I was wondering why he would post some old pics that everyone's already seen, instead of some new mind blowing pics for everybody. So have we figured out if that was him or not? Just some guy that wanted anonymous internet strangers to show him some love?

bucket question

bucket question

amazing grow. i have a few questions before i attempt this. these are 2 gallon black buckets. where do i buy these buckets at. and the mesh inserts look to big. i think they are for the 5 gallon buckets. they come in a few sizes for the 5 gallon. which ones are you using. and finally do they make these mesh bucket tops for the 2 gallon bucket...

berryman, I dont think So Quick frequents the boards, or at least he isnt posting.

I've modeled my system after his, seeing those INCREDIBLE yeilds and ease of operation is what did it for me

I was actually going to post a tribute grow diary type thread, SQ was really the inspiration that got me started. As of right now I"m running a similar setup, only using diff style buckets and less #'s and less lights..

he uses 2 gal buckets with holes drilled in the bottom ones, a separate drip line and a feed line. its not a netpot in the top

the way that I modeled my system is very very similar, just a different style bucket.

those are the ones I've been using for years now.

got a couple pix in the gallery. might be able to see some of the construction points

I bet he would have pulled better numbers if he had a coco drip setup =]

well, theres only one way to find out Indica Sativa
and that is to try it.
Im surprised not many has tried to reproduce the same setup as SQ, I mean, where else can you see that big of a nugget... NOWHERE

I think he filled the top buckets with hydroton and set them into the lower buckets. The top buckets do have a netpot like bottom on them so the clone's roots would grow down thru the hydroton and thru the bottom.

so if its not net pots then what are they. they look bigger than the 2 gallon bottoms
the buckets he used are taller and more slender then the 2 gal's I'm using, and they did have netpot or drilled bottoms (I forget which) he, along with myself and a few others, couldn't find the same buckets again, they were a special purchase item of some kind I believe.

so there'd be about an inch and a half or so from the bottom of the top bucket, to the bottom of the bottom bucket, the drain line would run from the bottom one and gravity feed back into the reservoir

the only issue I've ran into with this setup, is that in order for it to be maximized, you'd have to have the bottom of the buckets higher then the highest water level you want in your reservoir, I'm using two 54 gal res's but I only fill them about 1/2 to 2/3's full otherwise theres standing water for a few inches in the bottom of the buckets (simple gravity/drain issue)

I highly reccomend this system to anyone lookin to try out hydro though, it can be scaled down and is VERY user friendly, all ya need is a water pump and a specialized timer that can go down to the seconds (I do 30 seconds on 30 minutes off [same as SQ] and it works great)

I use a 900 gph pump for 48 sites (two identical setups so I can run two diff strains in the same room & have different nute feedings) so that is ~18 gph per plant site if perfectly flat, obviously its not, it goes up about two and a half feet, so that cuts down on the pump output, but I've got GREAT growth with that, it works really well

actually one other issue I forgot about, when I started my first run in it, I had clones in Oasis cubes for starting, I had the drippers pointed right at the base of them so it would soak up into and saturate the cube, but not over do it.... what ended up happening is as the roots grew, some of them grew up and INTO the 1/4" feed tubes, obviously restricting the flow and causing a few to end up dying. Just a heads up/fyi for anyone considering this grow, check the feed tubes once a week or so to make sure you dont get roots growing into them.

Simply amazing, what kind of ventilation is necessary for something this big? O and what does the power bill look like for something like this?

Come Back, So Quick!

But on a serious note, if you want to play in vertical without paying crazy prices for plastic tubes with issues or a coliseum I suggest looking around this site and others for schematics on how to build shelving units. Searches with vertical, stadium, shelf, etc.... should set you straight. AWOW, there is a steep learning curve when you go vertical.
Good Luck

Peace, Love, & Coco
