All dutch passion BB is from DJ short , DJ short Bred the BB strain , there is another Indica strains that has been in BC for 25 Plus year its a pure Hash plant type .
DJ short created the strain from Landrace strains if its Blueberry 90% Chance it was from DJ .
No matter how may times you inbreed a IBL its nothing new its still the strain you started with inbred a few more generations .

charles you might be right if you have a homozygous plant line, sadly most are not... blueberry certainly isnt, many "ibls" are not.
in a plant with heterozygous gene pairs the end result can vary quite a bit based on selection.

I thought the point of patent seeds was so that companies that sell in bulk to farmers could rest assured that the farmer has to buy more seeds and cannot use the seeds produced from the farmed crops without a law suit.


If you look around these forums at all these elites its so obvious that a majority of them are from old breeders mixed and matched and claimed by new breeders as unique.
With people growing multiple strains at once and more and more now with outdoor and legalization, you can look at the portfolio of pics and say wow that , that , that , that , that and that are all sisters and wow totally different breeders. But they are not very different from each other.
Just about everything elite around here shares a very small handful of parents.

I think a strain is yours when you have bred it to have your signature.

I know that taste and smell anywhere.
If your lucky you can make buds that have a signature look, like 100 buds on a table and spotting that bud doesn't even require a split second to spot.

If cannabis had no money value, spotting rares would be so much easier without the dollar signs blocking your vision. I know that sounds fucked up but how many gems have been tossed because they weren't as potent or the best producers.

People want an Elite that looks like it was dipped in sugar, handcrafted by crayola crayons, Vigor so strong one bud could fill an entire mason jar company, and finishes so fast Einstein is jealous. They want all that in 99% shade, grown in sawdust, with the only fertilizer being music.

That being said when you hand select pollen to create seeds, they are your creation, you are their creator.

first, you cannot copyright a name, that's nonsense... you can trademark it, and it is a different thing; and the trademark only holds water in whatever country you trademarked, and in some countries, trademarking simply does not exist and many businesses and products end up with the exact same names.

second, patenting plants and animals is, imo, an abuse on patent laws, and blatant misinterpretation of what a patent is all about.

companies like Monsanto rely on the ignorance of juries to win trials against farmers that used seeds produced from monsanto stock... they argue since they have made the seeds using so-called proprietary processes, so they can patent the seeds; however, the farmers did not reproduce the seeds using said proprietary processes, so what are the violating? never under estimate the ignorance of the jury.

in the case of cannabis, all breeders may use similar or different processes to produce seeds, none seem to have an exclusive process that is 100% empirical and no luck is involved. so what can be patented? nothing...

this is not like calling 'dips' on something or calling 'shotgun' to ride in the front seat... it is not about who made what pollen chucking first using seeds from x or y region...

people need to grow up already... and yeah, those videos lately with all those kids with acne and no facial hair and dressed like wanna-be rappers trying to talk about genetics is pretty embarrassing to say the least.

I think what people forget when they get mad about the spread of genetics is that not everyone receives the cut / seeds in the same way.

Genetics mix and spread in the same way, DJ's genetics are probably present, whether intentionally or not, in a lot of different modern strains, same with Sam the Skunkman, Sag, etc, and that happened in a lot of different ways, so how exactly are we supposed to distinguish between them?
