My outdoor grow is amazing. Last week or so they have grown quite a bit, I’m hoping it’s stretch phase and done. Largest fullest plants I’ve ever grown. I’m seeing at least one female. I suspect two others but not certain quite yet. I’ve an infestation of whiteflies. Check the image below. Always something seems like. But plants are doing great right now.

More the merrier. I could use advice... :( . Not sure what to do with these whiteflies. I had them indoor. once and cured easily with I think baking soda and a touch of dish soap. Something like this, but outside.. is it effective?

I believe Jerry over on grasscity used essential oils and dish soap as a ipm tool along with occasional neem kelp tea and lactobacillus serum.

Here are some ideas. The one thing I do know is using essential oils is very important to use the correct dose. Too much will clog the plants stomata and it can cause further harm. I'll see if I can find the correct dose.

This is what I use for my weekly IPM on my outdoor plants prior to flowering. 1/2 tablespoon of neem oil,1/2 tablespoon of karanja oil, 1/2 teaspoon of ProTekt silicon and 1 tablespoon of Bronners peppermint soap. That would be per gallon of water. I think your dish soap and baking soda should work just fine for whiteflies.

+1 for protekt silica.

i dont even give a full dose, i’ll use like 1 tsp per 5 gallon, also i let my water settle after adding it, it can be reactive.

Molasses, unsulphered, it will get your plants brix a little higher

This thread has me wanting to grow some KA5H, its either that or guawi

I find the silicon and bronners soap both help to emulsify the neem oil. I sometimes skip the bronners soap and just toss a few soap nuts in my sprayer with some water a few days ahead of time and they work just as well to emulsify the neem oil.

I’ve used lost coast plant therapy, which is oil based, but i’ve noticed it leaves the peppermint smell behind, also its a bit harsh on the plant. luckily with silica and molasses, I haven’t seen PM in a while, knocks on wood, unfortunately, im stuck growing inside, the joys of living in an HOA

I tried the whole KNF bullshot. I still have quart jars of all my OHN's. I believe I tried every aspect of KNF. I still believe a good organic soil and water grow the best plants the easiest. As for essential oils for IPM they have their place, these are what I keep on hand for specific insect control.

For PM during flower is use a weekly application of Potassium bicarbonate. 1 tablespoon per gallon of water. It changes the leaf surface pH making it an undesirable location for PM spores to attach. I live in a hollow and we deal with very high humidity with low air movement so it's a necessity here.

The only other thing I spray for in flower outdoors is caterpillars. I start spraying Thuricide BT as soon as I see bud forming. Late July with some strains and most others in the first week of August. Nothing sucks more than harvesting a crop and finding tiny caterpillars repelling down from your hanging branches of bud.

Excellent info here everyone. Thanks for everything. These plants are just amazing. I really hope they vape up or cob up nicely. The weather has cooperated and has been hot hot and blazing sun. They are approaching 6ft tall!! My soil is unammended. On the bottom is older coast of Maine mix and recently happy frog ocean forest combo on the top. I just dump indoor soil outside. Seems to work. I just have so many whiteflies . I can shake the plant and have a swarm of them. Luckily I don’t have caterpillars!

You newer guys should check out the Malawi style cob thread. I’m just getting into it myself. I just cobbed up the blueberry a few days ago.

Grandpa.. for ka5h. Dubi gave me a bit of slap, but he is right. My ph and Ec were likely way off. The last one I grew outdoors last summer was fairly strong but comedown was hard. I noticed a headache if I vaped lots. I thought it was just me and my weird health but others have mentioned it.

Im off to go spray..

I have cobbed up bud about 10 years ago using my vacuum sealer. I didn't eat it, I smoked it. I prefer vaping fresh bud myself. Or bubble hash, here's some from my last run.

A friend gave me a few grams of Afghani black hash a while ago.

Hey @blondie i think bti bacillus thuringiensis israelensis should help with white flies. I only used it against fungus gnats but with big success. 2 applications killed of my big infection. It took some time to work as it kills the larvae but no more gnats in my room.
I used the culinex tab plus from amazone.

Whiteflies are an indication the environment is very dry.

Additionally, hot weather makes conditions favorable for whitefly reproduction, leading to an increase in the number of insects. Along with drought conditions causing favorable conditions for whitefly populations to reproduce, plant leaves and stems provide a water source for insects with piercing, sucking mouthparts.

I believe white flies lay their eggs on the underside of leaves. Any eggs in the soil would just be what fell from the leafs underside. Products like Gnatrol with BTI are effective on the larva in the soil and are used as a soil drench. I've had great success in controlling fungus gnats with Gnatrol.
