I attended Bob Fest this past year in San Diego and saw some amazing acts.
Tribal Seeds was great.
Barrington was great.
Capelton did some AMAZING! acapellas (sp?)
Sly and Robbie were super dubbin.

I'm not sure exactly what happened to Midnite. He kind of stood on stage and didn't do too much. He just put a bunch of re-verb on his mic and let his band play away. My guess: SUPER BAKED.

My favorite by far though was Don Carlos. If anyone here has the chance to go see him I highly suggest doing so. His music is beautiful and he has great stage presence.

thanks to cabbage in the chat i started listening to a lot of capleton, dennis brown, and iwayne. lava ground and prophet rides again are two of the most soothing songs. really enjoyed the capleton version. :respect:

What a thread....not too early
i'm just found of Reggae (jamaican generally) music...got hundreds of Cd's , Lp's , 7" or 12"...me love everithing ( i must admit i don't include post-80's dancehall here) from ska , rocksteady , early reggae , one drop , rockers , rub a dub and even digital revolution (when it comes to party)...
here there's a lot of artists live : i loved so much the Abyssinians everytime ...johnny clarcke and max romeo where super nice too , as where Gregory Isaacs and black uhuru , as ken boothe ...the congos and israel vibrations where killer each time (i saw both 2 times)...was a bit desapointed with the gladiators and with lee perry....cornell cambpell was superb...big youth and dillinger made the show....and much more...

to me best singers are for sure Bob , Dennis Brown and Mr Isaacs...but plenty of others wicked ones including deejays and dub poets : johnny clarke , junior murvin , prince far i , barrington levy and ini kamozes for the 80s , i also love the olskool deejay scotty , keith hudson , Linton kwesi johnson , hugh mundell......and so much more

lotsa respect for producers and engineers , those who build this music , first and formost King Tubby , but also scratch , bullwackies , hookims bro's , sly and robbie , niney , clement dodd , jammy , bunny lee...all the forgotten ones

reggae is one of the most interesting parts of life imo

As for tunes....a few little advices as i'm listenin good music right now
Start with "roller skates" by steel pulse , it will put you in the right mood
then put on "groovy situation" by keith rowe...u will not regret (unless u got no gal atm)
then a little "let my days be long" by the abyssinians will do the trick (u can replace it by the gratest love ;)
then "rock on" by Gregory issacs...lovers mood , even more if u listen to the 12" with the unchained version feat christine
then put on "since i throw the comb away" from the twinkle bro...another lover mood
then why not "burn babylon" by sylford walker to put you in a revolutionary mood (see the lirycs in my sig)
another revolutionary sound must follow : "all we doin is defendin" by LKJ is perfect (begins like that : "War , War , me seh listen , opressin man...)
then "tribute to bob marley" bi prince far I will help to chill out
to finnish u can listen "smoking" from keith hudson and why not "one splif a day" by billy boyo ...
thats all for today ...hope u 'll match to find them all ...

Hey,
Been waiting for a reggae thread, I'm all about the reggae.
I mainly listen to roots, deejay, and dub reggae.
Lee Perry, Linval Thompson, Augustus Pablo, Johnny Clarke, Prince Far I, Big Youth, Gladiators, Scientist, Mad Professor. Ranking Dread. That kind of stuff. I like my reggae roots-y, raw, and heavy. I like some newer stuff but sadly most of it is not coming from jamaica. Future Pigeon is pretty good
Peace
