I have a 4th gen, 40 gig Ipod... I've had it for almost 3 years now.
Battery still is fine, music quality is great... Some of you guys are crazy, you can upload mp3's fine, just don't use iTunes. I personally use a plugin for winamp to transfer my music, works great! No converting or anything except for strange files like .ogg or others of the sort.

what's a program that wont' pick up all the skips on CDs? I'm using Real Player and it does just fine with MP3s but when I put in a CD that doesn't skip with a few minor scratches and save it to my library and then transfer it to my iPod it picks up all the scratches...is it time to replace the old CDs and get new ones?

if you own the CD, you can just download it. it's perfectly legal to have mp3s of an album you already own. that's one way to get around the skipping :)
