I second that. It's a start and I'm keen to see how this develops over time. I've been to 3 of my local(ish) Gardencenters over the last couple of weeks and they've all stocked up on the new growing soils and fertilizers. It can only get better.

Since this month the remaining 8 other towns joined the Wiet Experiment it was a no brainer to witness this again historical moment.
Though for some reasons with a focus on hopefully new supplier companies which failed big time when visiting a shitload of coffeeshops in multiple towns.
Sadly only a tiny minority sold gear from Aardachtig[which was around too since the beginning] whilst the rest came up with mostly Fyta but also Canadelaar on their menus. Latter one was completely ignored for reasons stated before.
A shame other companies seeemingly weren't ready which is sorta inexplicable but then again I don't know when they were allowed to start their grows and other factors. Time will tell.
3Chems from Fyta(about 12€/g if memory serves me right)smelt of kush and earth is all I can say. This profile was tasted indeed during consumption, also relatively smooth on the lungs. Effects were strong enough, maybe a tad more on the body. All in all a good product in my humble opinion.
Amnesia Core Cut Dry Sift(10€/g) from Fyta we had to try since another regulated hashish on the market. Hashish? Well, uhm, when I took a look and used my nose my alarm bells rang already as it looked simply like low quality pollinated sift[an source told us when producing it they go for quantity of e.g. '1kg of this dry sift from 30 kg material' and it indeed looked like this ; don't know which ratio of plant matter and sifting time they use.].
Though it had a light smell of Amnesia at least compared to the dirt Canadelaar served us back in December.
So it was bought for the sake of trying regular gear as on the black market I wouldn't have touched it.
Suprisingly smooth and even a minimal taste of Amnesia was around as well. What wasn't around unfortunately was a buzz.
Ok, exaggerated but merely a medium one dimensional up high. Needless to say this 'cleaned grass'[read: way less plant material compared to their grass version but still way too much plant matter for being hashish]was gifted to someone in need along the way. Better than the approach from Canadelaar I reported about in December last year but would not buy it again. Saw later there was even sold an Ice Cream Cake Dry Sift for 12€/g by Fyta from their flagship but after inspection I don't expect better than this here.
It is such an offence they release such lows so I suggest giving this out for free with every gram of their Amnesia Core Cut grass they sell, haha ; really shows what they still think about most of the consumers out there – as if time would have stood still in the 1980ies , oh my. No false modesty please, people, we all deserve much better, this isn't even a standard of quality! Looks like someone left the pollinator or what ever device on for a night since it must be worth it, innit? I would say their base the Amnesia Core Cut is stronger in form of bud, yuk.

MAC from Aardachtig[about 13€ ; coming in jars of 1,5g]
One of the best looking buds of the material available yet. Very sweet,floral kushy nose. Taste was on point in those regards as well but since we also smoked some popular supposedly legit 'Cali' due to lack of other companies available
the MAC here was enjoyable smooth on the lungs but lacked the full creaminess the e.g. Ice Cream Cake from Fyta and quality 'Cali' provided. All in all still the best grass this trip. Very keen now trying other gear from them.
Conclusion: looks like company Fyta is in slight advance and supplying a lot of coffeeshops until the other 7 companies are able to join with ready product ; bit worrying despite they offer mostly quality. Hope others will come up with quality and competition, too! The fact that Canadelaar is similarily distributed is scary too since their quality approach is a bit of a joke but I can well imagine which type of customers they attract and it seems there is a demand
which then means the majority of customers going to coffeeshops still is about price rather than
quality at all costs[pun intended].

