How do you people do it???

I have tried everything i can think of. I have read for months...years on how to cool your grow, but I can not figure it out.

I have a 1000hps in a cooltube with a 640cfm fan blowing across the bulb and out a vent hose thru the ceiling. The fan does not have a hose on the side sucking air in. The room is 7x10x8 and I can not keep the temps below 85-90. I have a box fan and another fan blowing right at the top of the canopy.

How can I lower the temps? I do not want to buy a portable ac that would be an absolute last resort.

What can I do? I will try anything

640 cfm house thermo is set at 75

the room is a steady 85 +

From what I understand a lot of air cooled systems are only designed to keep the temps within 3 - 10 degrees of teh ambient temps. I saw a chart about it somehwere...

i cant remember the brand

it is a vortex/can-fan inline style fan

Wow, you have your thermostat set at 75. OMG if I ever put mine thatt high I would be paying out the ass for my gas bill more than i already am. I actually keep mine at 64.

But anyways, If you were to lower your heat in your house a little bit it would help.

A fan on the intake might help, but its really only pulling in that warm air a little faster. Like mentioned before it will only lower temps a few degrees in a lot of sittuattions.

Are your ballasts in this room also? If so try to move them outt of the room.

What size is the cooltube?6" 8" 10"?

Try shutting all the AC vents in the house and leaving the one in the grow open, this way the grow will get the full blast and probably work more efficiently seeing as the AC doesn't have to do the work of cooling the entire house.

In a 7 x 10 x 8 room and only one 1k watt light I cant really see as to why your grows ttemp is that high.

Also, how much ducting does your fan have to push air through?

LOL, too simple.....block the heater vents in that room with something....if it then gets to cold then only block 3/4ths of it. try it...it works

peace

Trey: where I am the temps outside are already in the upper 70's and 80's

Jnugg: it is a 6 inch cooltube

It is sounding like you have little choice but to go with an AC unit, unless you have some other way to draw cool air into your grow.
best regards

forgot to add...you could also incorporate CO2 into your grow and it will love the 85 degree temps :)

lower the thermostat...

set the timer for 18 hours on, 6 hours off...

install the fan on the other side of the light to suck instead of blow??...

open a window??

how would I use CO2 if the fan vents all the air out once per minute?

your room is 560cf, the fan pushes only 640... that right there won't help much. All ya need is some co2, if you are staying away from an a/c. Just do a search, I am sure there is a lot of info.

You should have no problems growing in that space with a thousand. As has been said, lower you thermostat, plug your heater vents.Where are you venting the hot air to??

intake should be run from the coolest spot you can find in your place. Or vent from an ac unit.
