Kali china is really something i need to try. I grew most of ace genetics, by myself or i convince friend to try them, and i can say that these chinese gene are probably the most interesting thing to explore in all ace gene pool.

When i try orient express i don't especially like the thai sativa pheno, they have a bitter / harsh taste and some get herma at the end of flowering. But the chinese pheno was so good, with a strange taste of warm oriental spice, very floral and sweet. This weed was one of my favorite when i smoke it with my vaporizer.

Then i try the fatty bubbha and rotten panda. I don't like the coffe taste of the bubbha, but the chinese gene softened the cross, but not enough to make me keep a clone. Rotten panda however is my favorite ace smoke ever.

I own the uk cheese clone, so i know pretty well how it taste. The first impressive thing is how stable these hybrid were, with very little variation in taste (same for the bubbha). In 6 rotten panda i get 5 very close pheno in taste, and one very cheese dominant, but she still get some of this special taste.

The chinese gene remove the candy/sugar taste, but add this oriental spice taste that increase the rotten/cheese/pestilant of the uk. Unfortunatly i get one nice keeper, but i couldn't keep the clone. Just got again some rotten panda seeds and i will run them to keep a nice keeper, that will probably replace my uk clone :)

I was wondering, how could you compare the taste of these kali china compare to the rotten panda ?

A friend pass me the chem sister clone, and i plan to make a cross with my selected RP (not so classical skunk x chem cross :peacock:). But i was thinking that kali china could be also pretty nice.

edit add - The cuts I took and stuck in a glass of water didn't make it. Oh well, I've got more seeds.

Kali China fem bud. Flipped to flowering on 08/01, she showed early flowers about a week later so she's 3-4 weeks flowering. Very complex smells, smooth sweet, incense, spices...

Dubi, why did you breed her with Kali and not one of your worked pure Sativas ?

Hi ChaosCatalunya,

Not in the case of Kali China breeding. I think i explained in detail how i developed Kali China here somewhere, but i cannot find the post now.

Summing up, i started working with our China Yunnan line around 2002 and at the same time i also did a very nice selection of different females from Old Kali Mist stock so it was very natural for me to cross a concrete Kali Mist incensey female with short height and desirable sativa effects with the different China Yunnan parental plants i was working with at that time. Kali Mist was not a stable line so the Kali Mist x China Yunnan hybrid produced many different phenotypes.

I tried both types of breeding ways: the regular by pollinating Kali Mist with a more sativa influenced China Yunnan male, and also through feminized reproduction too: by pollinating the same Kali Mist female with our strongest purple hashplant China Yunnan female (reversed). The fem line produced a better outcome than the regular, so i decided to continue the Kali China breeding through feminized breeding.

The first Kali Mist x China Yunnan outcross produced many different phenos, but i managed to find a female that had all the desirable traits i was looking for from both lines in a single plant: it had the short, compact, columnar China Yunnan hashplant structure and short flowering time, with the complex incensey Kali Mist terpenes that i love so much, blended with the best incensey and creamy terpenes from the chinese too. It also had the desirable sativa/indica effect i was looking for so i decided to backcross this special Kali China female from the original outcross back to the purple China Yunnan female, i chose the backcross way because Kali Mist was unstable and the F2 route would make the breeding much more complicated and variable and my goal was to fix all these desirable traits in a seed line. And i think it was the right decision.

After the backcross i inbred twice the Kali China backcross 2 generations more using many different parental plants, especially in the F3 and F4 generations until produce this final Kali China stabilized version/release, which i believe is the best version of the strain we have ever released. I finally fixed all the traits i was looking for in Kali China line as recent reports of the strain demonstrate, so right now i'm more interested to produce and explore interesting Kali China hybrids after all the hard breeding work done with the strain. Indeed, we have recently produced many different crosses between pure sativa landraces and latest Kali China generations.

Hope it helps, let me know if you have any doubt :)

The smells are already anticipating a good and classic Kali China expression from the most recent generation/release of the strain

Hi jonhova,

Thanks also for sharing your Kali China too :)
She looks healthy, with a beautiful compact hashplant structure,
looks like she will be ready for the flowering stage soon!

Hi xinox :)

I'm glad you had the chance to try our very limited editions of Rotten Panda (UK Cheese x Orient Express indica pheno) and Fatty Bubba (Bubba Kush x Orient Express indica pheno).

I really apreciate your first hand experience and your comments about our genetics.

