sorry to hear the bad news GK, buy a vicious attack dog and have its vocal cords removed, should be the last theft you incur.......

The stuff they took was about two weeks from being done. it was starting to rot and we are going to have shitty weather for the 10 days so I was going to yank them before the heavy rain starts.

judging by the leaves and growth pattern, i'd say DPs Durban Poison has Afghan/Skunk in it.
I got one left that is totally different though and has at least a month to go. That one has a strong lemon scent and is growing in long spears with very little branching.
that one is being seeded by the Transkei. Im glad they didn't get the plants on the other side. they are more important.

Anyway,

growing plants so big so close to my neighbor, who just bought the property, and is having work done on it, was foolish.
tall is great, but not if it gets you robbed!

leaving the property and letting the dogs stay inside sleep in the shade was a mistake.
the dogs can cool of in the shade when i am home.

in some ways I am glad I did not catch them. With the mood I was in, it would have ended badly, and I would have to deal with the police and they would come to my property. I don't want that. I'd rather loose a few plants, than loose my freedom, because I snapped on some one.

@spacetoker
it's nice that you are so open mined.

" but it is the sum total that matters ."

Who does it matter to?
Is that what is supposed to matter most to me?
on Earth, we are responsible to each other for the individual acts we commit and how they impact the people around us.
the sum total has yet to be proven to have any significance.

thanks folks,

Aloha

i feel for the OP, it's the kind of crap that can make you hate people
but it's kind of clear now he was taking some risks, the security wasn't there
going to be a long time(if ever) that a home grower can trust his fellow man not to help himself to a freebie that's showing
and he does seem to be dealing with it well, we've all seen other stories where it doesn't

I donate regularly to our local Humane Society & in fact
my Amazon Smile account donates a % of my purchases

hey I don't follow you. I have no clue if your serious or not. I just said how I felt about it if you were.. if your not. then cool. I just hate people who do anything stupid with pets.. I like dogs more then I like humans.. and will continue to love pets more then humans because humans GENERALLY SUCK

okay, fair enough, but just consider how many vets would do that procedure (none) or how many times you heard of it being done (again none likely), only exception might be a vet doing it to remove cancer. I don't usually use those silly emoticons so I leave it up to peoples good sense to know how interpret what I've written.

one of my springer spaniels (Kayla) came down with cancer, her operations and care cost me way over $3,000, maybe 4K, the money was irrelevant, I spent that knowing full well it was a temporary fix for her comfort, I put her down the very first day her tail didn't wag, the true cost was taken out on my heart.

I rescued an adult pitbull, she was a very loving dog, but eventually she became jealous of Alice (Kayla's daughter) and started launching attacks on her, nothing serious at first, just posturing for pecking order. She attacked Alice a total of 13 times and never really drew much blood, the last 3 times she also bit me fairly well, I forgave her the first 2 times but the 3rd time Scooby (the pitbull) bit me on the inside of both legs and then got ahold of my left arm (that's where she bit me the first 2 times) and then tried dragging me across the room, my friend was screaming for me to tell him where my pistol was hidden but I wouldn't say. eventually I got her near her kennel and she let go & kenneled up.

the amount of blood I lost that night almost put me in the hospital, we were close to making the 35 mile drive (I live in the deep country) to get me patched up, finally it slowed down & stopped bleeding. in all consideration I didn't rescue that pitty to put it down, but biting an owner 3 times carries a death penalty in my book, she could never be trusted not to bite again.

I gave her a lot of love, meat treats and snuggles and then I shot her 2 days later (I never act in anger with my pets), she dropped like a rock without even a twitch. If I'd brought her into the vets office to put her down he would have been forced by law to remove her head and send it to Mnpls for rabies testing, if a dog is put down within 15 days of biting a person they have had to send the head to Mnpls. Her behavior was super loving even to Alice 99% of the time, her attacks came out of nowhere, there wasn't a behavior issue to address; she never snarled, growled or gave any signs of aggression, she'd just attack. 13 attacks spaced over 3 years.

However like every other dog I've owned and loved she was cremated and ashes returned to me, I always pay extra to have my dogs cremated separately from other dogs so I'm sure to get their ashes and not the ashes of someone else's pet.

that's only part of the extent of my love, devotion and caring for my dogs; every bit of what I said here is written in other threads of mine in the Pets and/or Well Wishes forums here.

as Paul Harvey would say, "Now you know the rest of the story......."

the landscaper's tools would be history, and his vehicle would get seriously fucked up...proof or no proof go with your gut instinct.

Beat, sucks when people express the worse of our potential but don't let it discourage you from expressing the best of it.

To reach a higher level of consciousness you have to transcend the world of selfishness most people live in, and not many make the journey. It doesn't diminish the value of the trip or the destination.

Hope the rest of the season works out.

IDK if your legal or if you will continue to grow outdoors, if so I would want to have cameras on the property, at least you can be sure what happened, but it is still a shitty situation since it only tells you who fucked you, sometimes they work as a preventative, but no guarantees.

I have 4 plants outdoors in pots, 3 about 1 week into flowering. (1 a AK47-WW cross that got a late start.)

I was thinking about bringing them indoors about the first of October.

And your story is making that seem like an even better idea.

Sorry that had to happen to you.

Would be great to have video of the theft.

yeah, cameras are helpful. even a sign saying that there are cameras would have been helpful....maybe

I spoke to the new neighbor yesterday and I told him I had a ladder stolen of my property next to his fence, when guys where working there.

He assured me that those guys would never set foot on his property again.
No one wants a thief around.

I just sampled some of the Durban that I had pulled of before it was taken...
my head is racing and im having a hard time focusing... love it

Hello all,

GK, have you any more details you can give that might help thwart another theft (yours or mine)?

Been thinking about methods and steps to help making a garden more thief resistant.

For example, I have a infra red sensor network using 3$ ebay modules and a peizio siren. Makes a hell of a racket.

Also, I have trellis netting running in perpendicular directions and staked to the ground...the idea being that it is more difficult to rip a whole plant at one time and too tedious to trim the branches one at a time.

I also have a barking dog and my bear pepper spray (sprays a cloud 30 feet though it will ruin the buds if contaminated).

I dread leaving the house even during the day and went grocery shopping for a month today to stock up.

Its getting close to harvest and the hair on my neck is standing up.

If its not thieves its the law.

Well, good luck with whats left...may it last you till next year.

That sucks allot. Hopefully you can get back on your feet fast. Time to beef up security-- Cameras. Or dogs if your outdoors.

Call the landscape company up for an estimate on your property and then ask them to send the same Mother f#ck$ng guys to do the work.

sounds like you have it covered. no worries.

I put my plants right next to my neighbors fence.
they where impossible to see from his yard, until they cut the trees down. It was the first year I planted in that spot, and obviously the last.

@PH-patrol.
Calling the landscaper would be an option, except for that I live on an island and everything goes in a circle and is interconnected. If I retaliate than it will never end. I don't want to start a war. I wasn't born here, ill loose.

@Jonny Lan
I was growing from seed and they got 3/4 of my stuff.

that article on the drones....
its going to be the goverment doing that soon!
they will be snooping in every ones backyard, making sure we are in compliance. its guaranteed to happen.
they will replace the "Town Property Assessor" with drones.
