It seems a number of members are unaware that we don't allow people to organize their own meetups for illegal purposes.

Please revisit our Forum guidelines to review our policies. We don't allow any illegal activity to be organized on ICMag. This includes open forums and social groups and PMs. Any members doing this are subject to immediate banning.

We urge all our members to steer clear of any such illegal meetings as they will put you at risk for a number of things.

We do allow announcements of meetups that are legal, sponsored or hosted by legal entities such as Expos, Cups, dispensaries, etc. We encourage people to attend such events to learn more about cannabis and to show their support.

So if you feel the need to engage in illegal activities you will be banned for soliciting others from this site, or using this site for any illegal purpose or conspiracy. Our staff is now actively looking for any such activity and will take immediate action if we see any. We urge our members to report any solicitations to meetup to engage in illegal activities or anyone using ICMag for illegal purposes.

We cannot put this site at risk, just so a few of you can have some fun or do some illegal business. So discuss your illegal activities elsewhere and don't solicit our members.

For those who live in places where cannabis growing and use is legal, and meetups at dispensaries are legal, then we have no problem. But we are not lawyers nor law enforcement, and can't determine what is legal or not. So you are responsible for your own actions here.

Also, please confine any legal, local meetups to the State forums where our mods and other members can verify their legality.

Remember, LEO is watching and waiting for you to step over the line... Stay safe!

Just so long as it's not to engage in illegal activity, it's fine.

But it's far better to have it organized by a legal entity.

Anyone going to such an event could put themselves at risk if illegal activity occurs, since there is no security for such private events.

So you'd need to make it perfectly clear what the event is for, and what won't be allowed.

In this instance, if you're not all members of the same collective, I believe you are prohibited from selling or exchanging any cannabis products based on SB420. Correct?

These are exactly the types of questions that should now be asked for any meetup posted on ICMag.

What is the purpose of the event? Is it legal? Is it being hosted by a legal entity? Will there be security there?

Again remember that all we are concerned about is what gets posted on ICMag. We don't care what you do out there in the real world, only that you don't involve ICMag in any illegal activity or promotion of such. There are other means of communication besides this website (like thousands of other ways). There's absolutely no reason to involve ICMag in any illegal activities.

I thought you could trade or smoke with any other 215 card holder. GoodKarma is having their 4th of July cup with food. Also if TC2010 Passes I would think this would be a Moot point in Cali no?

Here is a scenario. Im having a BBQ/party all of my prop 215 card holder friends are welcome. you must have your card to use medication in my home. There will be no selling your meds in my home but you can bring it and use it in my home.

Yea...been seeing a lot of weird posts lately. People spewing area codes and talking in open forum about meet ups. Specially with all the marc emery drama you'd think people would wise up and not post their area codes and shit when feds have the same internet we do. I.e they can read it and you just gave them an area code...

I had a really good experience meeting up with a member on here like a year or so ago, but i consider that one lucky... there was a close call recently (from what i hear) that could have ended very badly! now i'm completely sketched out about meetups :joint:

Meeting up with strangers to get your weed is what 90% of us did back in the day. I understand the resone they have this rule here. If you are not engaged in any illegal activity then there should not be any issues meeting up with anyone.

In the US cannabis is legal for medical use in many states, but illegal by US by federal law. Federal law trumps. No one from the US could talk about smoking and growing cannabis per the forum rules.

Not trying to start trouble here, but how would you know what was said in a PM?
I've heard the mods say that they cannot read them, but I have good reason to believe they can, and do.

You have no idea who someone really is on the internet, meeting up is asking for problems

i think they're trying to say that if you PM some random member "hey, i like your grow, let's meet up and trade", that's against the TOU and the member should be reported/avoided :joint:

lmao There's paranoia for ya.....no, we cannot see pm's. No, we cannot see IP's. Look up the term moderator. We moderate. Close threads, move em, edit stuff, bin stuff. Pretty basic. We would only know what is in a pm if the other party forwarded it to a mod because of a violation within.

Reading PMs is just a vBulletin mod. I have been on vBulletin forums where the mods could read the PMs.

Alright alright, just asking, and not the first time I've been called paranoid, lol.

But remember, just because your paranoid doesn't mean they're not really out to get you.;)

Just stop, SC this is not your average VB. The feature for mods to see anything, pm`s IP`s etc IS NOT ENABLED AND NEVER HAS BEEN. To insinuate it is is spreading fear and false info. Just because something is possible elsewhere does not mean that`s how IC operates. Please do not insinuate and spread very false info. That upsets us because people in this hobby are paranoid enough and some will believe you.

What is a "Meetup?"

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/California_Senate_Bill_420

So Patients have more rights than any business.

Myself I am a medical person in the State of California and have been 11 years now?

So it should be just fine for me to meetup with other California medical people.

How should we handle that? I am all for freedom.

Respect

Just for the record.. Anyone sending important email to someone else where they do not encode or encrypt is really stupid..

In our age there are so many options to secure your private exchanges.. I understand this site offers email but you just can't share information of a personal nature and expect that it has privacy rights.

This is not just a issue here on ICmag it's an issue everywhere,

My attitude is this: I am a medical person and while LEO can lie and smoke right with me I keep my exchanges in bounds of my medical freedom. Remember to register to vote and get two friends to do the same now! But, I digress.

I believe I can trust someone's word they are medical and I would be alright since no part of sb420 requires I run a background check. However that exchange should be reasonable IMO.

I feel that gifting a few seeds is reasonable but shipping a few pounds is not.

I doubt there could be a challenge to people exchanging seeds and plants when they are a reasonable amount. Because Horticulture for those who have permission to have cannabis is not a crime under California Law as far as I know.

Anyway.. Just adding to the thread and I think this is an interesting topic.
