Just another micro tent :)

Thanks for the compliment Snook, and also the shades recommendation...I should probably get some of those in the near future. The cardboard is probably unnecessary but precautionary as my tent is up against the wall in this wide open bedroom I have and this particular tent has two flaps at the bottom that could allow light in. I was trying to use them but how with how everything is set up they made no difference. I have the timer set for lights on 10am-10pm and since I usually stay up later than 10pm and keep lights on I figure better safe than sorry. Rather than taping them closed and potentially damaging the tent later on if and when I might utilize them, I just put cardboard. I don't care for the ghetto-ness of it myself but it does its job. Here's a pic for reference of what I mean sans cardboard.
View Image

I have a similar tent, it has 3 of those flaps. i'm thinking that those flaps are to let fresh air in, no? I use 2 opened and 1 closed... if you close them where is fresh air coming in? I appreciate the light vs bloom/hermi situation but gotta have enough air coming in.. I have the tent up against a wall too but bought black felt at walmart and stapled it to the facing wall, to prevent reflected light... you could also build a small 'enclosure' around those flaps (outside the tent) to let air in indirectly (light trap) and keep light out..:tiphat:. even a cardboard box duck taped around the intakes.

EDIT: although they look pretty happy right now!

Yeah, I have an intake fan, an exhaust fan, and another fan moving air...they are just higher up in the tent lol. The flaps I covered are near the bottom and they proved unnecessary for my set up...but thanks :)

Edit: Forgot I also threw that little blue fan in to move air underneath as well, so four fans total. Stays around 80f, and humidity from 45-55, of course it goes up a bit after watering though. Nevertheless airflow is covered.

Took more pictures today, selected a few for a small update. I also made a new small veg box (cause holy balls 3 months+ is a long time to wait in a new big ass city without a connect) over the course of this week, with some reservations although I think it came out rather well...which I will elaborate on once I have seedlings up. I popped 2 Hazeman Strawberry Cough, 1 Nirvana Bubblelicious, and 2 Afghani Freebies, all regular seeds, from my recent Herbies purchase. They germinated from night before last til today, both afghani and 1 strawberry cough had popped tails, the other two were just cracked open. Damn that bubblelicious seed was tiny...anyway...pics :)

Cab is filling in nicely!

How far along in flower are the girls? How long are they going to go?

Looking forward to seeing your new veg setup and genetics.

Blynx - Not sure of how long they will go but I expect at least another four weeks. I flipped on 2/22, they showed 3/3-3/4, and today is 3/29 so only been flowering 3-4 weeks. As far as my veg box you might wanna hold that thought til I show it lol, I have a feeling someone will give me shit about it, seen enough threads on here haha.

Snook - Haha, no not a photographer but I will gladly take the compliment. Usually I take like 20+, pick out the best ones, transfer to pc, remove all metadata with a program named exiftoolgui, then upload to here...and I use my phone to take them.

Edit: Btw one of the Strawberry Cough is poking its way up through the dirt, so will probably be up by tomorrow...hopefully the rest will follow suit over next couple days :)

Also...on an unrelated note, fucking WrestleMania today!!!

Hello again, back again as promised with some pics of the ghetto veg box i made last week. All but the Bubblelicious are up but I doubted that one when I received it, which is okay to me cause the Afghanis make up for it. I'll start with the tent though. Actually have some bad news to report, as i might have to harvest early due to a potential security risk. Got a note on the door today saying there will be maintenance doing some repairs to the apartment buildings, thankfully mine is last on the list so might not be til next Monday-ish. The problem though is they say the electricity could be off for like 8 hours and idk what all the "repairs" will entail. I can move the whole tent into the closet and disguise it for the day. Out of curiosity, can anyone tell me if I would be okay just letting them sit in the dark for that day and around about 5-6, when they are done, resuming like normal? I was also thinking that maybe there's also the possibility of them finishing ahead of schedule and therefore coming ahead of schedule. Not worried about the new box as it is small and they are just seedlings. I've had to box some up and stow in the closet in a similar fashion for the day but in that situation they were still in veg and didnt phase them...never before have I had something like this come up during flowering.

