For some of the comments on here...remember, they had 18 plants...I betcha at least some, if not most of them were clones--
The News video also said that they are out without posting Bail, just a signature Bond-- And the kids are all with them-- Child Protective Services were never involved--
Really sounds like only a few flowering plants, and some clones...maybe a Mother or 2--

P.S. The couple 'holier than thou' people posting up on this thread are grade A hypocrites or just don't belong on this forum. None of you even know how hidden or not hidden the grow area was. for all we know, it was behind 2 locked doors and a hidden wall and jr. dbag saw his dad go in there one night.

I find this comment to be kind of ludicrous.
If you grow cannabis you can't have children, is the unsaid.
Those plants probably provided that kid with his meals on a regular basis. Something no company, job, neighbor, or government did.
This isn't to say these folks sold...it is to say they didn't engage in having shady individuals in their lives by purchasing, thus saving money...and in all reality, making it a SAFER situation for their child to be around.
Seems to me they WERE being responsible and the government just doesn't like how they figured out to make life better for themselves.

I dont think that growing weed in my house is gonna change any laws. I also dont think that having my kids taken away would change any either.
With that being said, Ive grow weed, but I didnt think that growing weed was taking any sort of stance against the system that was gonna change any kind of laws. Thats just not the way shit works.
The parents are a chiropractor and a programmer, so I find it doubtful that they were dependent on the grow for income. A non-med state and 5 kids that, if they were normal at all, knew every square inch of that house and all of it's contents. If you have kids, you know that they are going to find where you hide their Christmas presents, your sex toys, and your pot. It's folly to think that kids that age are going to keep a secret, even if they've been taught that it is a secret. They can also be incredibly emotional through adolescence and make piss-poor decisions as a result.
i agree with most of this i don't understand the non med state thing, but where is the problem with them finding the grow room... similarly to how kids are going to find your guns... so they should be taught respect for both of them from a young age.
Id be much more concerned with young kids getting into the liquor cabinet and drinking themselves to death or getting into some accident than if they found some living bud plants.

minus the punkass i told both my boys from start old enough to understand. say nothing about what i do and what gose on in the house. when my boys where old enough for school and then the dare classes in school i had no worries

I think the kids a fucking idiot but so are the parents. If you want to grow get another spot.
My kids looked forward to the day they had D.A.R.E. class. Why? Because that was the day that they got to stay at home and hang out with dad. When D.A.R.E. first hit the schools that program was telling the kids to turn their parents in for drug use. I wasn't worried about my kids turning me in. We had that talk about what happens when the parents go to jail. I was more worried about the propaganda of the whole D.A.R.E program.
With that said I grew in the house since the kids were in diapers. I had one scare that caused me to move the grow. Because one of my kids wanted to show that her parents were cool. Not cool. Nothing ever came of it but we had to have the talk again. I would never tell anyone not to grow with kids, but, I would say it is very risky to do so. I will advocate against sending your children to school on the day the D.A.R.E. program is there.

The non-med state thing was because if you do this with kids in the house, it's a near certainty that word is going to get out and you might have a prayer of not getting free room & board if you are in a med state. Absolutely agree on the liquor cabinet statement.
Kids cannot be expected to understand the consequences of some arbitrary bullshit legal status for something that they consider normal and have been raised around. Even if they do come to some understanding that what their parents are doing is not the norm, then they will want to share that information with their friends to demonstrate how cool their parents are. Now, the kid in this case was old enough at 15 that he should understand legal consequences, but he is still too young to process information like an adult. Puberty can make for some highly emotional times - who knows what bizarre rationalization this may be the result of.
I don't think there is any harm in kids being around a grow per se. The harm is going to come to the adults as a result of the kids not being able to hold to the first rule of growing.

Its not free anymore. When you get out they charge you to put you on probation. Pretty soon they are going too be charging per night in jail, Im sure.

what can anyone do with fresh buds... some hand rub... i bet a kid would likely give up eating any buds or charas long before they could get high... it takes a lot of non decarb THC to have effects. and even if a kid did get stoned out of their mind eating bud nothing bad would happen to the said child... they may take a long nap... but what else?

i know the kid is only 15, and has NO FUCKING IDEA how jacked up what he did is, but in a way i hope the state tells them they can inly have 3 out of the 4 kids back and the parents make the logical decision

the friends I have with kids have made sure that the kids know that if they tell anyone their lives will be forever changed for the worse. It will scare the shit out of them but in the long run an informed kid is a smart kid. Secrets are something you don't want your kids to have, so why should you hide things from them? There is one thing that is certain, they will find out one way or another. I would prefer to be the one telling my hypothetical kid about things, not a teacher or DARE officer.
The truth will always save lots of headaches down the road.
