Hydrofarm Habitat Tents - A Warning

well they are doing much better 97%, & 2 of them have been growing like 4" a day w/ no co2, but i havent setup the other exchanged habitat yet, i unfolded the canvas & left it in my van (for a wk) in this 100+F heat, so maybe if it is bad i can get it to gas off everything in those temps. & ill be taking clones this wk so i can start flowering.

I can't believe the canvas is giving off poisonous fumes! This is the first time hearing about it and I must say that company is going to have a crap load of unhappy customers. I think it migh be time for them to change their name lol. That seems to be what companies usually do when something like this happens. It's not good for the consumer as you all will be stuck with what you bought - I hope for everyone who purchased one of these that this is not the case. Good luck to everyone and I hope the company will stand by their product and do what is right.

exactly what my plants started to look like, but not as bad, as i knew about this prob & after a wk in my habitat, they begun to yellow so i took them out asap, & now after 4-5 days of being out, they are back to 99% healthy & green.

Home Box XL

sorry to hear of everyones problems with hydrohuts and habitat grow tents..
sucks that you invest in these tents and they end up slowly killing your plants...i would be pissed.

ive had my homebox xl for about a month and a half.at first it did have a funky smell..plastic.but i aired it out for about 10 days before i started using it.now there is no chemical smell only a sweet ganja smell.
my 5 plants have been inside the tent for over a month with no ill effects.
no pinholes or any other light leaks.it holds my 600w and a 50# can filter and windtunnel with no propblems.
im very impressed so far..so i decided to get the XXL model.along with the clonebox model..
so i recomend the homebox line-up..

good luck.

almost every grow tent out on the market has this problem I wouldn't touch one of these things with a ten foot poll until they have completely resovled this problem

ok...so i ran a test... i took the mothers out of the habitat and put them in the 2nd hydro hut... so i had 2 diff tents hooked up to the same dwc feed.. so if one would have gotten nute burn they both would have...

after a week or so in the old hut the new shoots were completly green. and plants looking more health..

just got back from they hydro store and they had no prob returning it>>>gave me a sunhut that is larger (and more expensive) than the habitat i had bought>> hopefully this isnt a growers edition of that movie GROUNDHOGS DAY...

ok, i sure most of yall know about these tents killing plants, & some of yall know that i have now been through 3, 1 hydrohut & 2 habitats (kept exchanging the bad one for new ones from my retailer) & now the 3rd one is now starting to kill my plants after a wk. so i called hydrofarm this morning (not the 1st call about this) talked to the boss, & he said NOT to exchange it for another habitat b/c "we dont have any good tents out, & we are looking into replacing the plastic w/ fabric" & "it is the plastic that is killing the plants". they are going to let me keep the poles so i have something to hang my lights on & gonna give store credit to my retailer. called my retailer after calling hydrofarm (they were nice by the way) about this, & they agree that the tents are bad, & what gets me is why did it take 3 bad tents for them to ADMIT that these 2 brands are bad. so all in all, BE VERY CAEFUL WHEN YOU DECIDE TO GET A GROW TENT, hydrohut did admit, & recalled there tents (but still have probs), & hydrofarm admitted to me over the phone that they dont have any good tents to offer. & hydrohut emailed me this about the habitats: Unlike the B.S. that is being written on the boards, HydroHut and Habitat are not made by the same company. The materials come from the same machine but after that, everything is different. The off gassing problem is indeed world wide now and HydroHut is only sold in the USA.

The Habitat is the same as the Sunhut, exactly the same product. As you have a Habitat now, a product that is not ours, I would suggest you call your store or Hydrofarm. Your store, by nature, should give you a credit as they will get a credit from Hydrofarm is less than a second on this problem. Hydrofarm and Sunlight Supply (Sunhut) are trying to keep this as quiet as they can.

Your store is dissing you. Call them on it.
, so beware on these tents.

lastly my retailer did say he would try to order me a tent from 1 of the companies not having this problem w/ their tents, so my question is who makes a tent that doesnt kill plants. ive heard Homebox & Secret Jardin are the only 2, but ive read that the Jardins arent made very well, zippers break, light leaks do to bad stitching. So calling all experts, who do i get a tent from? & i know some will just say build your own, but i cant, b/c i have limited use of my arms & hands.

Get a Jardin tent man.. I got my new model DR150 yesterday and the problems have been resolved and then some..

Fabric now overlaps behind all the zippers, so there are no more light leaks at all.

The teeth on the zippers are now like 2x as large and WAY better than the older models, and superior to the Hydrohut/Homebox/Habitat style.

I will make a thread about the newer Jardin tents with pictures and all, but wanted to throw that out there asap as I was the one who mentioned the problems with the original model in the first place.

thanks. wheres a good cheap place to get 1. & 1 of my other concerns was that i use a 8" exaust fan, & w/ the HH & habitat i would cut a 8" hole for a duct flang & ducting, but the looks of the dr150's material, doesnt seem strong enough to support what im doing by cutting a hole, any sugestions

No problem.. I got mine from BGhydro. I have seen other places mentioned that sell them, but don't have experience.

About cutting the hole... I have cut holes in the Hydrohut, Habitat, and now 2 Jardin tents.. I can say the Jardin material is thinner, but not in a way that will affect your ability to cut it and put on a flange. They are all fabric covers in the end. Just use a sharp knife with teeth and cut slowly. Here's a pic of my DR120 with a bunch of flanges added (though i had a lot of fun last night taking all that down setting up the new DR150 hehe):

Oh yeah, it came up that the box has "Secret Jardin" on it, which is still the case, but mine came wrapped with paper and then tapped over, so there is no way anybody would see it. Thought i would mention that as well.

I have a homebox XL and have no problems with it. Just like the jarden it has heavy duty zippers and the flaps are behind then no lite leeks. so far no dead plants and I have had some problems to the air conditioner hose fell off oand the room went to 92f I was so upset. Put it back on with duck tape cooled the room and the ladys look ok.
