I've never found a single vitamin or supplement that noticably changed my health

From b12 to fish oil, from creatine to vitamin C, I've never taken a vitamin or supplement that has caused a noticeable change in my mood, awareness, capacities, or overall health. I'm including various injections and expensive new age sprays as well.

That is, of course, not to say that these substances don't work. Only a fool would dispute, for example, the plethora of science backing the effectiveness of fish oil.

I think it would be fun if you guys could share personal experiences with vitamins that you could palpably feel the difference while taking.

FWIW, this is one of the reasons I can't go along for the ride on the anti-pharma crusade. There are lots of pharma pills that make my life better in the short-term, a few in the long term, and one literally keeps mom alive. They usually work.

Eat all the prescription drugs you want. I dont think anybody is claiming they dont have benefits. Most people just dont like the side effects or addictions that come with them.

My father started taking biotin for his hair.

After about two months, his hair started to grow back, the grey started becoming blonde again. But, once you start Biotin, you cannot stop or the hair will fall out (again).

Most Vitamins are preventatives, they wont stop you from getting sick or having a heart attack.

For me, the thought that taking Vitamin C daily is just psychological, I use it to help make myself believe that if I take it I will have a less of a chance of getting sick (though I know it is probably doing nothing), but the idea is there, relieving myself of the stress thinking I am going to get sick.

But, all in all, I might get sick once a year, if that?

Anti-Pharma farmer here lol..

Same as Dutch Boy i get sick maybe once a year and when i do (just recently actually) its only when the Mrs brings home fucking germs from her work.

I don't take anything else (experimented in the past with alot of different vitamins.. multi's, vitamin c, other ones i forget..). My thoughts are living healthy = drink lots of clean water exercise try to eat only organic foods avoid all the bad stuff.. thats in a perfect world i probably only live like this around 70% of the time the other 30% varies widely.

While we're on this health subject alot of people don't know how good professionally administered colonics are for you. I recently had a course of 6 over a 3 week period to flush my colon out and i can tell you wow its the best $600 i ever spent on my health hands down. The colon is where undigested food sits and over time rots in your stomach and can lead to all kinds of disease particularly cancer. If you want to be healthy on the inside i would SERIOUSLY RECOMMEND you do your research on the subject. It might save your life no joke!!

Wow that sounded like an informercial..

I once took something back when I was young ( 18 ) . centrum or something. and it gave me dreams everyday I took it.. and I normally didn't have dreams back then..

also one time someone's mom was into "herbal" supplements, and she gave us these pills ( was about 16 or 17 ) , and hour later me and my friend were in a super good mood and being all cheery for a while.. and no it was drugs or pot, she doesn't do that stuff.. wish I knew what it was so I could recall for this conversation

my dad eats vitamin C ( ascorbic acid ) and thinks he don't catch a cold as easily... I think bullshit as he's always sick whenever he's mentioning his help pill

that's all I got..

just started taking this stuff called Cell Food and Essential Silica from Lumina Health Products , its a liquid supplement to add to clean water or juice. I noticed its effectiveness the first day and continue to notice benefits from it. Definitely recommended !! Been taking supplements for years now and I understand your concern that normal vitamins and supplements don't seem to do anything. But im sold on these , my hair, skin , teeth and gums are healthier already too. I've only been taking these for like 2 weeks , check it out.

Most supplements aren't supposed to act like drugs. It's pretty hard to know if your arteries or liver are in better shape than they would be if you hadn't taken a certain supplement, but that doesn't mean they aren't having beneficial effects.

Anyone else curious about what the Mrs does for a living ;)

glucosamine seems popular. Supplements seems to mostly provide a very fine increase in whatever you are supplementing for. I'm not tuned into myself enough to notice a difference with most of them... except creatine.

Vitamins are like light.
When you are in the dark, and turn on a light, it is noticeable.
But if you are outside in the sunlight, you turn on a flash light, you won't notice it.

It sounds like you are just looking for a quick fix pill, not gonna happen.
You also have to take responsibility for yourself by eating right, get plenty of rest/exercise, drink plenty of water and stop doing things you shouldn't be doing, whatever that may be.

Most fish oils won't work in the body.
More likely they ferment.
Look for a fractionally distilled fish oil and double the daily dosage.
Burn thru the whole bottle before making a decision about weather it works or not.
Another suggestion would be to eat a whole avocado every day for a week and see if you notice any difference.
Some things work some do not.
People are all different and pills are not one size fits all.
Some will be the key needed to unlock the door.
Regrettably the consumer does not take in therapeutic doses or its not the right complement to get the desired effect.

Try organic vitamins, they work.

They are made from shrooms I know and have better nutrients than even one-a-day.

I rarely get sick, like colds or flu. I don't take vitamins or supplements. I eat food I drop on the floor. I do eat a well balanced diet, lots of lean meat, fresh veggies and fruit. I avoid people that are obviously sick.

I've got the constitution of a horse though.
