Is flushing bullshit?

R

i came up wiht an anecdotal test to see how much tar and crap was in my smoke

i used a bamboo as a filter and rolled it into a king sized raw

smoked it to the end and looked at the tar on the paper

very nice plants RNDZ........however,

i came up wiht an anecdotal test to see how much tar and crap was in my smoke

there's only one thing that keeps the tar away from your lungs: vaporize, don't smoke..........if you burn it, you'll have tar, no matter how well flushed your plants are.......peace...........

My favorite buds are flushed until they have almost 0 chlorophyll left. They usually turn either really bright green, gold, or purple. Along with the occasional reds, blues and blacks.

Flushing outdoors can prove to be quite a challenge when actually planted in the ground.

flushing outdoors is different, I only use compost teas to water my outdoor plants, not much of a need to fush with those. But I still cut everything off at 3 weeks and just water more oftern

Flushing outdoor plants?Flushing is for hydroponic growers and people that use cheap chemical ferts.I use fox farm tiger bloom right until harvest. You do want to drop the calmag a couple weeks before harvest though as magnesium can be a culprit

outdoor flushing

if you have excellant drainage ,like elevated beds above old gravel parking lot , works great!!!

plenty of urban decay but with the influx of asian immigrants the revival is underway !!

I'm no expert on this subject but ....

Received a sample of a few buds from a Canadian friend growing in heavily amended soil. It was almost like the nutes in the ground were not used up at harvest time, because it tasted like shit and we could not even finish a joint. Maybe it tasted like shit for a completely different reason though I don't know.

Could have been genetic. I grew out a Mexican bagseed from some bud we bought on a cruise...anyway, it looked great, but the plant had this smell...a fucked up smell that I didn't like, it had it all through the grow. Now it hads a fucked up taste...I won't smoke it. Besides, it's not that great a high either.

Ever get that nasty tickle in the Nose? kinda makes you want to sneeze and that funny taste?

On the first hit of the bowl or last is when you taste those eye irritating make you wanna sneeze chemicals, I taste it in peoples organic soil and hydro setup.

That's Chemies in your herb if you do not flush proper.

Bongjangles has it right

i like to force the plant to feed off of itself, I do this by cutting food

your plants should look like they have undergone seasonal change

the soil microbes stop activity at the end of the grow season in many locations so many plants are forced to feed of their own stores naturally
Potassium will kill off microbes, reducing the available N. It is not easily burned and remains in the ash. What does burn is hot and nasty. It is very water soluble and is significantly reduced with a couple days flushing.

I don't understand the correlation

As I see there are two parts to this process. One is reducing the amount of nutrients that a plant has for uptake at the end of its life cycle and then timing the rest of maturation so the plant uses most of its leaf stores by the time you harvest

regardless of how you stop the root zone taking in nutrients, it is in my experience that the less robust the leaf stores are when you cut are going to directly relate to teh properties of the smoke

there are many facets to growing a proper smoke, one is proper nutrient available during growing, the other is keeping plant health tops for proper resin production but cutting that and timing it so it cannibalize its own stores before you harvest.

Accelerating the conversion of chlorophyll stores alone is an important result of the process

Getting rid of the green vegetative growth means cutting back on nitrogen. Nitrogen is the nute we want used up. P&K are supplied to the very end to promote flowering and flushed out at the end because they make harsh smoke.

Your suggesting to overfeeding and flushing out the over dose of nutrients at the end of its life cycle is in my experience the failure to create and apply a proper feeding regiment

now if your feeding it synthetics especially in a hydro system, there really is no excuse for over feeding and the only reason you would do so is to guarantee biomass regardless of potential effect on overall quality, which if one understood the tenants of overfeeding, is counterproductive regardless

Just feeding them what they need when they need it. Potential effect on overall quality is positive. If you are not overfeeding them a 2 or 3 day flush is sufficient.
