Hoods: Bigfoot, Raptor, or Magnum xxxl?

Ok, so I know the Raptors are superior to the XXXls but I have a question for those that have used either or, or even both.

My options atm are to either get ;;

a) 6" Raptor (38.5"L X 29.5"W X 10.2"H.....39.5 lbs)

b) 8" XXXL (38.5"L X 29.5"W X 9.5"H...... 35.5 lbs)

As you can see they are both basically identical as far as coverage goes., but the xxxl is an 8" as appose to the raptor's 6". Also the xxxl isn't as heavy.

The questions I have now is, how is the reflective material on the inside different from one another? Will the xxxl throw hotspots where the raptor won't?
i guess that is my biggest concern since the only thing i'm having to 'deal' with are height limitations since im growing in a 5x5 tent.

Right now i'm using a Blockbuster and it is throwing hotspots like a MoFo and i'm getting some bleaching in the center of my canopy.

Hey nuk I just bought 2 xxxl ochos and they work great. I just replaced 2 vertizontals and am happy to be back to air cooled, the verts worked ok. If i went back to uncooled I would get the adjust a wings.

For all of you using Raptors and XXXL's,are you running them 4x4/1k or 5x5/1k?And has anyone compared the results of both footprints, considering yeild and quality?Im planning on running 3-4 Raptors/Ushios in a sealed room.Havent decided if I want to aircool them or not.Or if I want to use a 4x4 or 5x5 footprint.

I have 4 XXXL's going right now. They are the bomb. You did not make the wrong purchase. They work just as good as the others.

Yeah they do, I have 5 6" Magnum XXXL's. The Raptor is too big plus the reason I would rather have the XXXL is because they don't have as much vertical height as the Raptor. I prefer the design of the XXXL over the Raptor.

I say Go with rAPTORS. Better quality. The seal is 100x better on the raptor hoods

i just love how the raptors look, and the name is bad ass  but smokeone had a good question, can these raptors or even the sunlight xxl fit in a 4x4 tent?

in the future i plan on buying a 4x4 and stickin' a 1000watter in there, with either the raptor6 or xxl6,but will they fit?

also if these are two big,i suggest a look into the blockbuster 6 or 8in,these things look solid built and 24x24in,a perfect square

Raptor probably too big. Blockbusters are great, would light the 4x4 tent well. Keep light a little higher if going with blockbuster, the light they throw is intense.

the 6"raptor and/or the 6"xxxl won't fit your 4x4 tent. I'd say go with the 6" Blockbuster as mentioned above but be sure that you have some distance between the hood and the canopy or you'll get some bleaching. This is what my experience with it was so I went ahead and upgraded to the 8" XXXL in my 5x5 tent and couldn't be happier.

To those who say the Raptor is better, is it overall quality, or just the seal?

Has anyone checked them with a light meter?

Just wondering how it's better?

Looks like I'm in the market for Blockbusters, as I'm in 4x4 tents.

Have not checked the raptor with a light meter. I was speaking for overall build quality, and the seal being undeniably better than that of the xxxl.

FWIW, I too am running YM II Supreme 6 in a/c as well as Super Sun 2's.

The SS 2's are rectangular and not ideal for tents.

The YM's are pretty nice, but I'm thinking the BB's 25x25 size would be better, if not ideal, for my tents.

personally, the seals on my super sun 2s leak..not only that, the 6 inch flanges are cheap and are not sealed as well. i have to tape the hood and also seal the flanges. shitty quality for sure. suprising that they can make such questionable quality and still sell a zillion of em. i remember when i purchased there older hoods, they were thicker metal and better built.

I've used the TMII's in the past.... and they suck balls compared to the 6" Blockbuster.
The BB is sealed way better and has a way bigger light spread. ...

The 6" BB is actually perfect for a square tent if you are growing small to medium size plants.
IMVHO, The BB is ONLY good for a 4x4 space as I have a 5x5 tent and the light would quickly start fading after the 4ft mark.
Also, be sure to have the glass of the Blockbuster at least 16" from the top of your canopy or you WILL experience some bleaching from hotspots.
Since I bought the 8" xxxl, I no longer have to deal with those issues.

Peace, H8