Funnily there was a minority of coffeeshops waiting for a choice before they buy regulated gear but at one point they have to get rid of their original merchandise and can only sell regulated material[which must happen after 3 or 6 months, not sure what applies currently].
Of course the choice declines with only ten companies in the game now but who knows what strains they really come up with? Let alone if this experiment is promising and – it is still allowed to dream right? - Dutch goverment is legalising, there hopefully will at some point licences given out to small scale growers and shit for diversity!
In the end I can underline again that grass mostly on by Fyta and most probably Aardachtig is a damn progress compared to the schwag of the last decade they sold at coffeeshops mostly even though in recent years it got a bit better[talking about most cs beyond major cities but elsewhere it wasn't that much better as I reported a lot].
Apart from that, especially when thinking of 'local coffeeshops' deep in the provinces and indeed not major cities there is too often a riddiculous choice of 1-2 hazes, White Widow and a few others of dubious quality[but even that changed in the last years ; by the way I say it again I tend to not care about genetics as long as they are proper grown]so if each company from the already existing ten is only offering 5-10 strains with guaranteed respectively tested good quality I am quite sure the average joe instead of a dedicated homegrower is well happy with this choice[especially since there was not really more choice in said coffeeshops before] ; not to forget choice on the black market now is of doubtful origin and probably often relabelled as well.
Since you said you are living in the Netherlands[I pretty much respect privacy so don't need to know anything as only interested in content myself but I have to think about the cliché of the average Dutchie don't wanna go at best more than 30 minutes by car within the country to whereever and everything more is a sorta odyssey. Just saying
]it is quite possible one town participating in the Wiet experiment is near you so why not take a look? Again, just saying, enjoy!

Yes, this menu is more haze 'heavy' but I think the other companies will come up with haze strains as well but you are right, focus is more on genetics of recent years.

Time for another snapshot in time from the provinces during our latest holiday and so partly the current offerings from the Wiet experiment :
Fyta
Apples & Bananas [about 11-12€/g]
Bit of a darker colour and relatively compact buds though in the end not very memorable so commercial high grade to me. Nice enough taste leaning to the kush side and nice enough strength.
Race Fuel OG [about 12-13€/g]
Compact flower and nice enough resin coverage. Also pleasant earthy – kushy taste clearly present and nice enough effect. All in all a high grade product to me but not special while no offence is intended.
Zwirlz [ about 13€/g ]
Special flowery smell here which was transported well to my palate, also strong enough cocoon of sedation provided. Top 3 on this stay I'd reckon so closely third place behind the Humo Dolce.

Of course I wanted to try their version of this classic! Bubble gum, anyone? Very sweet clear typical smell and taste was so smooth , lovely. All in all one of the best Amnesias I ever had. Compared to Fyta’s version from last December this one here wasn't as good looking but better tasting so slightly better in my humble opinion.
Proof is in the pudding and all that.
RS11 [ about 12-13€/g ]
Stereotype kush profile, bit of creaminess and strong enough effect. On one hand I can say it should leave the average consumer satisfied , I on the other side expected more somehow and while it is still probably the best of this lot of regulated grass this time it e.g. is not on the level of the Ice Cream Cake from Fyta which still needs competition.
Compared to the Rs11 version from Fyta from the other day I can only again say Fyta’s looked a touch better but otherwise only marginal differences.
Humo Dulce [about 13€/g]
Again looking funny but of course not as bad as the gear from Canadalaar , lol. Though again also here the pudding tasted much better and best thing was the taste itsself which I can't put my finger on was something different. 'Flowery' is all I can say and makes it the second best this time!
Cookies N Cream [ about 12-13€/g]
Too leaning on the kush side but all in all nothing special so still not bad but at least commercial high grade. Again, it seems only real bad stuff is to be had at Canadalaar, yuk.
Conclusion: this time with a slight focus on gear from Aardachtig and would reckon they're despite having way less on offer and ready than Fyta they're nonetheless a bit better in overall quality so looking forward to more from them. Hopefully proper hashish/sift to come as well since Aardachtig's for example was sold out everywhere we went.
Sadly still only those three companies available but a lot of staff told us other will soon be ready and not to forget nothing luckywise was bought from seemingly clueless and ignorant Canadalaar, haha.
What I noticed with Fyta and Aardachtig too and worth mentioning: never came across a dried out / too dry or wet example of their lines yet which is in fact the most basic thing one requires when it comes to fine grass but sadly is not the case on the black market supplying coffeeshops from the past to this very day ; though I am not saying all is perfectly cured. I fully enjoy this!

