Thanks for the input guys.
I actually have been thinking about doing coco now that everywhere has been mentioning it. One concern is how to get rid of the waste water. seems likes a PITA. and Id probably have to order the coco online. any suggestions?
my titan controller/regulator, net pots, and new MH bulb came in. that was about $550. wont be able to get a tank for 2 more weeks. was thinking about popping my seeds in the rockwool cubes I got already. I have a small ebb and flow setup that would do for a few weeks till I built the "setup". thinking about doing 3 20 gallon tubs RDWC with a 30 gallon control rez for a total of about 60-70 gallons. ill post pictures as soon as I get my tank and have everything hanged and tied.
I also have a major concern. I tested out my MH bulb and I couldn't get it to work. I enventually did get it to fire one time. I turned it off and waited about a hour. went to turn it on again and nothing. this is the second bulb that wouldn't work. Im starting to think it might be my hood. it hasn't ever been used but ive had it for about a year. its a sunsystem hood. should have a picture of it on page 3. anyone have that hood? im worried its going to mess up my light cycle. im thinking about ill have to do is keep it on 24/7 after I get it fired.
What program did you use at the start of the thread for the grow room dimensions? I've been doing it on paper with a pencil and ruler
I never had slime but my system went from incredible to constant root problems after a few grows. If you want to automate and maximize over the long haul try some type (rock wool, coco, clay pellets, pro-mix, etc) of top feed drain to waste (DTW). Look what the pro's do(weed or otherwise) and basically none do rdwc and very few do any kind of recirculating in general. It's just to risky.dont do rdwc! thats a setup asking for failure. all bubble buckets kick ass the first round or two and then go down hill fast from there. you cant clean the slime out of the buckets and pipes.
for a first timer.. I would say.. SOIL is your best friend.. to be honest.. its way more forgiving.. then coco or hydro.... just an idea.
after reading some of this thread,
I agree wit JO---->go with soil.
I'm reading A LOT of...
how do I....
never done it, ...
I have no idea how... In this thread
the one that really gets my attention is...
I need to wait a few weeks to get a paid so I can get..[i/]
if your on a tite budget, on your 1st grow room you need your 1st gro needs to end with a good harvest
and a financially successful one
JO hits the nail on the head when he says go SOIL for the 1st time.
things can go south in a matter of days with rdwc or coco
and soil is soooooooo very forgiving.
get soil down pat 1st
then onto bigger and better things
good luck noobs
Doesn't matter what you start with, if you take the time to learn what you're doing first.Soil is your best friend in the beginning. Once a few successful crops have been harvested in soil, then maybe try hydro....
well, your assuming everyone is on your level of what you as an individual can accomplish which frankly isn't much.Doesn't matter what you start with, if you take the time to learn what you're doing first.
Never needed to ask a single question on my first hydro. I took the time to know what was needed first and worked accordingly. Just like anyone in ANY regular field of endeavor would do.