If you have enjoyed the China Yunnan indica side of Rotten Panda and Fatty Bubba, then you will love Kali China, as she is the very refined and most highly worked and stabilized China Yunnan hashplant indica expression we have ever breed or release. In Kali China you will find all these creamy, sweet, spicy aromas (plus incensey) that you liked from our chinese line, but much better in every sense ;)

As you experienced, Rotten Panda was quite skunky (cheese dominant), around 80 % of the plants of this hybrid were very skunky while the other 20 % were more China Yunnan indica influenced (especially regarding terpene profiles). Rotten Panda was a really good hybrid, but i'm currently not very interested to breed with skunks, as skunk genetics are usually very dominant in hybrids and i usually prefer to let shine the rarer and different genetics we offer in our releases.

Indeed, i discarded the UK Cheese mother from our mother room 2 years ago after almost a decade with her. Original Cheese clone has without any doubt amazing terpenes and bag appeal, but i don't like her effects too much, that's the main reason why i decided to stop to work with the original Cheese clone. The Black Domina 98 elite clone selected in my city is an afghani/skunk hybrid and it's better than original Cheese clone, the terpene quality and bag appeal is equal or even better than original Cheese clone, but Black Domina 98 is better yielding, has stronger structure and branching, shorter flowering time and i enjoy her narcotic effect over Cheese effect, that's why the Black Domina 98 has replaced original Cheese clone in our mother room as the only parental plant that contains skunk in our genetic library.

Classic indeed! Every time I see you comment about growth or aroma I think, "Yep, that's it!"

She's got such a unique smell. I've never come across anything like this before. The Ace website description, "Mango juice, sweet cream, incense, hash, grill meat and oriental spices", I'm not sure what 'grill meat' or 'oriental spices' are but that might be the best description of what I'm smelling. I think of smells as a spectrum and this one seems strong, pungent, in the mid range, kind of meaty. Oriental spices? Like a Chinese restaurant or an Asian grocery? It's also a mid range smell and I think that fits the spicy smell. It's interesting, for sure. I can't wait to try her and I'm glad I've got 4 more seeds!

Hi Dubi, than you for your answer. :tiphat:

In my case i also get an elite clone of bubblegum (the slard). I find it too close of the uk, but with this incredible taste and stronger effect. That is why i will preffer to keep a nice rotten panda mom that will increase what i like in the cheese, and remove what i already have in the bubble (sugar / candy). I am sure you faced the same kind of dilema with the black domina

As for the effect, the cheese is not a strong hybrid. Medium power with euphoric / stoney effect. Rotten panda is pretty similar, maybe a little bit more potent. However to have medium potency weed is great, it's nice day smoking and you can smoke more

Also for the chem sister clone, this thing is quiet a beast, very vigourous !
I just yield 118g from one indoor plant... and i have to cut a big bud that get moisture. This is my actual record and it is in full organic (death to mineral ), i don't even yield that much when i grew mineral some years ago. She is not very resinous, but her bud are very dense and full of fat calyx. The effect is pretty high/warm sativa, and she taste mushroom/diesel, with some note of chocolate and mint. This thing is not especially great as it, but it is clearly a breeding monster, and i understand how they get the Original Glue by crossing her with some heavy sour diesel / bubble hybrid.

I think it would be possible to make some nice cross, to explore differant direction from what they already did. Crossing with kali china could be great, as the sister will add extra vigor, yield and dense bud structure, and the kali china will give the resin and nice terpene. Also the effect could stay pretty in the warm sativa side of thing.

From now i'm full of bodhi seeds, and then i have to make a selection with my 12 purple haze x malawi that i delay to grow too long

Interesting stuff xinox!Would love to read posts from you more often!:)

So guys, from what I've read it is preferrable to grow KC au naturelle or am I wrong?Low side branching seems like LST would not be the best bet ,having some zam and malawi in the tent at the same time for keeping canopy in control.

Syd,

Look at Jonhova's with the paper clip chain. That plant looks like it will respond well to training.

In the end I think it depends on what makes the best use of your particular lighting and what else you are growing. I know I didn't have room to spare with a crazed Panama Haze and a manic MalawixPanama hogging half the room. It was a blessing to have my Kali China be such an upstanding citizen.

+1 Claude

If you need to keep the canopy under control you do whatever you need to do. My KC has taken LST quite well and her side branches are filling in nicely, despite her limited space and light. She's in my small tent with 2 Tikals, who get LOTS of LST, and a single Satori, who's surprisingly growing like a stick.

First pic is my full tent 08/31, KC is back left.
Second pic is KC tops 08/27.

Lovely Samuel ;)

Your Kali China looks almost identical to the Kali China parental plants we use to produce this strain :)

My KC this year. Isn't as fast in flowering as last year but thats probably due to the weather (a lot of rain and low temperatures). Lets hope for the best! First buds with mold have already been removed...keeping my fingers crossed there won't be more!

Yah syd I have 3 kc outdoors and 1 has been that way since the 3rd node thinking a recessive China trait gots lotta purple on it too but might be due the cold front we've had for past 3 wks high of 65 days now were 93 fricking Michigan
