Ok. Nearly dug out! Doing it in style and am enlarging it further by going sideways.....

Easier sideways than vertical. A quick rom calc shows ive moved more than 3 cubic yards already with more to go.... will final tally this for certain

Hey Mckush, you wanna have intake down low on end of FR than your exhaust up top at other end of room so it pulls cool air under and over your plants blowin out the hot air above plants that's how I set up works awesome, passive intake ,eight in. exhaust fan on speed controller or smaller if your only runnin one bulb. your room should be easy to cool are you gonna go vertical bare bulb ? crank some neil up check the acoustics in the FR  Bud

Hey Buddler, yeah DSW has built a few rooms. I'm simplifying my layout down to just two rooms and eliminated the divider between the veg room and the flower room. I can put the veg in a closet or use a tent partition or similar if I want. Now, however I will have a large room when I want it. The size will be about 5x9 instead of a 5x6 and a 3x5. My main area is the 5x6 flower area with 10'6" (or so) ceiling and then attached to that is the 3x5 area which kind of cantilevers to the FR. I excavated out underneath the VR so I plan to store water and supplies under the VR which now adjoins the FR. Make sense?

Picture would be better...

I'm still trying to figure out how big of an intake to use and how big of an exhaust. The approach will be to use my outer studio area as a lung room.

Here is my contribution to the DIY crowd and pros alike. Check out that last pic of the gas can and pump. That is where I am comparing my sump container (polyethylene gas can) to the pump in order to correctly size them. Ive used a plastic 5 gallon gas can for more than 15 years "outside" and it still serves me well folks. Avoid using the cheap homestore type plastic buckets which may fail over the years. Plastiv gas can are super tough necessarily by design. There you go.

That can will be sunk and a 2 " drain line attached. The sump lifts up thru a check valve, union, then gravity drain to yard. Sweet. That can and drain will never never never ever leak. Bank it folks.

Have made alot of progress and photos will be up soon. Excavation turned into a right chore. I'm going to measure today and see but I think I've moved 4 cubic yards of dirt - twice. Out of the pit and up to a staging area and then from the staging area to the wheelbarrow or out the door. I had to stop even wheelbarrowing it out and down my back yard as that took too much time. I'm total woodchuck mode now with a mound out on my decking but what the f*k. I got it done. Had to say "screw the neighbors" and dig and dump during daylight. I couldn't make the progress I needed so I gave up on super stealth mode. I have a good cover story already in my hip pocket. So if HOA sniffs around I'm set and don't have to fumble for a reason as to what is going on. Ya dig folks. I have a pre-prepared story, i.e. my cover. "I kept smelling water in the shed. Dug down and low behold my downspout drain tile was mis-installed and it is wicking water back to my house and foundation. Can't have that.... oh by the way, good time to do that studio remodel as well..." You lay that on the HOA and then kindly tell them to fuck off. Pictures of the drain spouts being dug out... priceless - as the good folks at Mastercard like to say.

Time to frame.

Fuck ya man, I'm writing alot but thats because I didn't have any net access out here, now i do. Been relaxing myself and trying to get into the building mode. I love framing but I can spend too much time in my head designing things and not enough time pounding fucking nails!

what you cant tell from that pic of my freaking-fretting-hand-of-all-hands is all the layers of "new skin" that have been applied to the cracked ends of the sides of my fingers. Every thing I touch with that hands hurts me. not in a good way either.
