Great to hear Don and you're most welcome! :headbange

Just as long as it's unplugged and cool to the touch you should be ok.

I have my capacitor mounted horizontally and the igniter mounted to the side of the pan and haven't had any problems yet. So, not to worry, it won't get THAT hot. But, if you're not going to add a fan into the mix, I wouldn't recommend using a top. Although the top isn't necessary, a little time and patience with a pair of tin snips , a drill (and various bits), a metal file (I highly recommend a small half moon), and some silicon caulk to attach the fan goes a long way to "prettying" it up.

Good luck Don! :rasta:

Namaste, mess

btw: These are two different ballasts, but both are 250w'ers. The pic of the first is not finished yet, hence the unconnected ground wires and the ballast is located on the other side in front of the air holes. The second is operational.

These pans from walmart are pretty tough.. im going to be using a 3 inch fan on the top so hopefully that will keep things cool.

:biglaugh: I was looking for a stock pot to make some chicken noodle soup and found them in the back of the cupboard. I had 5, 3 metal (2 w/handles one without) and 2 glass. (I LIKES my bread. :muahaha: ) So I went to wally world and found a 2-pack for $3. Took an hour or 2 each to do, but patience paid off.

Without the air intake holes the ballast housing gets quite hot so I've taken the cover off partially for now. Would not want my cat sticking her nose in :puppydoge
