How long have you all been smoking / Growing?

Some people on here have been around quite a while!

I've been smoking off & on since I was 15 years old, mostly on. The first time I smoked I was 13 though. Shwag in middle and early high school, then beasters and local outdoor in junior and senior year. Headies and mids alternating in periods of time when I had a job or more money. Now pretty much everything is Cali or Colo export to here named strains. Some are decent, some are not flushed or have been kiefed.

I'm 30 years old now.

I grew my first bagseeds in high school. Picked it way too early. I had a bush with like 16 colas that had pink hairs and when dry tasted like red fruit roll-ups. Also had 2 two colad spicy more sativa plants. I got maybe 3/4 oz out of all of them, but should have had a half pound if I let them all get mature. Problem was most other kids new I was growing so I was scared of rippers, plus just to impatient to let them mature fully.

Smoking weed for approx 47 years :tiphat:

Approx 35 years ago ran both wet and dry runs up the eastern seaboard, tens of thousands of lb's of mostly Colombian until a couple of rats decided it was time for me to go on vacation. Looks like you are THE veteran among us , lol , 47 years , can anybody beat that ?

yea i only see the purple haze couple of times but it was very nice both times.. had more of a sweet than spicey scent with purple calyxs was very clean and frosty and was a social high.. but then if were talking that many yr ago we were all pretty new to getting high on cannabis! so the effects would b amped.

HQS were a popular seedbank when i first got into growing.. cant tell u much about them not sure if i heard a rumour that they bred with sams gear but they made some pukka hybrids. i remember swazi and the thai x bb x swazi skunk. pretty sure the durban i tried was from them guys.. think they turned abit shitty as buisness men and ppl in the end i think!

their prices were good and the bud pics they offered were nice!

id need to see their old menu to jog this old memory lol but most ppl i knew who grew back then were all growing something of theirs.

wonder if u got the same thai as we did? looked homegrown to me very high quality! probaly again.. came from HQS:tiphat:

I had a quick poke about for info on HQS, looking at their strains, it looks like a lot of the original Sensi Seeds strains crossed and inlined... I wonder if their current stuff still holds any of those of prized genetics?

The best Thai we had was a bit crap looking, small, brown, hard, buds with lots of sticks, even more seeds.. if you packed half a teenth in a spliff though it was really hardhitting, school girl giggle weed and didnt seem to have any ceiling at all... had a real distinct flavour too, I'm crap at flavours but its what I always think of as Old School Weed taste. (coffee/chocolate/earth/aniseed/pepper/spice flavours).. we had some other bits later on, even some with red cotton wrapped round it (wasnt really around it, was kinda more through it..) it was all import back then, I didnt see indoor homegrown (in market terms) until around 94/95..

I do remember an old Estonian hippie selling his outdoor LEAVES for 12 quid a Q though... man that was some smelly green shit.. and not in a good way ... he lived on a farm that I also once lived on that had huge polytunnels full of courgettes and squashes n stuff....I'm sure he was growing monster buds up there but you never saw any of them for sale...lol... grew opium poppies up there too, not to mention the psychedelics growing in every direction in September.. was quite the place.. didnt even have a road to it, you had to go across 2 fields back then, all the local heads think its proper magical like......I just went all misty then... :D

edit: if I remember correctly that farmhouse was 400 years old...it had 3 foot thick walls too...

in a Real World where people told the truth, we could put things like that on our resume.

"ran an importing business in stealth ninja mode. managed marketing, purchasing, transpo, security, and rodent control. scaled up operation from $X to $Y a year."

oh, and quality control :woohoo:

bet there was some field engineering involved too.

same but I also put it down to smoking mostly indoor grown (thcv, thca lacking or whatever it is - blue spectrum things) and not outdoor. could be genetics too... did you hear about eskos oaxacan IBL?

couple of years ago I smoked some greenhouse grown white jones and it was so damn strong that for a while I thought there was a problem with the lighting in Prix Dami but actually it turned out I was watching my own heart beat.

Lol

I had that book too when I first started growing, read it cover to cover multiple times.

I had to keep it hidden so my parents wouldn't find it lol.

I was away at college, came back home, and it was gone, they found it 😕

I read this (link below).. this was the inspiration for me... I saw this and thought, why arent I doing this?

Incredibly, I was able to coach a new grower on his second grow to very nearly the same results, after learning the method outlined in the thread and passing on all the info to him (he did it himself really, I take no credit, all I did was echo the work of the OP)

I also used these methods on my first grow and was able to achieve the results in the pic below...

Yup and collections too although I NEVER had any issues when it was strickly the weed biz. When it turned into the cocaine business that's when all the trouble started but I was already on vacation.

The rodents that helped me get that vacation, one inherited his daddy and mommy's jewelry store in Toms River NJ and the other I don't know..........think it's cold enough now? Heh heh