But I imagine it's a nice change from the boring mostly bad grown black market weed sold upto now.
I think there will always be a connaisseur black market (that mostly never saw the coffeeshops in the past anyway) next to the big legal producers cutting a big part of the big illegal market that upto now supplied the shops. So these people probably need to find them a new hobby.... LOLs

I was in Dam this month. There was a whole load of fumigated weed around. The kind of floral bouquet, that flowers of any kind, just can't produce. One spray in particular seemed to be everywhere. With varying degree's of application. Non carried through to the smoke though. It was there on the inhale, before you lit it. Not in the burn.
I had not heard of this new regulation trial. It's probably behind this new phenomenon.

Sprayed weed is the end game of global legalization. Fake ass perfume weed. It doesn't smell good. Youre lucky if you can't taste it. But every idiot with an IQ under 100 will say it's amazing, and that you're an old reggie smoking fool because you expect weed to taste enjoyable and like weed. The reggie I grew up on was better than the weed of today, in flavor and effect, but kids today can judge weed by looks, through a picture.
You can thank people like Ethan Russo and Kevin jodrey for spreading the perfume terpene nonsense. Send a sample of anything to the lab. A piece of ham, a piece of furniture, a piece of plastic, a piece of clothing. It will come back from the cannabis lab with linalool, myrcene, limonene, terpinolene etc. It's very obvious that these have never been desirable molecules to have in weed. Yet now they are spraying them on weed.
As someone who has been chasing the loudest weed possible for a very long time, it's not fun being told "it's too terpy for ya huh" by some idiot kid trying to sell me Durban Poison that smells like Redhots, soap, and lemon peel.

i have seen some samples, some good some not so, to bad you cannot look and smell it before you buy !!!!
and the weed hash from morocco, lots of it here. funny stuff, very melty, when that is gone only plant material left. i prefer landrace moroc or others from real hash producing countries....

Not sure which spray you are refering to, please name coffeeshops where you supposedly have smelt this since such needs to be named and shamed. Personally witnessed first hand when they started to spray aroma 17 years ago at coffeeshops(strawberry, apple, blueberry but most of this disappeared)and approached on this nothing was hidden by staff etc but makes sense as millions out there smoke tobacco laced with any fruit flavours at bars. Just yuk but each to their own, huh?
Not convinced myself whether they really use a spray for e.g. kush flavour et cetera or not nowadays but one never knows. There were rumors but at one point it would have been noticed I guess.
By the way this Wiet experiment isn't particularly about such sprays but in general about clean grass from an official source compared to illegally grown from too often careless black market spots ; also to fight growing oranised crime structures and prevent this in general. And not to forget: if Dutch goverment[or any other] has the balls to fully legalise after this trial it is about taxes and money as ususal.

Most if not all coffeeshops taking part in the Wiet experiment have jars or such where they have fresh samples of the grass they sell from the Wiet experiment so one can sniff. As when Covid19 started I welcomed some extra cleanliness at too often grimy coffeeshops so I also welcome such sealed bags now and less careless customers stick their nose into the tub or touch the wares. Same for budtenders.
Bummer you are so conservative about the hashish with foreign genetics but live and let live in the end.

Don't know to which extend but some of the genetics this company uses are linked to Karma Genetics.
Attention please beforehand two points of criticism:

Fortunately we talked to someone in the know from coffeeshop staff about the requirements for growers from the Wiet experiment. Well, I think I am sometimes overcritical but it amazes me I can still be naive: regulated grass from the Wiet experiment gets tested on heavy metals[6], nutrients and fungi which are all mandatory. Pesiticides aren't mandatory.
Only official remark by Dutch goverment I found here. Please, if anyone has further informations or a link, post it!
Not at all surprising since with food it is the same sorta. Bit of a letdown nonetheless but either nevertheless I buy from official sources I can blame for something in theory in opposite to some random black market sources whom don't take responsibilty at all.
By the way: from the four companies at the minute taking part in the Wiet experiment only Aardachtig and Canadelaar grow organic. Fyta and Hollandse Hoogtes do not.

