I remember

I live so rural some of the mountain folk diverted some of the natural spring that flowed good year round as a constant running JOHN, it would go into a 3 chamber cistern and then into the garden best melon's in the county.

I remember coming out and into the valley where we had 2 TV stations 2 radio Morning Hog reports and pork bellies and silage prices. Followed by the Farm Report then Midday Velma & Myrtle talking about Sewing bolt of cloth sales canning recipes and family that needed in the community.

I grew up well building strong muscles 12 ways with "WONDER BREAD". And don't forget those Armour Hot Dogs and Oscar race. My world became marginally better when they invented the fold over flap on a baggy OH YA fresher PB&J. It wasn't till I was in high school that I became aware that the flap was exactly 2 fingers and a fold over was then 4 fingers or half a bag my first venture in to consumer beware.

The Selective service Board coming to the school to make sure your draft card was submitted and filled out for status on graduation. I remember the summer of graduation and President Johnson saying I will not be sending American boy's and watching the numbers and knowing mine was up. But the best of all Fleer still put comics in the bubble gum in Vietnam spent many a night hold them a piece of home I still have one.

They loaded up all the high school senior male students on buses and took us downtown; in January!
They said it was to register to vote...but, also to register for the draft. The bastards!

(There was two States that allowed voting at 18)

Making a skate board from roller skates and wood plank. Great going straight...tricky if you had to make a curve in the road/sidewalk.

I did that but for those lucky enough to have concrete I had 20 feet in front of the IGA market.

Slogan means something totally different now.

Also, our boards screwed onto those old metal "over the shoe" skates turned a little. Just had to lean into it. Me and my Irish twin brother used to go down our neighbor Miss Brill's front walkway and turn onto the sidewalk. Then do it again, and again, and again. A good 30' ride.

Also, the IGA on Central avenue always had this distinctive grocery store stink. Not really bad. Just kinda pungent.
