how does autoflower do in small pots

got 3 choises 1. small redbull pot (aluminium can 250ml)
it fits 25

2. bercan (aluminium can 500ml
it fits around 12

3.milk carton (vax paper 1l )
it fits around 9
how high does most autoflower strains grow with these very stunting pots ?

how is the structure of em in flower , will most be like a bud on a stick or get branching?

how often you think i need to water with the different pots .

the height of my floor of my cab to the cooltube of my light (70wmh) is around 30cm

i cant use any bigger pots then this becouse i am going to try alot (5strains) and in regular seeds (mini sea of green) ,to see what kind of plant i really like to make seeds with with cs, pics of autoflowering plants or grows with as small plants is really helpful and i think alot of other autoflower growers might wanna see how real mini pots are restricting autoflowering plants . feel free to give your own personal experience or links to other mini autoflowering plant grows ! HAPPY NEW YEAR !:tiphat:

Milk cartons might work if you use them full height. But 1 gallon or 6" pots are best with autos. 4 per square foot until sexing then let em flower in more space.

what kind of medium are you using? i mean i would go with 500ml cans, if it's good soil, but with vermiculite or coco 1g containers would be better and you would probably only have to water 2, or 3, or 4 times a day,

Used some recycled material for my autos.
Snowryder auto was placed for a couple of weeks(intermediate veg stage) in a cut-off 1.5 liter milk bin (plastic) with some holes on the side a below for better drainage. Worked fine for me. The right plant is a Snowryder.
Would take either carton or plastic as you can make drain holes, LST attachment points or holes for aerating roots more easily.

I'd never use metal containers if I wouldn't have to.
On the other hand, I actually recommend plastic milk plastic flasks, as they are costless & flexible -comes in handy for any DIY task-. I do always look what kind of material it's made of (toxic properties, heat resistant, contact with water will do what with the material, etc). I learned all the stuff I needed for growing from the internet in the matter of a couple of weeks. A lot of information is out there, a great thing about our time.
Here's a shot.
SnowRyder fem at right.

I would go with the 1L pots if you dont have access to bigger containers.
But instead of soil i would reccomend coco for such small pots.
Even in a 250ml pot the plants would perform nice when using coco
But generally autoflowers prefer bigger pots tho
check out my grow to see an auto ak in a 7l pot ;)

Milk containers are HDPE, inert and non-toxic as far as plastics go so good on ya, Reduce, re-use and recycle! :) I also use those cut off for cuts to harden up in once rooted. Remember, like a fish in a fish tank, a plant will only grow as big as its root zone will allow so more is more..

Go for biggest possible containers.

The benefit of more numbers in small containers is lost when you have to water them trice a day cus the small containers dry out so fast. (not to mention the almost nonhappening yield from such a small container as a redbullcan.

Check out the beer-cup-contest-threads to get a grip about how the yield might be in such a container ;)

yeah water 3times a day is a nono go how often must i water a 1liter (the cab is 29degrees celsius with 50procent rh) once in the morning ?:thank you:

Your medium will make more of a difference to how often you water. The same pot with hydroton might like watering twice a day, perlite/coir/castings/lime (promix) might need to be watered once every two days.. Try different things and see what they do?

In one liter containers, without potting up, I average about 5 grams of trimmed dried bud using very old school autos. On 2.5 to 3.5 liters, using stacked transplanting, It goes from 14 to sometimes 25... I would use 500ml only for making seeds, or disappointment.

There has been some sort of tests with autos on . I guess a translator could help since its in swedish...

Anyway, I dont know if its stated, or maybe I just forgot; But sum up was: the smaller container, the smaller plant.

I guess Mike is on to something. There is no idea to plant em in less then 3liters... and still youll get dissappointed in the end.

Good luck!

tack för tipset ! i am using soil with 25 procent mini leca , gonna do a big seedrun actually and try out different strains .hindu kush bluestreak s60 and a lot of other strains are waiting ..

i have found out that using cat sand from danish moler is a awesome way to keep the soil moist. it holds ALOT of water like ALOT.. and does not harden like becoming cement or anything , i just clean it up real god to get the dust away (under hose) and then mix it with the soil and use it on the bottom and toppdress with it .. using 250ml pots until the showing of sex on autos .(hey i am a micro grower ) new user on this acc by the way so dont get confused . i water once in the morning everyday. :blowbubbles:

In my experience auto's and small container's do not mix well.

Agreed. Prefer 3 gal. myself on most,, some 5 gal.

Put something light colored on top of the pot helps to retain moisture too. Something as simple (and cheep) as white sand helps a ton.
I'll often use 2 white plastic plates cut to fit around stem and used on the pot (Dollar Store / 8 fer $1.00). Helps retain moisture & reflect light.

Just a couple ideas. :tiphat:
