One summer I let my lease run out, quit my job I hated and spent it surfing on couches, traveling around, and living out of my car. I'm sure my situation was different from yours as it was a voluntary thing but I did it with NO savings and made my way by selling a little bit of weed, a little bit of moonshine, and working odd jobs off of craigslist. It was the best decision and thing I could have done at the time, I look back very fondly on those 6 months.

I remember back in the 80's having just $20 to my name, and arriving in Hong Kong without knowing anyone there. Within a week I was flying all over SEAsia with gold, hash, Chinese medicines, Rolex watches and all sorts of stuff I had been given to take from one place to another, and within a coupla months I was seriously on the up and up...
Remember that when you are right down, the only way is up, and necessity is the mother of invention....Just keep a positive mental attitude and keep meeting new people, then you should be ok...

It's a shame you're thinking of leaving the area. I was thinking about transferring to my company's office in San Diego next year. I'd keep the same salary, and rental prices are a hell of a lot cheaper there than San Jose.

His entire universe is about to explode. He cant grow out of his car. He cant take a shower or shit in his car. No refrigerator. No bed.
He is better off living in a tent somewhere, hopefully Not in Seattle where the drug and murder rate is astronomical.

It's a shitty situation for anyone. I haven't met stoned trout personally, but he seems like a resiliant kind of guy. It's possible to get back on your feet in a shitty situation like this.
Gym memberships are as cheap as $9 a month. Sometimes with a free trial period. That's a cheap bathroom / shower arrangement. The sleeping situation is awful, but some people can sleep in their car while there're figuring out a plan. My best friend had to live out of his truck for a few months when he was going through hard times. He made it through that and got back on his feet.

I was down to pocket change a few times early in life.
Been kicked out of a nice place once due to weather destruction, along with my wife and kid. Almost lost another place to a forest fire; had to clean up after.
Hard times, but ya just gotta pick up and move on to the next deal.
