Glad you are back. Any thoughts about an Ace Haze type that will finish outdoors near Denver? I am about 40 degrees, but the elevation makes for a shorter grow season.

When are first frosts typically? Firs inclination is the feminized Haze x Kali China. You can go to Ace's website and look on second tabs of each specific strain. It will tell you when flowering outdoors should conclude as well latitude recommendations. Of course, with altitude, most important when you will have first frosts.

I haven’t kept any alive. The time and space dedication is a little too much for me right now but I do have 1000+ OTH seeds in the freezer. Some of those seeds are my favorite green female crossed to five different males separated into different containers by male, so that I have a chance to check the male traits and pick the best line to work. I just won’t have a live cutting after picking the best line, it’s only saved in the seeds. When I get the space I plan to make those one of my priorities. The quality of effect is soooo good, even if you have to smoke a little more to get there. I’ve been chasing it ever since, growing lots of American strains. Nothing has matched the haze yet...euphoric, visual, spiritual. Perfect in other words :)

Sounds like a great chance to dig into the line deeply. I agree with quality of effect. The green OTH is like the best cups of coffee. Clean energy and effect unlike any hybridized recent crosses. Purple is a little bit murkier. More introspective, but still amazing IMHO.

Sorry it’s been a few weeks. I’ll just apologize now for these pics turned sideways. All taken Nov. 29.

You can see that both are really starting to fill out. Plenty of white pistils on both. The purple is starting to show some color though it’s hard to tell in these picture.

Dec. 9 photos

First the purple, still throwing plenty of fresh pistils...

Trichomes are mostly cloudy. I note an amber here and there, a few more clear.

Now the green...

Pistils have mostly withered. It’s harder to get my scope on this one, but I sense it being almost ready for the chop. With full moon tomorrow, I’d say she will be coming down in the next week. Would like to follow that lunar harvest schedule if I can. I’m more perplexed with the purple. Even though trichomes show harvest is near, all of the reflowering has to be considered.

Temps have been lows around 11C and highs up to 22C. We’ve had a lot of rain and wind. Green has shown a few small areas of botrytis. I just pinch and go. Decided to take the mini green house tarp off and let them live with natures blessing. We always need that winter rain and they received 3 or 4 good days of it. I’m sure this has effected the state of the trichomes a little bit. Maybe the purple will be a Christmas present

The green haze definitely has the chunkier flowers albeit the total volume of flower seems less. Trichomes more swollen, but I’d say by the time the purple is done it will have closed the gap. The colors on the purple are really starting to come into form. Probably another good reasons to give her a couple more weeks.

The aroma I got on the pure purple haze I smoked a few years ago actually had a little bit of black fruit mixed with that classic green OTH spice. Aroma on both of these girls is the classic spice but even stronger. I don’t notice the purple liquor scent, but a good cure will tell. [Note, the comments were based on these pics which were actually taken Dec. 9]

Nice looking plants, Narrator. Those purple colors are starting to come through. I have toyed with the idea of planting some purple sativa dominant breeds here close to the Equator, but I am not sure if the purple coloration would appear in a climate that is warm year round.

Pulling up a chair for more pictures as they emerge.

Almost time for some Moloko Plus...
What a great thread my friend. You have some great crosses. You and I think the same. I have some Koh Chang Thai x THH and Zamal x THH I'm itching to get started. In the mean time, I'll be happy hanging around on your thread. Great thread, thanks for posting.
Peace, God bless

Thanks, Swamp Thang. The OTH purples later in its flowering cycle. She may get a little darker in the next 1 or 2 weeks before she finishes. As I recently mentioned, we’re getting lows around 11C right now. I think the purple would be lessened or even non existent at the equator, but I bet you could find phenos in the OTH purple line that would purple up at warmer temps. Dubi would be better at answering that question.

EDIT...was just reading an old thread and here is the quote from dubi...