Anyways... pics :)

Kinda weird cause some of the trichs are already cloudy and turning amber on a couple plants

The new box, made with a small cardboard box about 1' wide, 1' deep, and 1.5' or so tall.I cut a hole on the side and screwed in a pc fan using duct tape to hold it and a piece of fabric. On the top I traced a coffee can, cut the hole, inserted it about halfway, and taped it in place. The coffee can serves as the outtake somewhat like a smokestack, and i can also put the lid on if I need for whatever reason. What you see in the picture is a simple thin material black dress sock with a rubber band, so air can escape of course but no flying insects from outside can intrude. Was kinda convenient as my hps hood fit like a glove and helped hide the wiring completely out of the way, which i led through one of the box flaps at the bottom. For the light, I had a clamp light so I removed the clamp and put it in the hole where the hps bulb usually fits through then zip-tied it in place through the metal hole the clamp screws in. The front top and bottom flaps in the front of the box I cut in half and zip-tied in place to keep the doors closed, which works by way of two simple screws. Used a bunch of electrical tape. All in all, for what its worth, I think I made a decent box just using stuff I had...the air circulates well and its serving its purpose already.

SC #1, Afghan #1&2 have been up for a couple days and SC #2 finally came around yesterday evening/this morning. Think I will give the Bubblelicious another day then probably write that one off, which is fine as I wont mind that little bit of space in this size box.

Well that's about it for today, hopefully someone can give me a bit of advice on the dilemma.

I was going to say you probably won't get too much shit about a ghetto veg box, unless it's made from a cardboard box lol.

The flowering cab is looking great! Did you take any cuts?

Yeah I read alot of threads, hence my reservations for the reason of using a cardboard box mostly, but I really wanted to get a jump on the next round and save a month so I did my best to make it as safe as possible, adding the hood for backing and making sure there was more than enough circulation...I've actually had to water couple times a day bc the airflow is drying out the soil, the bulbs aren't really hot at all but then again it is only two bulbs. As for the flowering tent, thank you as always. I did actually take a few cuts just to experiment with cloning a bit before 12/12 but after about a week I decided to toss them even though they were still alive, at the time I wasn't planning on the extra box...now I kinda wish I would've kept them, or atleast one from the two I don't have more seeds of on the left of my tent...kinda disappointed cause I will likely harvest early bc I'm not sure if keeping in the dark for the maintenance dilemma will screw them up. Either way I would rather be safe to keep on keepin on in a non-legal state.

I would take some cuts from the flowering plants right now. Take them from the bottom of the plant. They will root just fine. It's probably really shaded and mostly branch with larf anyways. IMO, cuts from the bottom of a plant root quicker than cuts from higher up on the plant.

I took a cut off a plant that was 70 days into flower and it rooted. It takes longer than a non-flowering cut, but it should still root.

04.07-Part 1

04.07-Part 1

Hello all, been about a week now so time for an update I think.

First up, the veg box with the new babies...which, for being a cardboard box and all, is working out quite well for me.

After a week above soil they are growing right along, as you can see one more so than the other three
picture.php

Thought some might appreciate the info on these seeds best I can give, courtesy of $eedfinder (had to google for information on the freebie afghanis, found several results stating the same info...one of which included an alleged email response directly from Herbies)

Moving on to the flowering tent, last week I was very concerned about my upcoming "maintenance issue", which should be tomorrow, and out of that concern I had initially started hacking them down. Once I got one down however, I thought about it and my options in my current situation some more, did some googling, and decided I can just pull the plug and move it into my closet completely hidden for the day...so, I am with 5 ladies now. I do have to say that I really appreciated the unplanned meds though, even though I quick dried it, it has had me well medicated since last week. Smoked the last of it this morning and still good, makes me excited for when the rest finish even more. Anyways, here's a couple full tent shots:

04.07-Part 2

04.07-Part 2

Continuing from last post I thought I would show some current bud shots. I'll just start with A and go clockwise just like I took the pics.

