Hi,
I'm starting a new thread dedicated to the Laos Luang Prabang landrace seeds that Ace offers or used to offer. Here's the product description:

///////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////
ACE Seeds - Lao Luang Prabang

Aka: Lao Sativa

Original seeds which come directly from Luang Prabang growers of the north of Laos.

It is a pure sativa with classic features of the southeastern asian sativas, very similar to the thai varieties in their appearance, aromas and high. However, unlike the current thai varieties, Laos has been more preserved from external influences, conserving the originality and authenticity of its varieties.

No doubt this sativa will be of great interest to growers and seekers of old legendary sativas.

Resistance against SPIDER MITES: Medium
Resistance against MILDEW: Medium-High
Resistance against BOTRYTIS: Very High
Resistance against COLD: Medium

GENETICS: 100 % Laos Luang Prabang sativa. LANDRACE STRAIN
FLOWERING: 13-16 weeks. Late November / December
STRUCTURE: Tall and thin sativa, with medium-tall internodes, a pale color and branches in a bamboo structure.
YIELD / M2: Medium
BOUQUET: Woody, spicy and citric aromas.
HIGH: Clean, happy and sense-elevating. Of medium duration and power, but without tolerance limits.

GROWING TIPS: For indoor growing, we mostly recommend her for extreme sativa lovers or for breeding projects or seed production.

For outdoor growing, it requires a tropical or subtropical climate in order to reach its full potential. However, it can be easily bred within latitudes of 20°-35°, where we recommend a warm and coastal climate. The use of a greenhouse is very helpful for the ripening in non-tropical latitudes.

It requires medium-low levels of nutrients, especially of Nitrogen. For outdoor growing, it's best to mix a good base of organic soil rich in guano and humus, and then plant the seeds in a sunny place and leave them to grow at their own rhythm almost without using fertilizers or stimulators.

I believe they come by way of Gypsy Nirvana:

Maybe Ace can clear up if they are from the same collection or a new collection from the same breeder a subsequent year or something else all together.

Anyone who's grown this strain is welcome to chime in and I'd love to here from Ace/Dubi his thoughts on this strain and why it seems it's no longer offered.

I'll won't be sprouting mine for sometime but will probably do an indoor trial run before going outdoors. I'm in a Csa/Mediterranean climate but inexperienced with Sativas but am still pretty confident I'll do them justice :)

Its the original seeds from thailand growers. They are at seedboutique for very cheap since they are getting too old. They are the same as gn collection
I like this one but other landraces have me more interested.

Ah but this is a pure and un-worked landrace unlike the others on offer except for maybe the Guatemalan. It offers tremendous potential and possibilities for the right grower. I have dreams of breeding, developing and acclimatizing to my climate if the high is what I'm seeking.

The only other landrace I'm considering is Oaxacan but she is not easily available in pure form.

What other landraces have got you interested?

I visited Luang Prabang a little while ago. I went determined to have a break from pot which I did for two weeks but on my last night I got offered weed by a tuk tuk driver. It was amazing. It was very compressed and smelled strongly of hash. The smoke was instantly uplifting and joyous. The best part was that there was absolutely no paranoia.

I have been smoking nearly 35 years and this was one of the most enjoyable highs I've had. I grew up with thai sticks that were stronger but not nicer, than this. It really has me thinking that hybrids have not necessarily added to cannabis. Anyway hopefully will soon get some of these seeds and try them.

You were lucky indeed. Yheir seems to be a lot of people that smoked the old Thai stick. After 1982 they were basically extinct. Their were only so many boat loads coming across to supply the nation.Same with good, coming out of Fallbrook and Humbolt counties, up to Oregan. But anyone my age can remember, unless you lived in Cali and had good connections, you were getting Mexican brick in most of the nation. So I always take it with a grain of salt. I sent some good, remember the Mexican that was all over, Red hair sinsimilla? It wasn't the"kind" but good. I sent some to my cousin in Texas in '81, and he ask me what we put on it!! He actually thought it was laced. If you didn't live west, it was brick weed.

Hi hard rain, thanks for sharing your experience :) I can only hope mine turns out as nice as what you sampled from the locals. It's also seems quite similar to the high Ace describes for the strain. I also tend to agree that super strong or potent isn't always what it's cracked up to be and people are missing out on more enjoyable but milder highs.

I'm in Australia so as far as I know we didn't get Mexican, although I remember some compressed stuff that supposedly came from Colombia. Thai sticks were great and you are right, I don't recall any after the early 80s.

The Lao Laung Prabang is noticably different to the Thai. Thai could be scary and trippy whereas LP is uplifting, relaxing, mentally stimulating with no paranoia. Not couch lock either, you could get things done. I suspect no ceiling either although didn't get to smoke enough to find out.

