Ok, so finally I have some pictorial and written updates.

We had some snags in the main room which had delayed things, but those have been ironed out and last minute changes to the irrigation manifold being done now, plants will be in the main facility by this Friday.

Friday before last I received the Chiesel ( Heath Robinson ) cuts. Since then they have been in my old torture chamber, one you’ll all know well. They are under a grand master led master veg 4. 480w veg led light. Think it’s 9k spectrum. The room is a small 1.2 x 1.2 area with max ceiling height of 3ft. Total space is just over 2m3.

The light is dimmed down to 30% atm and delivering 350 ppfd to the canopy. Room isn’t vented atm. It can be if need to, but seeing as I need heat and humidity atm, it works out great.

Using an Ac Infinity 69 pro controller, cloud forge humidifier, thermoforge heater, cloudray oscillators and cloudline 6 inch fan. Room set to 27 deg c and 73 % rh. And it sits at that. Barely moved. Perfect 0.9 kpa vpd.

Transplanted into Char Cior BioPot 1/2 gal coco quick fill. Fed Front Row AG feed with House and Garden root excel and super thrive, 3 ec. 40% part A and 60% part B to account for high background ec of 0.6 and to balance out nitrates, calcium and mag.

Plants getting fed 4-5 times a day, by hand using syringe. Ensuring they get no more than 5% shot size any one time with a break between feeds of a few mins to allow wicking. Feeding till about 50% have run off, very small amount, then every 3 days a proper full 5% run off on each. Plants flying along. Been topped once. Probably wont top again.

Over the next few days I’m going to irrigate the floraflex 1 gal quick fills to 3 ec. Then bring the plants over, stack on top of the quick fills. Then drip feed the same routine, while watching the sensor values on the 1 gals. As soon as I see them drop 20% vwc from field capacity I’ll flick to flower, hopefully about 4 days. During this time I’ll up the ppfd to near 500, co2 at 800 ppm. Other environmental factors the same. But will be adding in a small percentage of far and deep red to help with Emerson effect and just give the plants and boost before transition to flower, where I’ll initiate 100% cool white channel and 100% warm white channel on the grand master borg leds. Working up to ppfd of 1000 tops, turning on under canopy lights at 45% slowly rising to 100% by day 14. Once the plants stop stretch I’ll be moving to an hps spectrum, so no cool white, 100% warm white with added deep and far red. Then start adding in more blue again towards ripening slowly finishing with just the 9k channel for last week of flower.

I’ll talk more on this when I get there. I’ll also address irrigation strategies, and general environmental and substrate crop steering.

Couple of faulty dab pumps in a row. ( bad eBay purchase, on me that ) then a proper faulty one, went bang after 20 mins, means ladies still being tortured. They will be in by end of this week. New pump was delivered to us this evening. Back up there tomorrow to finish hydrating the quick fills, not happy leaving them 1/3rd done.

Hey mate it was great to catch up the other day.. and you've done the impossible - you;ve got this old organic soil grower super excited about a hydro setup ! ( don't tell @DunHav`nFun he'll get a kick out of that)
Growing under LEDs these days the light isn't the limiting factor, LOADS of light.. and i can see that getting the minerals etc into the plants as efficiently as possible may be the best way to get the benefit. I doubt i''ll ever change but never say never... i hope you get those plants installed in the facility this week as you hope.
Cheers

Welcome back Bro.....Looks like you`ve conjured your inner "mad scientist" starting out with all the bells and whistles to pump out bumper crops once dialed.....and yeah.....It`s always wise to have a good construction dewd in your corner for the buildouts......now.....

Your pics from last week on the 21st show definite signs of magnesium deficiencies with that yellowing interveinal chlorosis/yellow streaks in leaf veins and was wondering how they look now ....Also anxious to follow you on your crop steering tech.....Never too old to learn right ?......anyways.....

Thanks for your time and.....

Peace.....DHF.....

Finally an update;) nice one, and looking a ok sounds like the big room is gonna be a nice one to see look forward to another update theherbalizor best of luck on your journey..

one more pictorial update from the chamber then the rest for this run will be from the main room. I may start a new thread for that over in grow diaries. I’ll add links in this thread if I do.
This all feels very nostalgic, particularly the old classic Chiesel. Looking forward to seeing how she does with all the fancy new steering tech. 🧀⛽

Torture chamber brings back memories, great to see it up and running again!

Peace

Yeah she’s a good gal for remote grow and has good ability to take some beating. So hopefullly she’ll do me good. And yeah, good memories of the torture chamber. Wait till you see what trolmaster / thinkgrow are sending me to put in there!!!
Great stuff, atvb
I'll take my little seat in the corner if you don't mind having me along for the ride.

Pleased to have you along. Drinks and snacks at the back.…

thank you man, massive new skillset and knowledge learnt over the last year. From in depth hvac stuff, to pumping, to water treatment skids, to plant sciences. Lots for me to share, and even more for me to learn.

I mean I was shocked to hear you were under led and not trying to find old hps stock squirrelled in old grow shop stock rooms. Lol… but yes, the limiting factor is now most certainly co2 for most and then nutes…

Good to see older members still around!!

hey, wow, super happy to see you around. Hope you are well. Glad to have you here.

Hey Man, ah this is great to see so many old names. Hope you well… and I can’t wait to show you all the main room and what I also have planned for this torture chamber. Trolmaster / thinkgrow been very kind and kitting me out with a lot of kit. Mind you, the main room was at fully my expense. As my £400 credit card interest monthly charges will attest. Eeek. best be productive. lol.. another reason for going with chiesel on first run, she will yield.
Ahhh, great to see, reminds me of IC Mag, days past!....
If only the wd40 cut popped up outta nowhere too!....

ah, wd40. Now that would be amazing. She did me goo for A few runs but started to get a bit weird and drop loads of yield. Others kept running her as she was still good, but no way the plant that it was when I first got her. Shed give 15 oz of the most disgusting offensive gas from one plant. Wonder if hundred gram oz is still around, as he was the original holder of her I believe.

You know its going to be a great grow when all the oldschoolers come out of the woodwork excited 😊

hehe,. It’s great to be back. Never really been away. Just away from live plants.