A - Actually took a cut off of this one right after I finished taking pics, that I made into 3 smaller cuts about an inch to inch and 1/2 in size. (Wasn't sure but you convinced me blynx lol, thanks btw) I have really liked the structure, smell, resin production and vigor on this one since the get go...but I thought she was a male all along and then once she was in flower I figured, just based off everything I've read the last two years, that it might be more of a pain in the ass than it's worth. I would like to grow this plant again if I can help it though. Thought I would also mention that alot of the trichs are already mostly cloudy and I see alot of amber...thought it was too early for that?
picture.php

B - Nothing bad to say about this one but only time and a smoke will tell, looking good and coming along just as well. Very similar to G but I guess this one is the "Green" pheno
picture.php

G - As mentioned, similar to B and growing just as well also, I said B must be the "Green" pheno because it's all green while G here has alot of purple coloring to it, not in the buds, but along the main stalk, into the stems all the way to the leaves so I guess this one is the "Purple" pheno.
picture.php

F - Decent short bushy plant, similar to D that I took down (sorry completely spaced on taking pics of that one), but not as frosty...I assume the smoke will be similar once its done.
picture.php

T1 - Really came along in the frost department, even noticeable to me since a week ago, and getting fatter by the day it seems...but still has a while, trichs are crystal clear for sure

Start of Week 6

Start of Week 6

Hello all :tiphat: Just a few things to report on. The electric company did their thing, albeit a day later than I expected but power was out for less than 30 mins as far as I know, doesn't seem to have affected anything though having them in the closet the day I did. I had everything closed up and about 5 in the evening I pulled it out and gave them light til usual lights out at 10pm, though I was kinda worried it had stressed them because they were sweating as a result of humidity hitting 99% (temp stayed at 75 according to the meter). I did lose a small branch off of A checking them, just snapped right off...but I used it to make a couple more small cuts and a bowl to smoke. As I said though, things are still in order, except F showing me that I added a bit too much blood meal last week (i assume). My roommate couldn't resist asking to try out his plant (T1) so all the lower buds are gone and now its down to the main cola top bud cause its that amazing not even being quite ready yet, a high that lasts 3 hours. Personally speaking, it makes it hard to focus on anything cause it's really strong and kinda racy, but does make things more funny. Will say its been nice sampling while I wait for harvest. On to the pics :)

Veg Box-SC on left, Afg on right, 5 cuts of A shot glass in center (≈Start of Week 3)
Soil level had receded about an inch or so due to settling so added more yesterday, also moved Afg #2 to the different container simply because of personal preference. Thinking about putting these into the tent during the day so they can get more light since I have the space, still using this veg box in addition but not as much.

04.21-Part 1

04.21-Part 1

Hello all, hope everyone had a nice and safe 4/20. Back again with another update. Been a kinda busy weekend in the "garden", I gotta say I do have quite the growing fever...just love it. Anyway, lets get to it.

I will start with the tent, and would also like to make a correction from last week. I stated it was the start of week 6 but I just took a look at the calendar and it was actually the start of week 7 from showing sex and 8-9 from flip to 12/12. T1 was sacrificed in the name of 4/20 but I did save her (or hope I did anyway lol), as you will see. Looking pretty ready and all the trichs are cloudy, A is rather amber but has been for a bit now. I am open to suggestions as for when to harvest this time, was thinking maybe another week myself for G (back left) and F (front right), but A (front left) and B (back right) looks like they could go today...as these are random bagseed i have no idea on the time table for them, I just go off everything I have learned over the last couple years from here, etc. Decided to take all the plants out yesterday and clean my tent with some clorox wipes as well, I try to keep it that way the best I am able.
Start of Week 8 Flowering
picture.php

