier already we'll see how the ladies look tomorrow ;)

Peace, :joint:

yeah; i feel bad with rockwool with all that extra space not being taken up by roots but what works works... if you're using the uc systems to veg i'd look into getting those 13gal ezstor pails and just plumbing the uc piping into them; you could just move the lid over to the 13gal and ur set... if i had the room i'd do that; i just have room for a 6xl though so i'm trying to make it work; gonna get a new veg setup pretty soon; 2 8gal buckets with 4 5.5" netpots in em to preveg for the uc; could get lids with single 5.5" netpot openings as i wonder if a smaller netpot equals more roots in the bucket compared to a 8" netpot

Thanks for the recomendations. I have the pump fpr the 12xl and Im making it into a 8 xl so I think I might be fine now for air. Im also getting new air stones for sure.
Thanks for looking out i cant afford issues this run.

see, thats why i grow in organic soil,i basically just need to water,my yields suck but it is basically hassle free, except the bugs and getting rid of the soil and keeping 12 different kinds of poop in the house, its heavy, and expensive, like i said hassle free!

Hydro, thanks for all your postings.. They are gold to me.. I was just looking at the powerpak 20's at the depot wondering if they would work (I don't have the $$ for a UC and I trust your judgement of them).. How many powerpaks are you going to use in your grow and what are you useing for a pump for them... At 20 gallons each they should give some massive root balls.. TIA..

BBB 42 STG's last chance

BBB 42 STG's last chance

Well the 20gal trash is giving it a try with a large veg plant. So this Black Berry Bubba is 42" from tip to tail. My thought with the trash can is it is taller than the storage tub and the BBB is falling over. The STG is not as sturdy as hydroton so I think deep roots will be better than wide roots.

Leaving the veg room:

The light is 45" above the bottom of the plant:

And here she is feeling really lonely because this room is supposed to be about crazy girls touching and rubbing their stink all over each other.

Well soon more trash cans and more in the veg room. Hope all is good in your gardens.

Peace, :joint:
