how safe is it taking a money order to the post office for express mailing (3-day registered or whatever)? if someone there recognized the recipient address as that of a seed company, couldn't they prove that you are ordering seeds? is it better to put the MO in a sealed envelope first, maybe with some other papers, and if they ask just say its documents? seems i read somewhere around here about being careful mailing money orders, forgot what thread.

omg this cant be right, one has to present photo id to buy a money order nowdays? at least thats what this one place says (grocery store, western union MO's). been a while since i bought one, thought it was just pay cash and no questions. was going to use a prepaid CC but i heard seed boutique's CC processing is down. maybe im just being overly paranoid, but seems that payment anonymity is a worthy concern.

What about a liquor store? I get my money orders from 7-11 and the only thing they ask for is the amount and money of course. I've never heard of a store asking for ID when it comes to money orders considering ID has nothing to do the validity of the money order.

Seed Boutique has an excellent reputation for delivering da beans

Cash concealed in a greeting card in a normal, everyday type, carefully addressed envelope with proper standard postage will accomplish the task at hand of acquiring ones foundation genetics.

For security reasons use the same return addy as the one your mailing to, put the return on the back flap of the meticously addressed envelope as using your planned actual return addy on your outgoing mail may not be a prudent thing to do. (as the seeds will be coming there in a couple/few weeks)

K.I.S.S. - Keep It Simple Simon,
The less fuss and muss the better, imho, no need in leaving various electronic and paper trails if one doesn't need to, but feel free.
...No verification E-mails, zip, nada, nothing, just send it and trust and believe that the folks at the other end at Seed Boutique/ Seedbay will be honest in their dealings with you and will undoubtingly dispatch your order in a timely manner upon receipt of payment. It has worked for many before you.

Let common sense dictate and don't send more than you can afford to lose, as sh*t can occasionally happen,...customs can get lucky and possibly snag incoming beans, or so I've read.

A postcard (whatever) test mailing to an address with the old occupants name on it will tell one if they're still forwarding the mail or not, after about a year they usually stop forwarding services unless the mail forwarding request is actually renewed as I understand it.

Have a good day ya'll,
Enjoy your new hobby. :)

Ya Ive mailed cash before too in the past, but recently there was a problem supposedly with the mailman or something... there were lots of packages that SB never recieved... they had to change the adress too... somebody can still steal their mail.

If you are going to send cash, OVERNIGHT WITH TRACKING, I would do that anyway with the recent problems with orders never making it.

I.M. Boggled, Id have agreed with you awile back... just send in use cash and no trail, thats how Ive always done it..... but with the recent problems with mail not making it I would think twice about that.

They give an extra freebie to offset the costs of overnight!

great post I.M. Boggled, yeah gotta agree K.I.S.S. is the way to go, less stuff to possibly go wrong. i wonder about the "security features" some money orders have (usps ones in particular) that perhaps make them detectable by x-ray or whatever just like cash? could that be why they sometimes disappear? i would think carbon paper wrapping to avoid detection might be kind of a red flag, but greeting cards yes perfect choice for several reasons! :)

make the return address the same as where you're sending? i would think that might draw attention, but i guess being on the back side isnt so obvious. presumably all they look for is the presence of a return addy without paying attention to what it is.

Ok, i ordered and the money order is leaving today.

the return address is real but it's not the address i want my stuff shipped to. in the boutique i have the address i want things shipped to, there is no way they'd ship to the return address on my envelope is there? prolly not.

well, until they start taking visa, i just got some northern lights. figure thats the best newbie strain indoors head and shoulders above the rest.

wish me luck fellas :)

Heir, I also just made (my first) an order on the 5th, They (SB) received payment on the 12th and sent the beans on the 13th. It's been 10 days so far.... I don't know if I should count Saturdays?
Well I'm getting worried only because it took just 7 days for the payment to get there?

I'll let you know when and if mine show.

i think it'll take longer on the return trip, since it'll be hitting customs, also you sent it to england and the package is coming from a'dam right?

so you should be happy as hell in a couple more days, lemme know when it comes :)

Hi, Nothing yet... Starting to loose hope.
I'll try again but with a place that takes CC, The Money order thing is a pain. I'd rather use a Visa gift card or prepay card.
It's been almost a month since the order was placed... bummer i was looking foward to a nice 1st order of some good beans.

You will be fine. SB is on the up and up. Where I'm from....round trip 9 days. always recieved. And just to warn you. Do not discuss the shipping method or routing of the object in question. you might want to do some editing. If DG comes by and sees something out of context, she will close shop on you.

Do not worry your package will make it. Just remember we are getting into the holiday season and the mail will slow to a crawl until January.

Twisted, it easier to send cash. Faster too.

Got my fingers crossed for you man!

I estimate another week on my order.

I ended up getting a walmart money order for 46 cents.

All i did was write the order number across the top of the money order. nothing else was required right? each day i start getting more and more doubts hehe.

Thanks man, I don't think it’s going to happen, all-well no big deal I've lost a lot more money in Vegas.

I tried to open a ticket, no response yet. I was just wondering if they could do a little tracking, maybe just to see if it is still in the system some where.

No worries, you’ll get yours. I’m sure this happens with the mail system sometimes. I still have faith that GN is on the up and up and I’ll give it another try later.