Since it is essential to me not to white wash things I have to report this:
when we queued up for the grass of Hollandse Hoogtes a Dutchie in front of us went nuts when picking up what appeared to be the last bags of something since I noticed a few blue bags in his hands and after purchase was rolling one up for the road as well.
We finished our purchase and he commented our blue bags as well proudly showing us his wares as well as telling us how he repeatedly came back for more since the release day of this company[September].
Since he got two more strains[forgot the other one]he let us have a sniff at them.
I am heavily into most objectivity possible so I took a full nose of the package he rolled one from. I smell a somewhat lovely strong enough flowery scent. Then I look at the label.
I read: Exodus Cheese.
I immediately experiencied disappointment to put it mildly. Though I of course gave it another go but still smell no Exodus Cheese.
Which is due to its unique terpene profile in my alltime top 5 no matter if others like it or not, I wrote my story with the original cut here which is essential to understand my post here.
It not even had the Cheese funk I am used to from the watered down seedline versions off Big Buddha seeds[again we had a damn good cut we selected from their Blue Cheese line and their Cheese version later sold at coffeeshops - when they lost the original Exodus cut - had this Cheese funk but totally watered down though at least noticeable]

was usually sold in the last decade. When I think about it though they mostly not even had this bland Cheese touch they used to carry as I often give
coffeeshops a chance when I see it on a menu but indeed it must be easily 5 years or probably more I smelt a bland version.

setup I expect transparency and honesty – again, that's why we started to grow back in the days to get rid off such liars and unprofessionalism ; being autarchic and all that.
I bet, if it is a case of intentional mislabelling, they'd come up with 'It's good grass, relax, it doesn't matter in the end, does it?' or 'Our cut isn't exactly the original Exodus but was selected from seeds where for breeding this cut was used thus Exodus is the base, don't be pedantic', lol.
Of course only my point of view but hope anyone chimes in familiar with the original Exodus cut and tried Hollandse Hoogtes version.
Why not just naming it Cheese? This would be less irritating.
Conclusion: as mentioned above I try to be as neutral as possible outside a lab[quite into random double blind tests]and know I am still biased but despite I find this fake name sad it won't negatively affect my ratings since dishonesty would shoot my foot in the end.
Though it is another reminder to grow again when circumstances are sorted.
Not to forget most strain names for grass or hashish are childish and riddiculous, let alone no trademarks around yet but using well established names for an own line having not much to do with it is sad.
Of course I will try their version here next time I will get my hands on it to give it a proper test and I am sure it will be nice enough but most probably no Exodus Cheese. Would love to be proven wrong!
Back to the reviews: bummer we had to buy a bigger pack of each strain this time as all was sold out since even in a group we don't like to smoke the same or want to bin it so some of it was given away to some random coffeeshop clientle and it is always amazing how people appreciate this.
Zizi [about 12/13€ per gram]
Smooth creamy kush taste which was transfered nicely from the smell though not very deep in taste. Effects were nice enough. All in all good high grade.
Zowahh 12/13€ per gram]
Looked better than the Zizi. Strong complex herbal kush taste but less smooth than the Zizi. Effects were too nice enough. All in all good high grade.
Both nice enough buds, not too dry or wet either as on the average in regards to the Wiet experiment and its supply!
If the Zizi would be as intense in taste as the Zowahh it would be very good. Same with the Zowahh if it would have been equipped with the smoothness of the Zizi.
Hope next time we are more lucky with more strains from Hollandse Hoogtes as this was promising and they were immediately to my liking similar to gear from Aardachtig. Too another company is soon ready too I heard.

Not sure which spray you are refering to, please name coffeeshops where you supposedly have smelt this since such needs to be named and shamed. Personally witnessed first hand when they started to spray aroma 17 years ago at coffeeshops(strawberry, apple, blueberry but most of this disappeared)and approached on this nothing was hidden by staff etc but makes sense as millions out there smoke tobacco laced with any fruit flavours at bars. Just yuk but each to their own, huh?
Not convinced myself whether they really use a spray for e.g. kush flavour et cetera or not nowadays but one never knows. There were rumors but at one point it would have been noticed I guess.
By the way this Wiet experiment isn't particularly about such sprays but in general about clean grass from an official source compared to illegally grown from too often careless black market spots ; also to fight growing oranised crime structures and prevent this in general. And not to forget: if Dutch goverment[or any other] has the balls to fully legalise after this trial it is about taxes and money as ususal.

