How to determine whether outlets are on the same circuit?

how manytimes do i have to apologize...again i WAS trying to help you

I've just read many of your other posts on this site as well, and it seems that all you do is go around trolling for the most part. Why are you even posting on this site? So you can go around instigating, pissing people off?

Ugh. Yet another thread turned into garbage. I apologize to everyone else for being suckered into this and trashing this place. *sigh*

So you give me negative rep for trying to help? Sorry you don't like the answers to the questions you aslk! Thanks alot, consider yourself ignored from here on out.

I actually gave you a POSITIVE rep, and only gave you one because I couldn't give any more. I gave a NEGATIVE rep to unicorn. If you got a negative rep, it was by all accounts an ACCIDENT (probably when I was trying to give unicorn multiple negative reps). I really apologize for that, as I did value your responses to my calls for help.

I really didn't mean to start any trouble, honestly. Thought this would have been an easy task, but apparently a bit more complicated due to my own situation. Sorry again, everyone.

Hey Clown, are you paying for electricity yourself, or is it included in the rent? If you are not paying for the electricity it would be wise not to increase his electric bill, because the landlord would wonder why the spike in cost. Good way to get burnt.

Either way, you are in a world of hurt, if you possibly ever trip that breaker and someone has to reset it, because they might want to snoop to find out why it tripped as this is a safety issue and a valid reason to investigate, hence, off to the Crow Bar Manor you go.

Yes, I've thought the extremely obvious topics through: I'm on my own meter. This is one of the bigger reasons I moved here (about a month ago), since the last place had utility included in the rent.

Also, although I'd prefer no one come in and find out about it, it probably wouldn't make a huge difference as this is a legal grow. I hold a valid doctor's recommendation, and I'm allowed 72 plants here.

no getting to your panel = no growing buddy!
if you're serious about this than you might want to step up to the plate. do what you're going to have to do to get this grow started. no offense, but there's 2 types of people in this world. those who make excuses and those who make it happen.
which one are you?

unicorn, although that is likely the case I didn't want to approach it like that, if possible. It's such a huge hassle to contact the landlord about anything whatsoever, as I've explained. Either way, I think I've sorted things out in the mean time: the lock is coming off with the help of my friend named "Dremel". After some thought I realized that no one here would notice anyways, and if they did they probably wouldn't give a damn. Just been a matter of finding a quiet time when no one will be walking by, but then again my neighbors probably wouldn't care and might even offer to help me. As long as I didn't interrupt the power to their unit, causing them to miss the current hot video on BET.

I have no idea which one I am yet, but with some support from BudGood2006 yesterday I've already decided that the lock is coming off. I didn't feel the need to really post it on this thread, since I considered this thread dead. But now everyone knows.

I would certainly hope that I'm not the type to shy away from this grow after having gone through so much trouble to make the move out here last month.

my friend no one has to come inside even if you do it the rite way...the box is outside...sounds like your friend "dremal" will help you with the access problem but never the less...they are your rented breakers...you should have access to them...peace

Like I said it might be extremely difficult for everyone else to understand that this building, and situation, is not of "norm". It's as far from norm as I've seen so far for a standalone unit, honestly. Because I should does not mean that I do. Because my landlord should do something does not mean that he will, at least not without a lot of struggle.

For now I think I've got it handled: the lock is coming off at the first decent opportunity, and I will find out soon enough. Just hope it's not yet another half-baked plan of mine that backfires somehow...

Thanks everyone for the help, interest and suggestions, and I apologize if I sounded (or was) impatient.

Not sure how I missed this earlier, but I just noticed it:

14817socks.gif

One pair of outlets on one side of the unit looks like #1, and the pair of outlets where the fridge is hooked up to looks like #2. Does this necessarily mean anything? I recall looking at pictures of various different types of electrical outlets / sockets and their meaning, but can't seem to find it right now.

All of the outlets, including #2, appear very very old and crusty looking while the #1 looks fairly new. I wonder what happened... I guess I could daydream about how they might have decided to install extra circuits here for the stove and fridge until I cut the lock off...

Edit: The outlet where the mini-kitchen (simply a toaster oven with a pair of burners on top) is plugged into has only one socket instead of two like everywhere else, but it looks "normal" (nothing going horizontally, that is). It also appears fairly new, actually. Hmmm...

Interesting... thank you unicorn for your help, even though we didn't exactly hit it off so smooth initially. Hopefully things will turn out favorable. I'll keep you guys updated as things happen.

I'm just hoping they didn't run out of "normal" outlets, and decided to use the one isolated ground outlet they had lying around. LOL

You dont have an isolated ground receptacle in there. The receptacle the mini fridge is plugged into is simply a single 120V receptacle instead of a "duplex" receptacle which has two outlets. You could easily replace the single rec. with a duplex if you needed the extra outlet

It's a regular fridge; an old busted up one, but a regular sized one with two doors and a freezer on top. Ugly puke-green color, too. Anyways, the outlets that the fridge is connected to is "#2" as pictured above. It's duplex. On the other side of the studio is the "#1" outlets, also duplex. The mini-stove thing just has a single outlet, but normal looking.

Hopefully I will have a good window of opportunity to remove that lock this week. My beans aren't even here yet, so I'll have plenty of time, but I'm really curious ... can't wait!
