leaves turning yellow and slight burns?

Rubbermaid Grow Setup:
-184 watts of CFL @ 2700k
-Grow chamber temperatures 70-80 *F
-2/3 Perlite + 1/3 Peatmoss
-Soil runoff pH: 6.0-6.5
-Water about every 4 days, so far only 2 fertilized feedings (300ppm FloraNova Grow)
-Day 23 since transplanted into soil
-12/12 lighting from seed

i ordered dolomite lime online and haven't received it yet however I've been adjusting the pH of my water so that the runoff pH stays around 6. once i get the dolomite lime the plants will be transplanted from the beer cups to gallon pots.

Well, man if it was me, I'd get that plant into some good soil. Hard to say if you're lacking N or if it's a slight burn.

Ok 23 days in the Beer Cup?
watering every 4 days... they don't look over watered.
Are they root bound?

that bottom part of the stem.. just below the cotyledons seems very thin for 23 days old.

Back off the feedings and you might want to transplant into larger pots.
they don't look too bad.

they've been under 12/12 lighting since seed plus they had a week of cold temps (before i got a heater) and acidic soil that stunted growth.

i plan on using this soilless mixture but add dolomite lime and continue to use the FloraNova nutrients.

how can i tell if they're rootbound? the plants are only like 2.5-3" tall.

Wait until your medium has dried out........put your hand over the top of the cup with the plant between your fingers. Turn it over & gently slide the cup up to get a peek at the roots.

so you guys think maybe the feedings are too strong? should i cut back to say 150ppm? anything else I should do?

Oh an i just fed them yesterday with the same watering (300ppm of FloraNova Grow). Should I flush it out with some pH adjusted water?

I woiuldn't flush if you just fed them.. could over water them at this point.
If it's been a while and the soil is dry sure go ahead.

You could also transplant them into better soil mix in a larger pot at this stage. They seem small for the age, but not real bad.. you have time so don't OVER DO IT!

I think the jury is still out. reading over your first post, I'm thinking there might be a N shortage here. Bipedalhominid thought that might be also.

12/12 lighting from seed? What are you going to do to trigger flowering?
16/8 or 18/6 would seem better to add a little veg to it.

12/12 from seed and I'm letting them flower whenever they are mature enough to do so. i'm pretty sure i see preflowers now, but not positive.

N shortage? so do you think i should increase the concentration of my ferts? also, when do you think i should begin the FloraNova Bloom nutrients?

No, I don't wish to recomend that yet. What is the ppm and timing recomendations from FloraNova?

If those will just go into flower, that is news to me. I've never seen it or read about it before. I've always seen a shift in lighting hours to cause flowering. Say from 18/6 to 12/12. 12 hours of uninterrupted darkness to maintain flower cycle. Could be a method I'm not aware of. Still somewhat a newb.

Anyone out there? Does 12/12 from seed function?

there have been successful grows 12/12 from seed, if you look around you'll find a few grow diaries documenting it. plus it seems like some members are even trying to push for a 12/12 forum.

anyways, here are better pics, plus an additional problem (?) in my other plants.
the back of the floranova grow bottle states:

0.625ml/L..........1/2 tsp/gal.........300ppm......Seedlings, Orchids & African Violets
1.25ml/L............1 tsp/gal...........600ppm.......Most plants during early growth

The Claw

Thats over feeding not under.

The back of the bottle does not assume you are growing in a Beer Cup at 23 days.

Slow down, claum down everything will be ok.

haha thanks, its my first grow so naturally i'm fucking with my plants too much even through i've read countless times to watch out for these common mistakes lol

It looks like the edges of the leaves stopped growing and the rest tried to keep going.

N shortages try to consume N from the lower part of the plant.

Both of these looks could be from a shortage. But there seems to be more going on than just N. Possible insect? (I don't think so .. just possible from the spots on the leaves.)

thanks sinful .. BTW nice avatar

Good!

I'm not the experts expert either, so I try to stick to what I think I can answer correctly.

We love to help the new grower. :woohoo:
Others will come in and see things I don't so I learn alot this way too.

Your ok, just get that Lime and transplant.

Take a breath

Take a breath

you may have 1 problem with one plant and another problem with the others.

Just because one plant reacts a certin way under the same conditions does not mean the others will.

When are you going to get the Lime and remix the soil?

they are not going to die on you :)

your plants actually look pretty decent to me ... just wondering, how far away are those cfl's ?

they are about 2 inches away from the CFL's (with a sheet of plexiglass between). that pic with the sharpie is of the plant with the most stretch. there are 5 in total and 2 have very tight nodes. i ordered the lime online last friday so hopefully it'll be here soon. once that comes in ill be transplanting all the plants into gallon pots.
