What Canada was like in 2003 in regards to marijuana and grow ops and what it's like in 2009, under a totally different government are well.......different. I'm IN Canada too....I know what's going on.

i agree with your comment on how they keep saying gangs run the ops , but you have to agree with me the stereotypical viet gang op is not really something growers can be proud of. im sure the media and cops only release the worst pics but most of what ive seen by the big gangs (as defined by the cops and media, of course) is hydro bypasses, destroyed property, etc. not saying all gang-related grows are like that but i wouldnt be surprised if more gang ops were dangeorus to neighbors and destructive to property than individual guys / group of guys that arent a gang

hay karma, i can only give info on my personal experience, so ill tell another story.
when i lived in winnipeg and went to university, my neighbors and i had some babies in the back yard(s) in canadas most notorious hood:the north end. their alarm went off one night when i was smoking a gagger on my portch. they noticed my coharts plants i think 5 nl#5 and decided to check mine( cuz they were right there as well on my side of the fence). they came across my patch of about 30, all over my yard. i walked outside cus i knew what was up, and waited for them. i told them we all went to school and grew our own so we didnt have to pay for unhealthy who knows where ganja. they ran my name and saw my student card and guess what they did....... made me bag up all my and my neighbours plants, drove me down to the red river and made me throw them in it. this is the first time ive mentioned this event because they made me swear to never tell another soul or theyd make mine and my families lives hell(like living in the north end wasnt bad enuff already;-)). they dropped me at home to my mothers and babies on my veranda that were due for transplanting in my attic the next week. thank god it was dark cuz if they woulda seen my indoor ladies they woulda been pissed. no cuffs, no arrest no nothin. grew there 3 more years then moved back to bc, fucked eh? if you can prove to police that you are a non violent, non gang connected person with a small set up, you are only facing a fine which i paid court costs for from a grow that got busted when i was in the netherlands for a year 2 years prior to the od "bust". go figure, i love canada

oh dude, i agree, organised crime runs alot of grows, then trade for hard stuff down south etc etc etc. it is the gangs that gave growers the worst name for sure 100% but, what the government is organised crime. and i dont see police shutting down strip clubs, bars, car dealerships etc that are 100% gangster. well, strip clubs sometimes for sure, but organised crime is everywhere because laws the government makes creates them arbitrarily. irradicating grow ops will noit stop organised crime. the boys downtown have club houses everywhere, when do they get irradicated?????

pot to me empowers people because anyone can grow it, and it provides medicine that takes power away from big pharma that is connected to government. if you went to med school for at least 7 years, then found out you suck because 1 plant can do better then you, you would ban the plant and call it poison and join the propaganda machine as well. it can make food, medicine, shelter, clothes paper, on and on and on i can go. that means people dont need corporations in between man and nature which means no more corporations toi control the planet we all share and need to live. digg?

I hear ya Medicine Man. My experiences in the burbs around Vancouver have been similar. Had a talking to once, with the recommendation that I set up shop a couple neighborhoods over. I love Vansterdam!
