...i dig what you're doing man and i'm really looking forward to watching the show but shit bro, that looks labor intensive!

 Looks can be deceiving...
What im showing is the flexibility of the base design..
If im going to go pheno hunting...
Im going to need a lot of plants in a very small space...
Looking like this will give me my 99 at a time but in a 4'x4' space.
I thought I would need a hella lot more space than that... Till now.

So what im going to do over the next month will be labor intensive yet the system it's self is a total set and forget system.

Im not even going to take the turface out of the pools between grows this season.

Simply going to flood the pools...
Pull the main root ball...
Flood and mix...
Clean the top and place the new Vegged up ladies.

Every thing I do is a test of a small part of a much bigger idea im working on...

 Anyways.. Just got home and smoked up... Lucky you... bla bla bla...

i started out running high-density micro-SOG's and after a few years i got really tired of all the work it took to care for over 50 plantlets.

i'm a lazy phuck by nature so i've gravitated to simple meaning i run 8 plants in 6liter coco hempy 'buckets' around a single barebulb 600, i'd love to add another 600 but i rent and the wiring in this house won't take the load.
I just did the 8 plant vert with 600 in KP x 2...

I hear ya on the old wiring... I pushed mine a little hard and don't have much more to spare...

Im just practicing here... These 45 will be culled to maybe 10 total... Maybe less...
Hun... Turn of the computer... The lights are going on...
The GF hate that...lol

Trying stacked 600's this run.. :woohoo: Since I only have 2 600's that means I need something for the other pool..

The only hesitation on the SCROG pool is the time frame...
From seed in a PPK it might take me a week to fill a 4' screen...

lol

It would take me a good 2 months to get it ready to flip...
If I knew I had all females...
I want to flip the 1st pool by months end...
Again.. bla,bla,bla...

anyway, i thought i'd chime in because first, my 'buckets' are actually trashcans and you mentioned trashcans, lol, plus, like you i also have incorporated Marlo's W.o.W tech into my gro, thanks Marlo.

Classic... I digs on the cheap... Your pictures are welcomed and thanks for sharing them... Looks dialed and easy money growing...Nice...

I didnt even know I incorporated Marlo's W.o.W tech...:jump:

...i'm also a Jack's Pro Hydro user so i wanted to mention that similarity too.
Solid...
...here's a couple pics of a re-veg where you can see the trashcan 'bucket' and the 'runoff tray' that i use, both from the dollar store btw, lol.

...and here's a shot inside the budding chamber which is a 4.5 x 4.5 x 7 closet i converted into my little secret garden.

...anyway, i hope you won't mind my intrusion considering i don't grow in a pool and if you'd like for me to remove my pics just let me know and i'll pull them.

peace, bozo

btw, that pic you posted above with the bathtub looks like a DIY version of aquaponics, ...if you have access and knowledge on how to use torrents you can go to Piratebay and download some VERY cool videos on 'Aquaponics', 'Murray Hallam' and 'permaculture', ...i think it's on the video 'Urban Permaculture' where one of the case studies is of a family that converted a large inground pool into a fishpond/garden that i think you will find VERY cool.

...here's a link to get you started if you have any interest.

aquaponics

Thanks for the Info man...
Im going to have to look into that
as I could see a couple uses for aquaponics...

Golden Ideas bro... K+++

...actually no man, no pumps are needed, there are no moving parts, at the top and inside of the intake pipe you have divisions, think a pipe filled with straws, ...anyway, these divisions create air bubbles in the water as it flows down into that intake pipe, ...now most of that air is lost but some of it is carried down the pipe with the water and when it hits the air chamber it naturally rises up and out of the water.

...so in the case of a trompe the intent is to capture and compress that air and to then tap into it as a power supply, for either equipment or generators or both, ...you could also run a line into an insulated room and have instant freezer with NO moving parts.

...that air is compressed isothermically so it is very cold and very clean.

anyway, in the case of a pulser pump it works in much the same way but simpler and without thought to harvesting the compressed air but instead just using it to move the water and yes, it moves it in pulses.

...here are some youtube videos on pulser pumps and trompes to give you a better idea what i'm talking about.

...thanks man, i learned everything i know on the cheap, i'm a disabled veteran living on a quickly shrinking disability pension so in the beginning DIY was my only option, lol.

I didnt even know I incorporated Marlo's W.o.W tech...
...apparently great minds DO think alike, lol.

here's a link to his thread where you will quickly see why i assumed you were familiar with his work, ...be sure and read at least the first couple pages as i think you will dig his light mover design based on a simple garage door opener.

very nice turtle and yeah, i recognize that siphon lol.

btw, this is a bit off topic but if you're interested in aquaponics and the like then you should dig this too but have you ever heard of a trompe? ...or a pulser pump?

both use falling water as a power supply and while it is very hard to find good info on either topic it is well worth the read when you do.

here is a diagram of the concept and as i said, both the trompe and the pulser pump function in much the same way (in the diagram the blow off pipe is the pulser pump of sorts, in this configuration it is meant as a safety valve but this is basically how a pulser pump works) with the difference being that the pulser pump uses air to move water and the trompe stores and isothermically compresses that air for use as a power supply, ...this is still how all equipment and power is generated in the mining industry btw, ...you can't burn fuel a thousand feet underground.

