ive never heard of a MH being better for flower than a HPS unless you think the extra UV will create better potency bud. the HPS as i know it will always provide a better yeild. but i have no experience with the one you have linked above and sounds completly different than any other MH ive read about.

The blue light is for cooler veg cycles, definietly go w/ hps for optimium spectrum and get he one with the most lumens possible. Remember 5000-7500 lumens per plant for optimun growing.

Blue Series MH from Eye Hortilux

Blue Series MH from Eye Hortilux

Who will win?
:dueling: <-- HPS on the left, and Blue MH on the right.

The 1000w Blue series MH produces 80,000 initial lumens, where as the standard MH produces 110,000 initial lumens.
A 1000w Super HPS from Eye produces 145,000 initial lumens. The most important fact is that the HPS spectrum resembles the sun during Fall.

The Blue series MH has less lumens, but WAY more useful light than the standard MH. I highly recomend the Blue series bulbs for vegative growth, But I would definitely use the HPS for flowering.

We may not be able to copy nature, but we can at least improvise...

Look at the spectral Distribution to see for yourselves...

And i agree with Mr Morrison, Hortilux eye super is an excellent choice.

i actually just went for the Growbright super HPS.... probably the exact same thing as the hortilux.... 30% more blue, more lumens blah blah blah... it was 68 bucks shipped from ebay...

The lumens are just going to make your room seem brighter to you,the plants arent seeing it at all.Hortilux 1K lamps are 535 par watts,I dont know about the horty blue but I doubt it would match that.If I were to flower with a "blue white" lamp it would definately be the agrosun gold,1K agrosun is 580 par watts I havent been able to find a higher par wattage 1K lamp.I still use hortilux and probably always will I definately dont think I'll get any improvement froma different lamp

Ask cadillachydro. He has a 1k with a Hortilux MH Blue.

For those of you who aren't aware, EYE has a relatively new specialty MH bulb with a spectrum that appears to be much higher in PAR than any other bulb. This isn't your ordinary MH bulb.

By now we should all be aware that lumens mean very little to nothing in terms of what the plant sees. But I keep hearing "more lumens more lumens more lumens".

Anyone using a Hortilux Blue yet? I saw these at my grow store. The color spectrum is amazing.

Here's a 1000 Hortilux HPS

I don't think they put out the lumen of a HPS, but the spectrum looks damn good to me.

Anyone flowering with one of these yet? I'm very interested.

They're available in 250, 400, and 1000 watts.

I use the Blue for VEG and the Eye for flower and all has been well for years now. I LOVE MY HORTI'S.

Clowntown if you can find spec's,I'd sure like to see them.Agrosun gold MH is 580 par watts for 1K,1K hortilux HPS is 535.I still prefer horty for flower and agrosun is real pricey even compared to horty

Mr. Wags, you mean you use the Blue for veg and Super HPS for flower?

ballastman, I know very little about these bulbs but I couldn't find anything about the PAR watts on the Blue. From the appearance of the spectral graph, however, it looks to be high as you don't have much outside of the sensitivity curve. Maybe someone might be interested in contacting EYE (Iwasaki) and finding out...
