Leafblowers

Kaos!

The only thing a leaf blower does is move Your leaves/dirt/rubbish onto Someone else's space.

Rakes have been around for 1000's of years, and don't make noise pollution, nor oil/fuel-mix pollution.

Blowers are for lazy People.

Kaos!

I agree with some of the people here: Instead of complaining about it, why don't you go talk to your neighbor and hopefully work things out? A little communication never hurt anyone - people seem to forget that. It is up to the people in a community to coexist with each other; no amount of government ordinance or rules and regulations from a third-party would remedy that.

If you didn't want to deal with neighbors, you should've bought a couple acres in the woods (or maybe asked around the neighborhood and got to know your neighbors before you moved in). Your neighbors telling the city on you not taking care of your lawn, before even talking to you about it (did he/she?) would be a real asshole thing to do, in my opinion. You should perhaps set an example and talk with him about it.

Complain to the city you live in about the noise ordinance violations. If you have no noise ordinance in your city, do your best to get one instituted. Use the gov't for what it's there for people.

Don't come on a website and bitch about it because noone can do anything about it for you. You may actaully have to take the bull by the horns and do something about it yourself.

I really would prefer fewer regulations in general. Unfortunately, regulations are the only things that seem to give people common sense. So it's really a toss-up. Deal with people who only restrain themselves when the law tells them to, or force the law to tell them to.

I guess it isn't even a question about that, since I don't think I would ever call the city on any of my neighbors. Even that old douchebag that calls the city on me. I guess I'm just pissed off mainly because the nature of most people is not to give a flying **** about their neighbors or even strangers on the street unless there are laws that mandate them to do so. (Like right of way for pedestrians, which most people don't even follow.)

I'm just sick of the fact that law and religion (fear of going to hell) are the two things that keep most people from just attacking other people randomly as soon as they see something they want. Law and religion don't truly teach compassion though, and that's what people are lacking these days. If they did have more compassion, they'd use a damn rake.

It's my girlfriend's house.. her mother died and left it to her. But when they bought the house, the guy they bought it from told her that the next door neighbor is a crazy bitch. I guess they bought the house anyway.

So sometimes, people that live in this house will be outside and the neighbor will come by and have a nice friendly chat about nothing in particular (certainly not about the house/yard/etc). Then the next day we will get a visit from the city telling us she complained about one thing or another. We asked her what her problem was and she basically gave the old "Youre lowering the property value of my house" excuse. Of course, having some weeds in the back yard, not visible from the street, is certainly going to put her house into a lower tax bracket </sarcasm>

Basically, some people are just bitter assholes and the only time I really would like to talk to her is to laugh in her face when her house is burning down.

Well, then, that's probably just her own individual problem. I'm guessing she's a coward so she's unable to tell you directly, yet at the same time she feels guilty about it so she comes over for small chat - to prop up her "image". I'm really not Dr. Phil but I have gotten that impression about some people I've met. But still... I'm going to have to disagree with you here about "regulations are the only things that seem to give people common sense". In my opinion, more regulations only breed more people like your neighbor who can't take the responsibility of her own opinions, and confront you directly. Instead, she appeals to authority. The more regulations there are, the more people expect the government to take care of their personal problems. I truly believe that just in principle.

Sometimes you have to go out of your way just to deal with assholes like these. That just shows you're a better man. As always, regulation is just the easy way out.

Yep. I agree. That's why I'm against more regulations. Everyone says they want the government out of their private lives, and yet complain to the government every chance they get. "I want the government out of my life, but I want my neighbor to stop blowing leaves early in the morning so I will include it in HIS life for MY benefit"

marx - Keep being the bigger person. Better to vent here, than jack with a dipstick neighbor, and bring yourself trouble. Kill her with kindness, and take your frustration out at GROW CLUB.

Sucks that it's kind of a two edged sword with reagard to laws, and regulations, but we all have to learn to get along with each other. ...even if somsone toally sucks like your neighbor.

It'd be cool if the whole world could do that.