Most if not all coffeeshops taking part in the Wiet experiment have jars or such where they have fresh samples of the grass they sell from the Wiet experiment so one can sniff. As when Covid19 started I welcomed some extra cleanliness at too often grimy coffeeshops so I also welcome such sealed bags now and less careless customers stick their nose into the tub or touch the wares. Same for budtenders.
Bummer you are so conservative about the hashish with foreign genetics but live and let live in the end.
During our latest holiday we were lucky to pick up some gear from the latest company having joined the Wiet experiment.
Hollandse Hoogtes it is!
Don't know to which extend but some of the genetics this company uses are linked to Karma Genetics.
Attention please beforehand two points of criticism:

Fortunately we talked to someone in the know from coffeeshop staff about the requirements for growers from the Wiet experiment. Well, I think I am sometimes overcritical but it amazes me I can still be naive: regulated grass from the Wiet experiment gets tested on heavy metals[6], nutrients and fungi which are all mandatory. Pesiticides aren't mandatory.
Only official remark by Dutch goverment I found here. Please, if anyone has further informations or a link, post it!
Not at all surprising since with food it is the same sorta. Bit of a letdown nonetheless but either nevertheless I buy from official sources I can blame for something in theory in opposite to some random black market sources whom don't take responsibilty at all.
By the way: from the four companies at the minute taking part in the Wiet experiment only Aardachtig and Canadelaar grow organic. Fyta and Hollandse Hoogtes do not.

Since it is essential to me not to white wash things I have to report this:
when we queued up for the grass of Hollandse Hoogtes a Dutchie in front of us went nuts when picking up what appeared to be the last bags of something since I noticed a few blue bags in his hands and after purchase was rolling one up for the road as well.
We finished our purchase and he commented our blue bags as well proudly showing us his wares as well as telling us how he repeatedly came back for more since the release day of this company[September].
Since he got two more strains[forgot the other one]he let us have a sniff at them.
I am heavily into most objectivity possible so I took a full nose of the package he rolled one from. I smell a somewhat lovely strong enough flowery scent. Then I look at the label.
I read: Exodus Cheese.
I immediately experiencied disappointment to put it mildly. Though I of course gave it another go but still smell no Exodus Cheese.
Which is due to its unique terpene profile in my alltime top 5 no matter if others like it or not, I wrote my story with the original cut here which is essential to understand my post here.
It not even had the Cheese funk I am used to from the watered down seedline versions off Big Buddha seeds[again we had a damn good cut we selected from their Blue Cheese line and their Cheese version later sold at coffeeshops - when they lost the original Exodus cut - had this Cheese funk but totally watered down though at least noticeable]

was usually sold in the last decade. When I think about it though they mostly not even had this bland Cheese touch they used to carry as I often give
coffeeshops a chance when I see it on a menu but indeed it must be easily 5 years or probably more I smelt a bland version.
I don't know if this company here were fooled themselves when picking up the cut or they intentionally use the 'Exodus' tag for marketing purpose but to me this feels just wrong. If latter possibilty it strongly reminds me of black market dealers and coffeeshops claiming to sell certain wares under fake names but in a regulated/legal
setup I expect transparency and honesty – again, that's why we started to grow back in the days to get rid off such liars and unprofessionalism ; being autarchic and all that.
I bet, if it is a case of intentional mislabelling, they'd come up with 'It's good grass, relax, it doesn't matter in the end, does it?' or 'Our cut isn't exactly the original Exodus but was selected from seeds where for breeding this cut was used thus Exodus is the base, don't be pedantic', lol.
Of course only my point of view but hope anyone chimes in familiar with the original Exodus cut and tried Hollandse Hoogtes version.
Why not just naming it Cheese? This would be less irritating.

I am a lightweight smoker and have more than enough organic homegrown to choose from.
Until the state weed entered the shops i wouldn't smoke shop weed because of the vertimec sprays a lot of growers use to battle common spider mites and the selection of strains was disappointing to say at least.
And most weed sold was grown without to much love and that shined through in the end product.
I love haze hybrids (not amnesia though) and sativas that shops never carry here.
