I agree with people with regard to money coming in. It could be argued that money ruins everything it touches, things become tainted and their purity is lost.
Where there is money to be made, and the drugs trade is second only to the arms trade, there will always be unscrupulous practice and eventually violence. Once things become a business or an industry and lobbyists appear, then it is just more grist for the mill of capitalism. (Un)fortunately, it is now a legitimate industry and that brings problems and benefits.
We can try to convince ourselves that it will be otherwise, but the writing is on the wall.
What to do then? The equivalent of the artisan micro brewery perhaps. Smaller scale operations, less homogenisation of strains, growing for effect rather than smell or taste perhaps.
All of this makes the conservation of as wide a range as possible vital. Land races need to be conserved, it may transpire that the plant is the answer to myriad medical complaints, in which case, there needs to be a global bank in line with Kew Gardens in England.

This scenario seems to me the most likely direction a lot of growers would go with ultimately hoping one day to become like say "Jack Daniels".

The corporate growers are going to be more likely to go for output over quality. They may also get more into growing strains with specific profiles of cannabinoids. There is for example the strains like "Charlotte's Web" that is low in THC but high in CBD and has the effect of eliminating seizures in cases where more traditional treatments have proven ineffective. So it doesn't make one feel "high" but still has other effects on people's brain chemistry. If they treat it more seriously as a medicine it's quite possible certain strains are going to have specific qualities to treat other conditions .
This could help shape demand.

Also I hear that eating it or using it in some other infused fashion is very popular. If that becomes the main trend then it could come a day where people start missing the old school way of toking it and so niche markets might form for that. The masses though will most likely end up with an e-joint, perhaps an e-bowl or an e-bong.

You were doing the "right" think based on your own internal integrity before the mainstream decided to follow suit.

The mainstream doesn't work that way, those who lay outside deviate and when they find something good the mainstream eventually follows.

I was being bothered by this about a decade ago, I foresaw the state we are in now.

I thought deeply about it, and realized that, while the mainstream was painfully uneducated about the weed, that the weed itself was life transforming.

See the mainstream can be likened to the concept of Babylon, that is, the concept of a place where everyone lowers the bar and lives according to a narcissistic mantra.

Conversely, the prohibition growing community, having deviated from the mainstream to live according to a mantra that puts values in difference aspects of humanity. In some circles a premium is put on our like consciousness and living according to it. This very well represents the concept of Zion.

However these are not physical destinations but states of mind & ways of being, that are manifested through our desires and behaviors. Marijuana is a natural vehicle to reach this destination so to speak.

So yeah the mainstream will whore her out and try to cheapen her but the weed has a will of its own and will transform more people.

This changes my outlook on the future. It is time to share what we learned and help people make the transformation.

Also once the world is on the weed, we can break out the GD music and really get the party started.
