Man i wish i had saved some seeds from the limey green mexican brickweed we used to get here. Some batches had silver seeds. Silver

I mean you can grow them if you really want to, you do you bud... But if you want true quality I only would settle for true elite genetics. This quality is what you can get if you know what you're doing.

Not sure if a bagseed grower would fully appreciate the quality though. You have to be exposed to quality to be able to judge it imho.

I'm kinda in the same situation with some "old seed" of mine with the ACTUAL SKUNK that everyone is wanting back.....

I have it....but the seeds are from 2014 and not a single one has popped for me....yet...... I am down to 23 out of 75 seeds that I was gifted early 2014. The house raised so much "smell attention" by a 500ft radius, that well in short....caused me to have to STOP growing for 4 years..... I've been slowly trying them one at a time for the last 3 years with hopes that I can get one to pop. But I left them room temp in a dark semi-airtight sealed jar before I knew that it is absolutely VITAL to store your seeds in a freezer for maximum shelf-life.

Things aren't looking good on my end. 😢

Fingers crossed for the both of us tho.
Try using 50% 3% straight hydrogen peroxide and water in a Gauze Sponge in the open air.

Let water soak it good for 2 days. The Sponge should slide like an egg for 2 days. Then drain it off and put the glass bowl or plastic bowl on top of a good heat source. They will pop.

2nd contact a embryo recovery service if what I said doest work on 1 seed.

I reuse Gauze Sponges over and over.

I never see mold using my technique.

Some of the best i've smoked was from bagseed.

Exciting to think you may end up with something very unique and desirable.

Which imo is quite likely from bagseed although variability is obviously much wider.

The only reason you are growing that is dudes like us popping bag seeds, ya dig?

Here are the results of my old bag seed germination experiment:

Seeds
40 year old cannabis seeds with unknown genetics. From mid-west USA (college town) .
Stored in 35 ml film canister in desk drawer. Given to me by friend to see if they would germinate.

Methods

Scarification with rolled tube of 220 grit sandpaper for approximately 1-2 minutes.
Presoak
500 ml of distilled water with 10 ml 3% H202
2 ml food grade molasses
1 ml Superthrive (1ml)
50 ml coconut water
5 ml of polysaccharide solution

Bubbler
1 qt jar with aquarium bubbler on low setting with sealed cap.
Seeds soaked in bubbler at 75 F (heat mat ) x 20 hours

Germination media
Sterilized coco coir moistened with distilled water (microwaved for 3 minutes) placed in clean test tube approximately 1/3 full . Seed added to test tube and covered with small layer of coco coir

100 Test tubes in upright postion in germation chamber with lids loosely attached ( covered insulated foam box with heat mat )
Placed in darkened room and left undisturbed expect to add small amount of water after 10 days
Temp range 75- 88 degrees F

Results
After 3 weeks there was no evidence of any seed germination with 100 seeds . Approximately 20- 30 % of tubes had mold infestation.
Germination attempt was terminated with 0 percentage success rate.

Conclusion
Seeds were most likely non-viable for many years before my attempt at germination. Not sure if appropriate storage would have made difference. Perhaps a better lab set-up instead of my spare bedroom would have helped the success rate, but this is doubtful.

Future seed germination on my part will be with known genetics, appropriate storage and seeds less than 2 years old.

Thanks for the encouragement and suggestions

Moving on to this years grow with seeds that meet the above requirements (actually did that last night)
