A hotdog is a sausage, until you put it on a bun (which is obviously not required; any stoner heathen knows many a hotdog can be eaten without a bun... or even heating.. or without condiments).

When you put a hotdog on a bun, it's a form of sandwich, just as a hamburger is a hamburger (meat patty), which may or may not be presented with a bun. Both are called a hamburger, but one presentation is a sandwich.

So, just as with the various political polls I receive, wherein the potential/prospective answers offered to choose from do disservice to the more accurate details or specificity in any accurate answer, I wasn't able to answer the poll in good conscience.

And it's perplexed me severely for the last 2 minutes....

OK... Now I'm over it....

Just saw "Pinks Hotdogs" on NFL Football

I grew up in Hollywood and would go there for lunch (went to Fairfax High). Local Paroles would help you park your car.

Two Pink's with Chili and onions please.

According to Merriam Webster...

Technically it's a sandwich. Real world use, people will think your weird (anal-retentive) << when you call their hot dog a sandwich

"The word hot dog refers either to the sausage that you buy squeezed in a plastic package with 7 or so of its kind, or to the same sausage heated and served in a long split roll.
When it's served in the roll, it's also a sandwich.
We know: the idea that a hot dog is a sandwich is heresy to some of you. But given that the definition of sandwich is "two or more slices of bread or a split roll having a filling in between," there is no sensible way around it. If you want a meatball sandwich on a split roll to be a kind of sandwich, then you have to accept that a hot dog is also a kind of sandwich.
You could hinge your anti-hot-dog-as-sandwich argument on whether the hot dog sausage qualifies as a "filling," but if you choose to interpret filling narrowly as only "a food mixture used to fill pastry or sandwiches," rather than broadly as "something used to fill a cavity, container, or depression," then you're not going to allow any single-item filling to qualify a food item as a sandwich—which means there can be no thing as a peanut butter sandwich or a bologna (or even baloney) sandwich.
Hence, a hot dog is a sandwich."

Well, if that wasn't depressing and disappointing.

All those years as a youngster spent eating what I thought in my heart of hearts was a peanut butter sandwich, only to have that myth shattered, just like those of so many other parental betrayals where truth was concerned; the Easter Bunny, Santa Claus, the Tooth Fairy, Liberty and Justice for ALL, etc., etc.

I was also disappointed in Merriam. Some things just aren't right. Going to have to side with hotdog.org on this one...lol

Is there a point spread in Vegas yet, as to where this whole question ends up?

If so, I'm placing $20 on hotdog = sandwich.. -if- there's a bun involved. No bun, then no sandwich.

*Bread is way more important than we often give it credit for.

why is Webster considered right? Don't we have the human right to consider Webster wrong? As functional human beings shouldn't we consider the possibilities of Webster being wrong, debating the fine points and reaching our own conclusions? Are we not men?

No, "we are Devo!!"

(*My, but how a lot of the 80s music sucked..)

And yes, I agree. From this point forward, as a matter of flipping the middle digit to Webster, merely on the principle of true freedom, words shall mean what ever we say they mean; no agreement necessary, unless Snopes says otherwise.

I would've celebrated that post with a hotdog and an Old Rasputin Russian Imperial Stout, but the closest thing I can find here at the moment is a Jennie-O turkey kielbasa, with 65% less fat.

Someone apparently took 2/3 of the fat that was once within. Another mystery to solve!!