View Image

...if you're interested the best place to look would be permaculture websites, aquaponics websites, survivalist websites, shit like that and the reason it's so hard to find is because this technology has been actively suppressed by big oil since the 1920's, do some digging and i think you'll really enjoy what you learn.

peace, bozo

excellent stuff!!

yeah, both types ive read about and am STILL dialing in and figuring the best size pump to use for the airlift ratio,i also no so far that small bubbles increase the lift better and using airstones to lift the water works well..these things are easy to build kids are building them at schools EVEN IVE NOTICED LATELY online:biggrin:...nothing new....all us stoners just had to catch on....and start messing about!

all those FORUMS are my second home!!,well atleast the ones ive found so far, thanks for listing a few more, its amazing the STUFF you can find on those things,i MEAN realy ANYTHING!backyard aquaponics is also a great one!

Man I dig new concepts and designs...
Watching someone work through the bumps and refining an idea..Solid...

Really nice work Purple Turtle... Damn...
That's a lot of holes in that one pool... lol

kiddie pool, airlift, automated ebb and flow system

Interesting...

That's going to make for a great show...
Then some...

So that uses air to push water in something
like 2-3" sections up the pipe (Pulses) right ?
Takes a air pump though,right ?
~Water,air bubble,water,air bubble...~

Ive got questions but will wait for the show...

Really nice work and thanks for sharing the builds here...

Seems like builds are a good way to enter
the contest and share the knowledge...
Who knows what your pool will inspire
someone else to try...

:ying:

and there have been quite a few BUMPS,

Ive ALSO got many questions THAT i still need to be answered ,this is all new and in the experimental stage!heres some info in the mean time that will GREATLY help you understand a bit more about the airlift

Airlifts are simple but efficient devices
for moving water. The concept of airlifts
has been around for centuries. This article
will show you how you can use an airlift
pump to operate your Koi pond, including
waterfalls. Under some circumstances,
using an airlift can help you to
realize significant savings on your power
bill by using a low power air pump instead
of a much higher power water pump.
Much has been written about the use of
airlift pumps for aquaculture where airlifts
are used for aeration and circulation.
Koi ponds differ from aqua cultural ponds
in that they are smaller (500 to 50,000
gallons vs. 100's of thousand of gallons)
and they usually include ornamental features
such as streams and waterfalls. Operating
these features requires lifting the
water instead of just moving it.

Some generalizations can be made
about the relationship of these
parameters and the design of an
airlift.
· Increasing air injection depth
increases water flow.
· Increasing lift height decreases
water flow.
· Smaller diameter pipes are capable
of higher lift.
· Small air bubbles produce more
lift than large bubbles.
The key to producing an efficient
airlift is to find the best air flow.
Very low air flow will just produce
bubbles in the pipe and no water
will make it to the top. As the air
volume is increased, water will
start to flow to the top. Shortly
beyond this point, increasing the
volume of air will result in the
most efficient flow of water
(efficiency measured in water
flow per air flow). Continuing to
increase the air volume will produce
increases in water flow, but
at reduced efficiency. To efficiently
increase the flow of water,
you should add more lift pipes
operating in parallel instead of
putting more air into a single lift
pipe. (or use a larger diameter
pipe.)

many ways to use the airlift designs in multiple setups, takes abit of dialing though

Glad to have ya along for the ride bozo...

Always good to have peeps that pay forward and share the wealth.
Solid...

Were on the same page in many
ways and I find DIY so much more educating
than turn key sets ups...

I think I have built over or close to 10 different PPK systems.
From coffee can mini ppk to all in one 6 pot system on a single tote
all the way to Kiddie Pools...

All well under $100 and some almost free... Fun shit...
I have yet to build one that does not work...
Knock on wood...lol

Thanks for your time and the props,bro...
Much appreciated.:ying:

Anyways... :woohoo:

...thanks for the link man, i've subscribed and i'll give it a read.

if you're interested here is a link to one of my early threads, actually this is to the build thread for the cab i used to run that high-density micro-SOG in, ...i had 55 x 1liter pots in there at capacity, lol.

justanother stealth, DIY, 2x 150 HPS bud box, ...bozo style!

...here's what it looks like although i have to admit i retired her about a year ago.

picture.php

...here's a shot after i upgraded to a 400CMH and a proper hood.

picture.php

...and a shot of the 1liter 'pots' i was running back then.

...i learned a LOT building and running that op and it was totally DIY until the upgrade and even the upgraded light was a project i built from a kit, lol, so yeah, i'm a DIY'er at heart.

peace, bozo

btw, if you take a look through my albums you'll get a pretty good handle on where i'm at and where i've been and if you want more details just search for threads in my name, ...my motherbox build even made the DIY link-o-rama, my small claim to fame, lol.
