Yo DrBud, been following your threads but haven't posted in a good while.
Quick question, what are your thoughts on 20 oz bottles cut down as you do vs. 2 litre bottles. In terms of root space/issues of rootboundness? In terms of plant height and in general "bigness"? In terms of containers per area? Hope that makes sense. Im using 2 litres cut down a little bit now, I know you use the others, looking at a 20oz bottle now, just seems real small, but the upside is obviously more containers per area. thanks!

I started out with 2 liters and I can tell you I've grown just as big a plant in a 16oz party cup as I did in the 2 liter bottle and I have 2 Purple Wreck cuts right now that I have in 20oz bottles growing in Ready Grow Coco Peat mix and they are huge!! I flowered them at 4" and at 3 weeks they are 15" with thick stalks so I think it comes down to your medium and nutes along with the deeper container I doubt wider containers are going to help you anymore if anything you just get less plants so I hope I helped

Hey Doc i wanna let you know how much i appreciate you showing everyone how proper CFL growing should be done i currently use 8 32 watt cfls along with 8 4 ft t5's and i have been pulling fairly large quantities ( average 10-12g per plant) for years now and i still catch $hit from die hard HID users
I have been using cut off 2 liter bottles as well because i thought the more space for roots equal more buds but you seem to be getting similar results with 20 oz. ?? i will definately be testing this on my grow for the new year

I have driven myself crazy the past couple months trying to develop in my mind the most complicated method to grow herb...Simple really is better, and knowledge is the key to yield and efficiency as you are proving before my eyes.
I have the attention span of a gnat, but I've browsed this thread from the first page and sucked it all in, and the knot in my stomach has vanished...I have my answers, and you just earned yourself a new student!
Small plants, packed 16 to a SQFT and dialed in to their sweet spot equals astounding yields. I'll modify some, use HPS air cooled lighting and a bigger space but your principals are my new method.

Hello Dr.Bud! I too am working on getting a cab that looks like yours. Right now I just started the final flush on six girls that look splendid thanks to your method. The only problem is that they had a less than optimal start and are about 9in. tall and are about half stem. I didn't have enough light at the beginning so they stretched a bit too much. Any recommendations on what to do with them after I harvest? Is the large stem there to stay? I also have another six going right now that look to be right on track.