Wish someone who has grown these would chime in.

Can anybody point me in the right direction for some info on this one? Not having any luck

I searched for quite some time trying to find a grow or information about someone that had grown Laos out. Still can't find one besides the one Dubi(Ace seeds) has on the website. I forgot to ask Dubi how the production has been going with Laos and how the smoke was. Hopefully he will drop in and hit us up with some good info and photos. Recent photos of a Laos would be even better Dubi. I don't know if you guys are still working with her or not, thanks a ton man.

After my Green Haze and Oldtimers' Hazes are done in 2 months, I plan to run a Laos. Will be about 8 months from now until you guys see finished product of Laos but atleast it will be a good smoke report. Or maybe someone will beat me to it .

I think Dubi has stated previously that this is just a re-list of stock from what was originally listed on Seed Boutique under GN's private collection. Same as the Thai Stick they have offered recently.

Hi Valley Kush,
Welcome to the thread :)

Here's the original write up from the good man himself Gypsy Nirvana:

https://www.seedboutique.com/catalog/product_info.php?products_id=1040

And an early thread (GN version):
https://www.icmag.com/ic/showthread.php?t=63948

It's no longer offered direct from Ace seeds but can still be found at some well known seedbanks and still seems to be available from the nice guys at the seed boutique.

Here's some pertinent info from Dubi too:

Lao sativa, Thai Stick and Mazari came directly from Gypsy Nirvana landrace collection, we tested the strains past winter but the seeds being sold come directly from growers from the native zones.

Here's an outdoor grow by member Gemuse(Ace):

https://www.icmag.com/ic/showthread.php?t=276898

Indoor CFL grow by member Inquest (GN stock):

https://www.icmag.com/ic/showthread.php?threadid=231895

And some pics from DoobieDuck (GN stock):

https://www.icmag.com/ic/showthread.php?t=83151

https://www.icmag.com/ic/showthread.php?t=83051

I think that should be more than enough to get you started :)

Hi Peacefrog,
If you read the Dubi quote I posted a little earlier it suggests the seeds come directly from the local growers each season so may differ slightly from the GN private collection.

Thanks for stopping in too :)

I'm pretty sure they're not doing this one anymore :( Good luck with your prospective Lao grow and be sure to post your experiences here too :) I've decided against doing any indoor Lao grows personally so will be at least 13 months before I have anything finished...

This sounds lovely, trouble is, it's going to take ages to hack my way through all of the rest of the Ace offerings :)
I must admit to getting a little envious when I hear older smokers reminiscing about the quality and the clarity of weed when they started smoking. I think I've had Thai Stick once (well, that was what it was supposed to be) and a little Indian charas once but other than that it's only been recently (last 12 years or so) that really nice flowers have come my way. I remember the dark old days of what we called bush weed, full of stems and seeds, pressed flat with probably less thc content than industrial hemp, for which we paid £15 an eighth or the diesel soaked soap bar that passed as hash.
Thankfully, there's genetics like Ace's available nowadays :)

Sad to here. Luckily there are still some for sell at a few places. I will have to pick up some packs for outdoor use for when I move. Will grab some Thai sticks also. 13 months is along time, which is why I choose to 12/12 the heavy tropic strains. I'll try a Laos indoor later this year to see if it's like Green Haze and OTH growth wise in size.

Indeed, Ace does have some crazy strains. My dad which smoked Pamana Red bud and Thai Stick when he was in Pamana during the war, said the Malawi I grew indoor under only 400w MH and 240 LED was the strongest he had ever smoked. It made my chest way to tight because I have a very bad anxiety disorder, harvested week 14. I'ma run the Malawi again till week 16 or 17 in hopes of dropping the anxiety effect. Then she will be perfect .

Sorry I think you misunderstood me. I won't be starting my outdoor Lao grow until late October next year and am anticipating 6-7 months of grow total. So final product in 13 months or so. If you've successfully done OTH or Green Haze before I'm sure you won't have any problems with this one ;) Good luck!

Hi SpaceBros,

The Laotian and Thai stick stock released in 2010 as limited editions came from Gypsy and were only available at our website for a short time. We have been busy with other projects so the strain has not been reproduced in the last years.

Here are some pics of my last trip to Laos. I liked a lot the sceneries, people and cannabis culture of this country.

Hi Dubi,
Welcome to the thread :) Can you tell us any more about the Lao Sativa, growing tips, hermaphrodite frequencies, crop uniformity etc apart from what's already on the strain description. Also we'd all love to see some pics to if you have time to share. Do you plan on breeding with this one in the future or is it not up to your high standards at Ace seeds.
Thanks