‘ I'm glad your haze thai parental plants are finally getting some nice colors this round As we commented a few months ago in person, oldtimer's haze and the purple haze thai needs low temps to show colors indoors with artificial light, outdoors the colors come easily in autumn. Best vibes!’

Thanks SolarLogos. I had tried to sprout a few Seedsman O Haze, but didn’t get any of them to come up. One of my old OTH seeds popped, but unfortunately neither of my OTH 3x6 did. I haven’t tried that particular OTH cross and had just been sitting on the seeds.

I’m happy to grow hybrids with some indica in them, but these really hard leaning sativas suite me well. That Zamal x THH could be good. I’ve only grown a few THH and they are definitely not as wild imo as what you’ve got with your VB’s, OTH, etc. The old thread dubi posted on Koh Chang Thai...plants look amazing. Would be interesting to see that.

3 days (in description) make a lot of difference. The green is getting so chunky and resinous. She will likely be my favorite even with a few tiny spots of botrytis. Not just because of the green OTH effect, but also denser flowers...much higher flower to leaf ration. These pics today don’t even come close to doing justice.

The purple will definitely be a study in patience during the trim. So many of those pure white pistils from just a few days ago are now starting to wither. I’m not seeing much in the way of new flowers, so who knows, she may come in right at or behind the green. Given the lunar cycle, I think the next week is ideal to harvest, but I will start taking small samples and get a better view under the scope. I’d like about 5% amber as ideal. But the biggest news is the aroma. I dug in deep today and the dark fruit is so there fighting to compete with the spice and wood.

Things are heating up. First off this tool has already paid for itself in one use.

I should have known these girls aren’t done based on dubi’s original description. Green Haze late Dec. Purple late Dec. - Jan.

Mostly Cloudy but you can barely find an amber trichome anywhere. Perhaps this will be my Christmas harvest.

Dubi’s paraphrased comments that very few people are patient enough to grow the OTHxThai must mean I am very one of the few. Finding amber trichomes on the purple is like ‘Where’s Waldo).

So we wait. I guess I will check every 3 days or so. In the meantime, I’m sure there will be some good photos to enjoy...like the weekend!

Unfortunately, I picked 5-6 spots of botrytis off of the green expression this morning. I think I will just harvest with cloudy/few amber but will confirm after I look at a small bud later today. This cross is supposed to have very high tolerance to botrytis, so this particular plant seems a little weak in that regard. Because of that, I doubt I keep her in clone for next year as I desire a larger plant where I will likely have less hands on to keep such things in check. More to come...

And now I picked a chunk out of the purple. Had to top one of the main colas unfortunately. Might as well look under the scope.

I see the beginning of a few trichomes on the way to turning amber. With the wet cold we’ve been having, I’m going to keep both plants on a short leash the next few days. It’s not supposed to rain again for a week, but there is plenty of dew each night, so moisture is an issue with or without the plastic tarp up.

Smells coming off the purple really highlighting that berry liquor mixed with the hazy spice. Green has a citrus back note to the serious woody hazy spice.

It’s going to start raining again this week. Decided to take the green haze x Thai today. The purple will be soon behind as it is starting to amber as well. Not sure why my pictures ended up blurry, but take a look at the size of the calyxes. The Thai really beefed up the Inbred OTH. My last OTH x Thai was indoors. I expect this to be far superior after a nice long cure.

Smells divine. Old school haze spice, a very distinct hashy aroma that I never got on the pure OTH, so assume that is coming from the Thai. A bit citric/metallic as well. Really beautiful plant. The little bits of botrytis were something I had to keep an eye on, but probably only had to cut out 3 percent of the flowers to remedy. Hopefully no more issues with that as she drys.

I’m going to try and dig the root ball out, replant the remainder and see if I can reveg since I didn’t take clones earlier this year. Hopeful that Works with both green and purple.

thanks for sharing, brotha.

look great. besides, to me, it defeats the purpose to take sats/sat doms to the point where the trichs are amber, as opposed to cloudy/clear.

some will disagree, and thats fine. but, it looks like you did these right.
