Never owned a 8 track couldn't handle changing tracks in the middle of a jam.
Yep, Hank...that was the hiccup of 8 tracks. Having portable (road albums) music...sure liked cassettes much better!
remember having a duel tape to tape with a big wattage heath kit set up ,used to rev the neighbours up a fair bit, heathkit out of Canada I think.I think we were the last in the neighborhood to have a fandangled color TV, rabbit ear antenna.

Recall those buying LP's recording them once (reel to reel), then keeping in the sleeve. I played mine until groves disintegrated.
