We always hear, no sell ,no smell,no tell but I was wondering what is the most common reason any icmag members know for sure,what got them busted. It could be helpful if there are some reasons I haven't thought of

how did you get busted ?

I regularly google "marijuana grow" on google news.
From my observations: 98% of busts are due to snitching.
1.99% are from grower stupidity, including domestic altercations.
The rest are from what I call the 'Axe of God'. For example the fellow in FL with 52 plants in his mobile home which had it's roof ripped off in a hurricane and his grow discovered by rescue workers, the fellow who's next door neighbor's RV which caught fire prompting the fire brigade to enter his home to make certain it wasn't in danger of burning, or the poor people that had a Cessna crash into their grow room.
If you've got your op buttoned down the last category is your biggest worry, and you may as well not worry about it because there's nothing that can stop the axe of god.

Has anybody got busted because of internet?
I mean talking in forums or buying seeds and growing equipment?
I got once busted when cops stopped us and searched the car. They found small piece of hash.
We were bunch of hippies in small town and they were after us for couple months and finally got something. But they did't find our growroom!
Or my stash!
Just couple grams!

To my knowledge, getting busted smoking at a festival or somewhere does not give probable cause to search someones house.

Many states have a "diversion program" for first time marijuana offenders. Is much like they do for first time DUI offense. After you finish the program, your slate is wiped clean - no record.

scenario i know of, amtrak train, another idiot is snitched on and dogs come onto the train for somebody else. bammo, your popped.
"a Pal of mine said" Its was 4 am. My wife had just gotten home from giving birth to are first baby. alittle early that night my aunt came to me and told me the fellow shed been living with(10 years) had raped her... if you know me you know i dont play around with that shit so i went over there knocked him around awhile till we got to talking.. turns out my aunt had lied. so to make up for it i went and got him a bottle of vodka.. where there just kicking it laffing about what had happend he said watch this... he chugs the rest of the half of bottel of vodka... 3 mins later he went out to take a piss(we were in his van that he just ran over a curb and i dont know how but broke his breaks... only the emergency brakes would stop...) so hes peeing and i hear thud... he fell face first of the rocks... im like ohh shit... so i drag his ass back into the van freakin out... i figured id let him sleep it off... so i drove him back to his place( across town with no breaks) shut off the car and walked home.. i get home take a shower. go to sleep... 4 am.. knock knock.. it was the police they said he died and someone said i killed him#@$@$@$@$ what the fuck!!!! so they need to come in to search because they tell me he had a huge cut on his head.. (there was no blood on my cloths) but they needed to search my home anyway. i said no.. they said to badd and thats when they found my 29 plant grow... they took me down.. found out i didnt kill the guy. but neededless to say... 5 grand and 3 nights in jail and 4 months later.... i was done with that shit...

So your aunt lied to you? What a bitch, especially to lie about something as serious as that.
touchwood i never have but all of the times someone i know has been busted its been about something else. they got caught shoplifting or speeding or driving whilst disqualified. one thing leads to another and they get searched.
so my advice to anyone is to keep your nose clean and dont break the law in any other way.
if you go to smoke at a friends house then take enough pot for you evenings needs and return home with nothing., if you have a little left then be generous and leave it there. then you cant get caught on the way home

So wait a second... the cops had a search warrant but they knocked on your door and talked to you first? Why wouldn't they have just kicked it down? And why did you answer the door?
I bet 80% of the possession busts are for idiots smokin up in their car.
If you want to avoid jail, break one law at a time.
If you want to be high and drive, get baked before you get in the car, or eat a brownie or something.
Reeking of fresh pot too, if you don't own a goddamn Foodsaver or the like, get one NOW. I got pulled over with 5.5# of trim in my car, and it didn't smell one little bit, guess what, I didn't get busted!

Apt grow was left unattended for a couple of days after closing all windows and patio doors due to violent blizzard (usually at least partially open). Upon my return humidity was 100% so I opened patio door to vent - large cloud of condensate = fire department arrived shortly after I left. My own fault, it's not like I couldn't afford a dehumidifier. $3000 fine and 90 days, now I'm just interested in sharing information with friends.

My friends dad got busted last year, he had some sort of electrical fire in his grow room. His neighbors called the Fire Department when they saw his house up in flames. And when they went in they found his grow room and called the cops. So, basically half his house burned down, his Doberman Pinscher died in the fire, and he got arrested...sucks. His dad isnt 100% positive on what caused the fire but thinks it had to do with his electrical setup in his house..not sure