On to the "Veg Box"...Pretty packed house now, even made a slight addition, mostly because I was bored but also partial planning ahead. I am still uncertain what will go into the tent as far as how many I will flower next round because I do want bigger pots, but seeing as that might not happen because I have other priorities personally, I am keeping the option open to run 6 in the pots I have. I can put more but then plant space becomes an issue, as it has earlier this round.
picture.php

I germinated another seed of T which my roommate gave to me and two other seeds that are just more random bagseed from my stash on 4/18, only needed 2 and I took the first ones that did and labeled them T3 and J, the other was barely cracked but I just didn't need it. Thought I'd share my germination technique: One piece of tp folded twice, input seeds, spritz of water, another piece of tp folded twice, spritz with water, lid, put on top of led panel in tent where its 80-84. I use a container you find shredded beef jerky in at the gas station and this method has never failed the 5 or so times I have used it since simply trying something different than ziplock bags last year.
picture.php

Wanted to get some up close pics of what's goin on inside this veg box, so I will start with the new addition. Made a template, traced onto cardboard, cut it out, put it together with electrical tape, and "installed" (lol) with two screws. Silly and pretty clever at the same time I think. T3 on left, J on right
picture.php

The Afghanis, looking pretty good...one quite a bit behind the other in growth but similar nevertheless.

04.21-Part 2

04.21-Part 2

As stated in Part 1, I did try to save T1. Over the weekend I got her into a smaller container to fit into my box. Was hesitant but turned out like cutting cake, easy. I just hope she survives.
picture.php

Here's cuts of A, still trying to root. I decided to try to put one in soil the other day and threw one out this morning so 3 in water left. They do appear to have the tiniest of nubs like roots are slowly coming. The one in soil looks pretty rough, was more of an experiment as I try to learn more all the time, but we shall see if it makes it.
picture.php
picture.php

Last but not least, the two Strawberry Cough. They seem finicky unlike any seed I have ever planted, like maybe my soil is a bit too/not enough something...but they are still moving along and making progress daily. One of these are a bit slower in growth but they are similar. I do like the way they look.

Well that's a wrap for this update...til next time :)

Have you tryed using the Julian calendar to keep track of start and stop dates.
here is a link to a Julian calendar site.. there are better but can not find them right now.. sections 1.2 & 1.3.

https://docs.oracle.com/cd/E26228_01/doc.93/e21961/julian_date_conv.htm#WEAWX263

eg: start bloom April 20, april 20ths Julian date is 110 (January 1 is 001 and December 31 is 365).. 77 days later is (110 + 77 = day 187 is July 6th)
I use it within excel and with excel formulas (very simple ones) to track/foresee exact/approximate relevant dates like veg days, days for a certain clone to root, bloom days, etc..

documentation is necessary for more successful future escapades.

Snook - Thanks for the info, as they say, learn something new everyday. My question is how exactly do you use this and how does it pertain to what we do? I did some google-ing, so I get what it is, but didn't find any info that involves growing around it. Also how does using this differ from using a "regular" calendar or even the farmer's almanac? I get that tracking and documentation is helpful, as I loosely do (no spreadsheets, just a little pen and paper and/or these threads), but how is this not something else that simply adds to overcomplicating things? I hope I am asking the right questions, did just wake up haha

Jaytoker - That would be an iPower 300w :)
Still on Ebay, tho my roommate found it on Woot at the time, couple months ago...definately plan to get one for myself at some point, might go with the double panel 600w since its not much more, if still available. Bought a 150w hps from htgsupply when I started around August 2013, was gonna have to replace the bulb this round but roommate asked if I would wanna use it instead (no brainer to me lol) so its up in the closet til possibly needed later on. I can't imagine what my temps must have been with that thing, as I just got a thermometer/hygrometer this round and temps stay 80-84 with the led...not to mention my fiance and I sleep better during veg with led. I am a led convert now, anyway here's a link. Thanks for checkin out my thread btw.
