Actually that's not true, Gypsy. There is absolutely no way a superadmin can see PMs either. It's not a vbulletin function on this site.

There is only ONE person capable of accessing the PMs besides our hosting company (who have access to our servers of course, but no reason to look short of a court order), and that is me.

So even Gypsy cannot know what is in a PM without asking me.

And furthermore there is no way thru vBulletin to access personal PMs, as we have no mod installed for that.

So it's a big hassle to have to locate PMs by going thru the database. It's very rarely done, usually after we get a report for say PM spam and I need to go and see how much spam got out and to delete it.

So you now know that unlike other websites, we have limited access to personal communications to just one person, not the entire staff. And of course every website must have at least one person who can access the database, so that person can always see EVERYTHING that goes on, should there be a need. And that person is usually the webmaster, who has far more things to worry about than individual PMs...

I hope that puts to rest the misinformation going round.

And remember if you see violations of our forum guidelines in a PM, please report it, or we won't know about it!

If nothing else at least let the sender know they are violating the forum guidelines.

I disagree Skip......who is the only Super Admin on this site?.....oldpink is just an Administrator the same as JJ Scorpio....and myself...

The only Super Administrator on ICM is you Skip...

.....and you have just stated that if we ever needed to, and I can't think of when we ever did......that you could look at a P.M. if you wanted to.....because not only are you the only Super Administrator you are also the webmaster for the site......I am just the owner....

Not trying to start trouble here, but how would you know what was said in a PM?
I've heard the mods say that they cannot read them, but I have good reason to believe they can, and do.

You have no idea who someone really is on the internet, meeting up is asking for problems

The only way any of us but Skip will know what's said in PM is when a member reports it to administration and sends us a copy of said PM if it violates the TOU.

Ask the people in the Keystoners thread if meet ups are a good idea. And even if you're legal, you are leaving yourself open to someone staking you out and robbing your grow if they are that type of person. Some people here show all aspects of their grows and a scumbag could use that to benefit greatly.....

Gypsy, it is possible for a superadmin to run SQL queries via vb, but it's clunky and pretty much useless for maintenance. So technically a superadmin could view PMs, but in reality a webmaster has better tools than vb has. It's the fact that I'm webmaster, not superadmin that allows me direct access to ICMag's database. And this is true for any website with a database. There is ALWAYS someone who can access it and run custom queries as needed or the site couldn't run or be maintained properly.

BTW, I sometimes have to run a query on the database to remove the last traces of someone who deleted their account without informing us first. If I didn't have this power, a few ppl would've been screwed.
