Hyp3rids. Whos dealt with them?

I got no viable plants from a pack of Cambodian Red. hyp3rids seeds. I seem to recall getting a few weak sprouts or plants that died out later,

I got around 5 plants out of Northcoast Cambodian Red, and that was a pack of over 10 seeds with me getting about the same amount of freebie Cambodian seeds when I requested them. So 5 out of 25 or 30 seeds produced a plant.

Monkey Puzzle Cambodian Red was about 30 seeds direct from Cambodia, along with 12 seeds of another Cambodian line. Nothing from either. No germination as I recall.

hyp3rids got his Cambodian Red from Monkey Puzzle. I think Northcoast CR is the same as hyp3rids or Monkey Puzzle.

The fan leaves I have smoked of the CR are a superior high. The cost and trouble I have gone thru were a lot though.
I have Red II but decided to start with two Zacatecas x Cambodian. All Hyp3rids seeds germinated just fine, also as someone already mentioned, all their website descriptions are spot on, what you read is what you get.

^^Not sure what you mean? There was nothing on their website about poor germination or growth with the Red ll. The other lines I have grown from them were ok as I recall in germination and growth.

I have tried to get in touch with Steve monkey puzzle to get his cambodian red. I also wanted to contact hyp3rids to see if I could buy some pure cambodian red from them, as I suspected their cambodian genetics are from Steve. I have bad luck germinating pure cambo seeds so far.
I bought the last pack of khmer gold on seed bay. Zero germ. I bought 20 seeds of Mekong haze, 0 germ. This time I just went for the hyp3rid cross so at least I get cambodian genes in seeds that I know will germinate. Finally I get to experience a Cambodian sativa again, albeit mixed with another strain. I hope the purple zacateca will be a nice mate, not altering the signature too much.
Sometime down the line I will get my hands on pure takeo and kirivong from either zomia or the landrace team, but for now I am pleased to get some seeds that finally will germinate and surely produce stellar plants.

That is no lie. ^^ The anti depressant effect from the Cambodian fan leaves was evident right away. I may have had some line that had equal anti depressant effects but do not recall it. Certainly not more than the Cambodian.

It may be coincidence but the Khmer Rouge killed about a fifth of the people in Cambodia. Anti depressants were and are needed there.

Pre harvest pics of Wolfman F1 end of week 9.

Smell is very dark, I can think of valerian, balsamic, musk aromas, but I'm sure it will develop further after a proper cure.

My favorite plant of all Hyp3rids plants I grew this round. Smoke report soon.

Harvest pics of Redwood Haze, which is a cross between Cambodian Red and Zacatecas Purple. It’s about 11 weeks old. It has a very unique food like smell. It’s spicy, rotten onions, sour, savory notes, a hint of fruit but definitely not sweet or flowery. The smell might change after it’s cured properly.

This plant is a really good natural antidepressant. It gives you a boost without being too crazy, so it’s perfect for smoking during the day, I like it a lot. Based on what we’ve seen, it seems like this particular specimen is on the Cambodian side, at least from effect point of view. More info soon with more pics from the sister plant.

I smoked Cambodian in the late 70's when I was in high school and nothing I have smoked since comes close. I paid $300 an oz for it. It only came around for a little while. I remember not being able to get to sleep and stayed up all night.

^^ So that is about $1500 per ounce today. hehe You must have been a rich student. This stuff is special and although I never had Cambodian Red or even Thai back then, I think this line I have is a close relative of what went before, might even be exactly the same?

Northcoast has a special Thai called Kroeng Krawia, which I am growing. I found a special plant and cloned it. So Thai Stick and Cambodian Red make a comeback after all these years.

I assume the CR from Northcoast is the same as from hyp3rids. I found a male CR that has an intense and trippy feel to the high. I will use it to dust the females and cross my fingers.

Far from rich. 4 of us used to go in on an oz,the cheapest at the time was colombian red for $50 an oz. We cut lawns and did odd jobs to round up the money just like we did for booze and concert tickets

I wonder what the Cambodian Red from Hyp3rids/Breeder Steve/North Coast looks like. I suspect it is truly narrow leaf. All hyp3rids cambodian crosses have more of a hybrid look with their semi wide leaves. I chose the Redwood Haze(CR x Purple zacatecas) because it was Cambodian crossed with another "sativa". Their purple zacatecas however, it looks like it has a lot of Afghan influence..
I hear the strain is described as having a "sativa" effect, and that is of course more important than the appearance..

I already tried both Redwood Haze plants, and I can confirm there is little sedation if any. The plant I posted on Friday is more on the Cambodian side (in terms of effects), while the other plant (pictured below end of week 11) is still going, slightly better yielding, more on the energetic/uplifting Mexican side, and can be trippy as well.

Keep in mind I'm growing in 1-gal pots from seed to harvest, so you can't see full and accurate morphology of both leaves and plant structure.

It's a potent sativa connoisseur’s stuff, can't wait to try it after proper curing.
