ThaiBliss,
looking at your Banghis again, they seem fine to me except for the little folding upwards of their top leaves.
Is that what you take out on the pH? That feltilizing thing makes me wonder though. You see, I did overdo that a tad a few years ego, but the lab analysis read too much organic matter and a pH of 7.4! Nevertheless my ladies were nothing but proliferous and generous...

Happy gardening, too!

Orfeas

Hello,

The leaves do fold up a bit in the midday sun. I measured the PH and I was getting readings from 6.1 to 6.5. The color of the plants turned yellow and pale, the new leaves came out small, and the growth slowed to a snail's pace. They are rebounding, but still not vigorous and glowing like when they were happy.

I'll wait another week and test PH again. I just read the calcium carbonate package, and I should notice the PH rise in two weeks time. The lime is very finely ground, and then pelletized in molasses to prevent dust blowing into the air. I may have applied less than I should have due to the mixture with molasses. In the past, I used the white lime powder. This stuff is different than I have learned to use in the past.

It is still very early in the season. Still lots of time to get a head of steam on these plant before flowering.

Splendid morning with a bright sun, a spotless blue sky and crystal clear visibility, the distant islands (30 miles or so away) clearly in sight...

I thought that pH of 6,1-6,4 is jolly alright, isn't it?
Tell them that the flag is down on the grid and get them moving ahead for they might lose the advatage of polesitting:biggrin:
But then, as you said, it's still early in the season...

Thaibliss, are u sure about the K level in your soil?
K has much to do with water retention and it seems they have a problem with evaporation in full sun.
Maybe PK level is towards 1:1, should be 1:2, imho:tiphat:

Greetings,

My understanding is that a PH of 6.5 to 6.8 is ideal. I vaguely remember that Bangi Haze was a bit sensitive to PH, but I don't remember which side of ideal it preferred. I'll have to go and look for those posts.

I added greensand to the compost piles when I first started them, but it has been a few years. I think it takes a long time to breakdown, so I don't think it would hurt to add some more. Thanks for the thought.

Wheee!!!
We're taking off!
I think I have spotted the first pre-flowers on the broad leafed beauty and the "red pheno" one. Not visible yet to the naked eye but x3 reveals them clearly. I will shoot some more when long enough to see.
The big lady is 2 ft already and the "red" one is foot and a half.
Is it a good height or should they be taller?

Congratulations, it's a girl! Looking real good. I think 2 feet tall is a good start for this time of year. They are going to be huge. Are those the Zamaldelicas, or Bangi Hazes?

Last night I found two of my seven plants showing female. I have four pots, and two have a female in them so far.

Congratulations to you, too, ThaiBliss!

Jamaldelicas reg are in the photos. They don't show the third one you liked the best. You said it was Thai leaning but it hasn't shown sex yet. Either way it'll have to be removed for the space is too restricted for three plants. Even two will give me a hell of a time to attend them. I reckon I'll have to train them carefully...

As for the height, last summer my Kali Mist was at ~50 cm at the end of May and she went over 2,5 m. Certainly huge are they going to be, like you said. Just wish me luck for the long long summer+autumn.

Wish you further luck with the rest of your seedlings!

the first one is praying. is it sun or orfeas?
the second will soon reach the safe outer walls of 'orfeas-castle', and im pretty sure she wont behave like a kali when she gained a certain bio mass around the solstice.
rootbound is ~400% stretch with mine.

3x3x3,5 I guess:biggrin:;)

Praying to both, I take, since Orfeas and Apollon were very closely related:biggrin:

As for the second lady, you're very likely to be right! She is no Kali by any means!
However, I might be able to handle width and length, but the height?
Mann oh Mann! She'll be too conspicuous since the surrounding vegetation is no more than 3 m. But then there's always a way out, isn't there?

Boy oh boy, this frenzied Jamaldelica is going to get me in some serious trouble!
80 cm tall already, 40 cm lower branches and 20 cm long blades.
What the heck is that? Needless to say she's already pushing the shorter girl, which had me dig extension room to move her in so that they have a distance of a metre.

Dubi, tell me please, how do I say "slow down!" in cannabish?
Or do I have to play the little Lilliput man trying to keep Gulliver down?

Oh, how I wish I had Bushweed's premises to let the reins loose on this beauty...

Tjo, thanks buddy for your kind words! I can only hope to have the same luck you had with your Malawi.

Orfeas,

Your ship is tight!

I was too casual, and paid the price.

ThaiBliss,
thanks for your compliments!
As for the tight ship, having sailed the oceans for more than five yrs, I have learned that running a tight ship[is "no pun intended" correct?] is the safest way to get to harbour:biggrin:

What's happened to that Nepjam? Didn't it like its new home or something?
The Banghi? Oh, envious, envious I am!

Ruedy, no Kraken in my neck of woods, buddy! But, mind you, Cyclops will I have to deal with towards the end of the Ithaka voyage. One of the most notorious one is called Botrytis:laughing:

Dannycarrey, thanks for stopping by and encouragement!

Koondense, thanks mate! I have already enrolled for some circus lessons!
