Im going to order a few of these tomorrow for my 3x36 column and to heat my pots... any advice on order details? Im going to look back and see which thermocouple you all went with to be molded onto it and wattage yall prefer. Im digging the velcro straps too.

If I get a thermocouple molded to a strip for my water pot, could I go with wiring it to a circular heat mat with no thermocouple then to a PID and have it work properly? do the wattages need to be the same, or same watt per sq in? I want to be sure I do this right :)

From those who have experience with the heat mats, is it more effective to get mats to heat a pot of water and set the machine in it, or just have the heat mats directly heat the collection basin?

water pots. The heat mats have hot spots and dont keep up the best and i believe GW & WW had issues with the mats melting anything they sat on like whatever that plastic their carts for the MKV's have that everything sits on.

A6,

Thanks brotha! That's pretty much what I thought, but I wanted to ask. I think I'll go with a 15" stock pot and just warm the water with the heat mats. For something like that, I would get a 370mm (14.5") diameter heat mat for the bottom and a 6" x 45" (150mm x 1150mm) to wrap around the outside of the pot (15 x 3.14 = 47.1").

What wattage would you suggest for these mats? In previous posts I have seen numbers around 500-600w (110v) for these. If both of them are 600w will that be enough heat?

And then lastly I'm planning to get a 215mm x 860mm (8.5" x 34") heat mat to recover my 3" x 36" columns. I'm planning to make this one 700w. Is this enough power for this application?

Thanks,

GH,

Here is the order I put in with Keenovo. Mr. Tang's recommendations are as follows for a 3x36. Not sure this will help or not.

We'd be glad to make another one for your 3" x 36" column.

Silicone Heat Blanket
Size: 9" X 34" (229mm X 864 mm)
Suggested Power: 500W @ 110V
Accessories:
1) Integrated Rainbow adjustable thermostat of 0~80 Deg C
2) 1m power cable
3) Velcro straps for easy mounting
Qty: 1

Sparton70,

Thanks man! I'll go with those specs for the columns.

For my pot heating mats, I would really like for them to be controlled together. Do you guys think I could ask them to wire them together to a single controller? Also, for this set up, is it better to have a thermocouple molded into the heating mat for a surface temp at the side of the pot, or can the digital controller come with a temp probe that I can be put down in the water?
