"On May 5 at around 9:30 a.m., several teams of Pima County, Ariz., police officers from at least four different police agencies armed with SWAT gear and an armored personnel carrier raided at least four homes as part of what at the time was described as an investigation into alleged marijuana trafficking. One of those homes belonged to 26-year-old Jose Guerena and his wife, Vanessa Guerena. The couple's 4-year-old son was also in the house at the time. Their 6-year-old son was at school.

As the SWAT team forced its way into his home, Guerena, a former Marine who served two tours of duty in Iraq, armed himself with his AR-15 rifle and told his wife and son to hide in a closet. As the officers entered, Guerena confronted them from the far end of a long, dark hallway. The police opened fire, releasing more than 70 rounds in about 7 seconds, at least 60 of which struck Guerena. He was pronounced dead a little over an hour later.

The Pima County Sheriff's Department initially claimed (PDF) Guerena fired his weapon at the SWAT team. They now acknowledge that not only did he not fire, the safety on his gun was still activated when he was killed. Guerena had no prior criminal record, and the police found nothing illegal in his home. After ushering out his wife and son, the police refused to allow paramedics to access Guerena for more than hour, leaving the young father to bleed to death, alone, in his own home."

60 rounds in one person.... First i dont know how you could count that what would be left of em? I know the dude had a gun in his hands and in a raid thatll get you messed up pretty good..... but 60 rounds?

I feel bad for the guy because I "THINK" he went for his ar-15 out of instinct and the cops where off track in the wrong damn house which got him rendered

We need to get some big fat guy that people will hear like Michael Moore to make a documentary about all these horrible things that happen to good people, ex marines even, was this a medical state? Weren't vets given some federal exemption recently or something.

This is a good example of how popular media fails us, you can call it liberal biased, it's really biased towards bullshit lnews about cast members of some reality show doing some bullshit...

I guess most people prefer bullshit to the truth

um, i think you missed the point where they found nothing illegal in the house. they followed bad info while investigating a smuggling ring. Dude was a marine, heard pounding on his door and went for his weapon.

isn't standard operating procedure to command the suspect to drop the weapon? not fire 70 rounds at him in 10 seconds... this makes me sick.

different states have different operating procedures and laws. The only thing required everywhere is them being loud as hell(upon entry) and yelling POLICE or something similar

Lawsuit

This is going to cost the police - US taxpayers - a lot of money

Clearly the Police fucked up

God Bless Jose Guerena and his family

The USA and the world needs to legalize and regulate the distribution of MJ - similar to alcohol ... and put an end to policing, locking the entire country/world up, and all related crimes

Fact is - The entire world smokes pot

No big deal.
Everything is OK, cause the scum cops were acting in "good faith", with a "legal" warrant.
I simply cannot understand how "Joe Citizen" tolerates this.
I hate them and their double speak and lies.
Imagine if stoners kicked in doors in the middle of the night, shot everybody dead, then said, Ooops, wrong house!:blowbubbles:

sad

The sickening part about this story is, how the police story changed as the events unfolded with lies.

Here's number 1.
initially saying he had fired on officers
And 2.
The department says SWAT members were clear when identifying themselves while entering the home.
And 3.
Lt. Michael O'Connor of the Pima County Sheriff's Department. "We went lights and sirens and we absolutely did not do a 'no-knock' warrant."
And 4.
"The suspect said, 'I've got something for you,' when he saw them," O'Connor said. Guerena's wife denied he said that.

It turns out, one of the SWAT officers tripped and accidentally fired his weapon, thus causing all the officers to unload 72 rounds in a panic. The Marines firearm was still on safety when they found him dead.

Folks the war against the US citizen's is very extreme, its time we quit being arm charm/internet tough guys (me included) and make a stand and fight for what we believe in...we need to take back our rights and bitching through our post will not get the job done.

He died like the soldier he was, defending his Home... so sad that he was probably killed by other ex military guys... from the same "Homeland".

So much has changed so fast in America that people are still in shock to react, but when they will the Civil War will be kid's stuff.

Too much anger is building up...
