One problem with civilians (libs) and their policies, including firearms, and more, is that they tend to address things in often-over-played, simplified, inaccurate by virtue of blanket, one-size-fits-all approaches. It's simply easier for them, while/but having little to do with actually attaining their goal of weeding out those who shouldn't have a firearm.Referencing the can of worms that defies nailing down what is a mental health issue to the extent that one shouldn't be allowed to own a firearm.
There was a time in recent past, maybe still in some places, that returning combat troops with reported symptoms or diagnoses of PTSD were denied purchases of firearms via NICS checks and their 4473's, simply due to the gov's or their own (often generic) reporting.
Never mind that PTSD can present in a multitude of different intensities and variations of symptoms.
They were sane enough to handle serious hardware in illegal wars of aggression, to Uncle Sam's twisted advantage, but carrying a .38 spl. at home might be too much or too risky.
